Q: What kind of material is good for home bedroom carpet?
In addition, household bedroom carpet material: cotton, hemp and so on have good characteristics of material of carpet, Juegan and comfort is first-rate, warm atmosphere not only coordinate the whole bedroom space, but also has a decorative effect.
Q: I'm looking into carpeting a room and was wondering how much the carpet is. I will be installing it myself.
Carpet is now priced by the s/f and all depends on the quality and type of carpet. You can buy it as low as 1$ a s/f if you get off the roll carpet. But and average, with some pad would be closer to 2/2.50 $ a s/f and up depending on style and type of carpet of course. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: We're looking to buy new carpet for a home. We want to buy nice, durable, long-lasting carpet, but, like everyone, we have a budget and are middle class.Any tips, pitfalls to avoid, good brands, avoid these brands, etc...?
we are happy with Berber.
Q: I have a little 3x5 brown and beige zebra striped pottery barn rug in here, but I want to move it into my bedroom because my mom painting some amazing zebra paintings for it, and the rug simply goes with my decor in there. I love that this rug is a little eccentric in my living room- that it's mismatched in a matching kind of way. I need to do this with another rug. I'm really drawn to cream flokati rugs, and it'd be a nice neutral in here (because my paintings are very colorful).
A rug with either black, white, hot pink, turquiose would work.
Q: Please take a look at the following sectional. Can anyone tell me what color accent rug to buy? I dont want too much more brown because I am scared it will look over bearing. But it is hard to find an orange that matches the couch pillows perfectly. If this was YOUR couch what colors would YOU do?
maybe a beige rug. Or a tan and brown or tan and orange rug.
Q: I am in soo much trouble, i am baby sitting at a brand new house. The child im taking care of wet the carpet so i used a hair dryer to dry it out. I found out the carpet was synthetic and it melted, there is a huge melt stain, plz help me, how can i fix it, i will die!!!
WHAT?? Are you sure that was a hair dryer and not a freekin' HEAT GUN? I've never heard of a hair dryer that was hot enough to melt the typical polymers used in carpeting. In any case, you tried to fix a problem and for some strange reason it didn't work - if I were the owner, I might be upset, but if you really used just a conventional hair dryer, and it indeed melted the carpet, I think I would be more upset with the carpet company. After all, you were trying to do the right thing. Now, if you're lucky, the homeowner will have some spare carpeting that they've saved away for exactly this kind of accident. An experienced carpet layer can surgically replace that using any one of two or three techniques. They can even do this if the homeowner doesn't have some spare carpeting, although that will add some additional cost, and the match may not be quite as good (depends on the color and style, which if the house is new, will hopefully still be available).
Q: My 5 year old son and i are moving into a flat that has an existing carpet which the owner refuses to lift. I had a carpet cleaning company come in to clean the carpets today and they now seem ok. MY question is : Can carpets cause respiratory problems in young kids? We sleep on a futon which is very low so our heads will be near the carpet. Of course i will be vacuuming as frequently as possible but i have heard that dangerous bacteria etc.. get into the carpet that the vacuum cant get out. What are the health hazards and can my healthy 5 and a half year old get affected? I would hate for him to develop allergies, respiratory problems or wore case scenario Asthma.
As long as your son does not have any existing respiratory problems or conditions then it's fine. Every house ive lived in (14 as my dad is in the military) since I was a baby has had carpet and I have no breathing problems so yeah you should be fine. And all carpets have bacteria in them just vacuum regularly. Hundreds of kids are raised in homes with carpets, many more than hard wood floors so i'm sorry but this sounds over protective and a little OCD. I'm sorry but anyways youve had your carpets cleaned already so your son's health should not be at any risk. Good Luck x
Q: Kids took natural fiber rug outside while cleaning hardwood floors. Boom - Super thunderstorm. Next day rug is soaked, its not looking good at all. is there anything I can do to recover it? After a day or two in the sun trying to dry it out one spot near edge is beginning to grow mold. Can I save it?
thoroughly mix one part liquid chlorine bleach with six parts water in a spray mist bottle. Test the mixture by spraying a little in a corner of the rug (not on the binding). If bleaching occurs, dilute the solution and re-test until it is safe to use. Mist the solution lightly on the moldy area, using a soft brush to work it down into the weave to reach all the mold growth. After five or ten minutes rub the area with a clean, dry cloth. Repeat if necessary. When you are finished, be certain that the rug dries thoroughly within five or six hours, using a hair dryer on the damp spot if required.
Q: My dog got ahold of a ball point pen and chewed it up on my tan carpet. My husband decided to leave it alone for three days till i got home. How do I remove a three day old Blue ink stain from light tan carpet? Peroxide did nothing, hairspray lightened it. Carpet spot remover did nothing. I have people coming for the holidays please help.....Thanks Shaye
You will probably need to resort to a solvent type cleaner that will actually dissolve the ink, especially now that it is dry. Perhaps something like Energene would do the trick. GOOD LUCK!
Q: I just got an estimate to professionally steam clean a 9 * 12 turkish area rug - the estimate was for $440 which seemed high to me, but I have no reference point - is this a reasonable price? I am located in New York City - Thanks!
I'll go out on a limb here and guess that $440 is NOT high ... first, it's an Oriental ... second, you are in NYC. And ... it's a big rug! Oriental rugs need to be handled with the utmost care. I would call around to several places for price quotes. I don't actually have a point of reference, either ... but I'm betting that (in your area, at least) you'll find that the price you were given is well within ballpark range. Did you buy the rug new? If so, call the retailer and ask for a recommendation. You may be able to get a break on the price for a referral from the rug seller. If you bought the rug secondhand (or bought it mass-market ... or don't know where the rug originally came from) ... you're probably stuck paying top buck, but BE SURE to get the estimate in writing before you have any work done on the rug!
