- Q: What is a valve mismatch in cars. code 300, 302, 420. All togather. Mechanic is telling the truth to do tune up and all. Is iT valve itsef? What is a (bad) coild? MITSUBISHI MIRAGE 2000
- Wherever you are get out. You are about to be ripped off. This will probably be too late. I gather the code you gave is the trouble code, as they are called, from the cars obd. The code 300 is random / multiple cylinder misfire. The code 302 is cylinder # 2 misfire The code 420 is catalytic system below threshold bank # 1 Deciphered this means you have a spark plug misfiring in cylinder #2, bank # 1. The misfire is causing a rich gas mixture in the exhaust system that is detected by the sensor and therefore it says you have a catalytic converter problem. I would suggest you replace your spark plugs, if they have a lot of miles on them. Are they the original plugs ? I f so they are probably due. Get out of there and go find an honest shop that will not rip you off. Now that you know the problem they can;t cheat. I don't know what all that other valve business was about but all you have is a misfiring spark plug.
- Q: What is the best procedure to check/adjust valve clearances? This engine is a perkins diesel inside of a cat generator. I know that he exhaust valve is .018 and the intake valve is .008.
- take off the valve cover....you might also want to remove the glow plugs if you have trouble turning the engine over by hand. now make sure that the valve you are checking is completely closed by turning the engine by hand till you see the rocker arm to its highest level.....then slide your feeler gage between the rocker arm and the valve stem.....adjust if necessary.
- Q: What is the easiest and best way to fix a leaking shut-off valve on a toilet?
- Replace it there fairly cheap.Usally all you need is a wrench an pipe thread tape and a new shut off valve bably less than 20 bucks total.Just turn off the water an flush the toilet.Place a pot under the connection so it will catch any remaining water as you loosen the connection. There are 2 large nuts at each end of the shut off valve.Turn them conter clockwise to loosen an clockwise to tighten.Wrap the threads with pipe thread tape on both ends before installing the new shut off.Its probably one of the easiest do it yourself plumbing jobs there is.Once you have the new shut off installed an tightened turn the water back on an check for leaks. If it is leaking you may have to tighten your connection a little more.Good luck,I hope this helps.

- Q: The hot water in my bathroom is leaking from the faucet. I've shut off the valve below the sink, but it continues to dribble out. Also, there appears to be some rust build-up. Could that account for a failing valve?
- In some homes where the sink is mounted to the wall, as in your case, there may be shut off valves in the basement directly under the bathroom. If there are none there then you will most likely need to shut off the main water the open the bath room sink faucets to drain off excess water. Good luck.
- Q: I've been told that I need to replace a clogged expanssion valve on my '96 toyota camry.A friend said he would properly recharge the system if i replaced the parts needed .I can't ask him where it is because he's out of town for a little while. I also need to replace the drier ,but it's obvious where it is.Please help me.
- the expansion valve is usually located inside the line next to the accumulator/dryer. If you drain the system, and remove the accumulator, look inside the line that leads into it, and it should be stuffed in the line. If you see one inside the line, it is actually called an orifice tube, but has the same function as an expansion valve. Actually, expansion valves are usually used in large vans with a rear a/c evaporator unit. If it is an external valve it should be next to the accumulator as well. The purpose of this valve/tube is to create high pressure gas out of low pressure liquid freon. These usually become clogged with debris after the compressor's pistons break apart and contaminate the system. If you find little metal shavings in the tube, or valve, your compressor was either replaced at one time, or is bad now.
- Q: I have a 98 Mitsubishi Mirage, seems there is a valve cover oil leak, i know this can be easily fixed by replacing the gasket.. but how will i know if the leak isn't from the valve cover gasket . Is the cylinder head gasket a major issue also .. if its not really the valve cover thats producing the oil leak should i not worry and just replace the valve cover gasket .?
- The valve cover gasket is not as big of a deal, if it gets really bad you will just start smelling a lot of burining oil. The head gasket can become a major issue, especially since coolant also flows through more internal part of the gasket. The question you need to ask is if the leak is closer to the top (valve cover) or farther down the block?
- Q: Hi all,My 1995 nissan altima (122k on the odometer) stalled for a few minutes this morning. I noticed that one of the sparkplug holes ( where the cable from the distributer connects to the spark plug) is sorrounded by oil. I cleaned it out and it got filled with oil again. luckily for me, and by god's grace it somehow started normally and i drove home. I am sure its the valve gasket. There is not much oil leakage, the oil level is fine.I need to know if its going to damage my engine if I ignored the problem for 3-4days.Thanks.
- It wont hurt to drive the car. I would replace the valve cover gasket. I would get a complete gasket set with valve cover, half moons if they are separate, and spark plug tube gaskets. If the spark plug wires are soaked with oil and feel soft i would replace them also.
- Q: i have a 04 kia sadona i have been having issues with the van overheating someone told me to open the bleeder valve and let it drain then refill leave the valve open and if i see bubbles in the radiator than its a blown head gasket. is this true? is there a bleeder valve on this and if so where is it located? its not on the thermostat housing i allready replaced the thermostat.
- it doesnt have a bleeder screw. are ur fans coming on when it satrts to overheat?
- Q: im looking for the egr valve on a 97 mazda 626 its not in top of engine like other cars where can it be?????o and its a 4 cylinder
- okay your gonna look at your intake manifold. Then locate where your air intake connects to the throttle body. Look around the throttle body and you should see the egr valve it will be hidden by your air intake but if you look hard enough you'll find it and also if you see in vacuum lines running around there, they will point you in the right direction because your egr valve has two vacuum lines that run to it. hopefully that helps.
