- Unfortunately with vacuum cleaners as with all other things in life, you get what you pay for. You aren't going to find a good pet vacuum for that price, unless you find someone selling a used but still functional one. I own a Dyson DC17 Animal. It does a great job, but also will run you close to $500. My less expensive Bissel Pet Hair Eraser was repaired under warranty 3 times and died again right after the warranty expired. Plus, it didn't clean half as well as the Dyson even when it was working properly.

- The Bissel pet models have plenty of power, and a great non electric brush attachment for sofas etc. They are easy to clean and the filters are readily available.
- Q: The vacuum has a really loud noise to it. At one point I seen grease/oil on the floor while it was running. The noise sounds like it needs grease or something. I'm thinking the bearings, but that's just a guess. Please can someone help or advise of a website where I can find the quot;how to fixquot;. Dyson support was useless. They just said to send the vacuum in or bring to a repair center at my cost. My options aren't big, I live in a very small town that doesn't have many or if any repair centers. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help.

I am concerned that you have indicated your machine was leaking some kind of oil or grease and neither of these fluids are used in the manufacture of the DC14 or indeed any of our vacuum cleaners. If your DC14 is making a loud noise and is not running correctly, we would strongly advise you take it to a local repair centre or call the Dyson Helpline for assistance. If you are not able to take it to a repair centre, we can arrange for it to be collected and taken to one. - A family member of mine has one. They have a few dogs, so the small container on the vacuum can hold only one day's cleaning. It does a great job of cleaning, but it has to be cleaned out daily and that process seems to take 20 minutes or so because of the dog hair twisted around all of the parts. Cleaning the machine requires taking it apart and washing or picking out the dirt.
