Q: Can I charge the battery (1.2Vx2) with the suction tube submerged in the water or do I have to remove the suction tube every time I have to charge the battery?: Since you don't mention the model of the pump, if you can connect the charger with a dry connection, you should not have to remove the pump/tube. If you have to take the battery out, you stand the risk of dropping it in the water putting it back, but obviously (I think) you don't have to remove the pump/tube.

The leak starts out slow, but once it starts, there is nothing that can be done for it other than to replace it. The leak does start out slow, and get faster, but it can go from slow to fast in just a few days. Like you notice your car over-heats and needs water, and then a couple days later it needs more, and then you gotta fill it every day, and then like every hour, and then like every five minutes. Once it starts to leak, the water will leak a little slower if the engine is running and the radiator cap is loose, so that it cannot build pressure. If you were near me I'd do it for 200 tops. and no, the dodge neon isn't crap to work on.....like a little riding mower in my opinion. Is your timing area making noises like something rattling around? If so it's that plastic piece I told you about. An automotive style pump, with its stamped steel impeller, would fail due to corrosion in a short time. Since it is belt driven, you should expect it to be near the passenger side of the engine, but it actually bolts to the front of the engine, near the bottom. In the linked image, they have included the housing, which you see bolts to the side of the block with an O ring seal. It is recommended you remove this housing, so that you can more easily get at all the small bolts holding the water pump to the housing. But there is no reason not to reuse the old housing. This also has the thermostat in it, so replace that at the same time. You may be able to leave the hoses attached if you are working on a lift, from below. The power steering pump may be in the way and need to be lowered. Take the passenger side wheel off. If you have to get at it from the top, it may be much harder, because the AC mounting plate would need to be removed and the head gets in the way, but also possible.
