- Your phone wire in your house may be 'twisted pair' but the majority of a phone line and drop to your house is just a pair of copper wires, side by side. The resistance should not be a problem for you, so give it a try.
- Q: Our comcast HD cable box usually has the time and a little red light on front. Its blank and has no power. It is plugged into a power strip that also has the TV and stereo, yet those are working fine. We reset the power strip and still no power to the cable box.Any ideas? Please no rude remarks. Thanks.
- Check your cable bill. You are most likely renting the cable box. If so then take it back to Comcast. They will exchange it for a working one. One of mine did that not too long ago, and I had no hassles exchanging it.
- Q: I am thinking about buying a hard drive and a SATA to eSATA cable to get more space to store things but I dont know whether or not the eSATA cable supplies power to the hard drive like a USB port. Do I have to buy a power cable for the hard drive or will it work without one?
- eSATA connectors cannot supply power, require a power supply for the external device. eSATAp (but mechanically incompatible, sometimes called eSATA/USB) connector adds power to an external SATA connection, so that an additional power supply is not needed.

- A dodgy power cable can very easily singe or burn the power socket on the computer. In general, the lighter the cable, the more dodgy it is. $2 is nothing - I would buy a more expensive cable. The cents you save isn't worth it when your house is on fire. It's impossible to know whether your power supply or other computer components suffered any damage because of the electrical fire. You could try testing with a multimeter, but you should probably replace the power supply at a minimum.
- Q: I got two hard drives. The cable connecting the hard drive has 2 connectors, does it matter which connector goes to the master drive and which goes to the slave drive? same question regarding the power supply. 2 connectors on the power cable, the order matters?
- it doesn't matter which power cable you use for your hard drive. however, the hdd cable is different story. I am assuming you have EIDE cable. If you just have one hard drive connecting, then it doesn't matter which connector you use. If you have 2 hard drive connecting with one cable, either you have to change the jumper setting so one HDD will be master other one will be slave. Another way is to change the jumper setting on both HDD to cable select; in this case, the hard drive connected at the end connector will be master and the hard drive connected to middle connector will be slave.

- Q: I was just wondering what ATX power supplies (exact model) that can support the Antec P182 computer case. Like, the power supply goes on the bottem of the case, but the power supply cables need to be long enough for it to reach the top of the case?Basically, I am trying to ask what ATX power supplies that have long cables? - Unless you have a good reason for putting it there and plenty of air flow the bottom of the case is not a good place to put a power supply. They generate a lot of heat and this will rise up into the case.

- Q: I lost the power cord and I can't seem to find a replacement online. Is there anything I can do to savage this since I do not want to buy a new printer. If it helps, I have an old power cable from a samsung ML 2510, but that printer is deemed useless since it started to smell like smoke.
