- Q: Give me a general intro. about submersible water pumps.
- A water pump can have all the works above the water, pulling by suction and pushed by atmospheric pressure to a maximum of about 33 feet. Or it can have the motor above water and the lifting mechanism below with a long rod connecting (like an oil well with the donkey engine on the surface), but a bunch of weight and friction. Or it can be waterproofed and the motor and pump lowered down the drilled shaft on a plastic pipe with an electrical cord along side and push the water up. The last is a submersable. Similarly sump pumps and recirculating pumps where the cord, motor, and pump are under the liquid.
- Q: What does 'MCL' Unit stands for water pump. How can convert this Meter head of the pump. For example : 50 MCL to ------- MTR HEAD. What is the formula?
- *It is MLC which stands for Meters Liquid Column. 50 MLC is 50 meter head at the point of measurement. It is a Mano-metric unit. Metres of water column or water gauge are used throughout the world but mostly in Europe to measure the level of fresh water in boreholes, rivers and reservoirs. Metres of water pressure units are expressed in mostly three different ways which are metres of H2O (mH2O), metres of water gauge (mWG) or metres of water column (mWC).
- Q: I was wonder if there is a water pump in the out drive, my boat is overheating we are think it could have something to do with the water pump
- So far the only other answer is dead wrong. Your Bayliner has a raw water pump mounted inside the boat. Depending on HP it might be on the front of the crankshaft, or opposite the alternator on the AQ120-140 motors. Then there is a second water pump, which circulates the water through the block. There is no 3rd water pump. None of the Volvo engines have a water pump in the stern drive. I repeat none! The Raw water pump is a rubber impeller. The Thermostat can also be blocked and cause overheating. In some cases it's actually rust/crud that block the exhaust elbows which in turn blocks flow. If you run it on a flush attachment you might be able to check blockages by the amount of water exhausted from the transom/drive. You can edit your question with your specific engine. It takes 7 to 10 min to replace the water pump impeller. You do not have to prime the water pump....ever. Do not however run with out water. Either being in the lake,Bay. ocean, or using the correct flush attachment.
- Q: What is the difference between a High Flow Water Pump, Heavy Duty Water Pump or and Electrical Water Pump for a street rod? I have a 77 Camaro with around 410hp with the factory A/C. The Camaro is stock as body, frame and interior. I want to enjoy the car vs racing it. I would like to go on trips to visit family out of town which is around 300 miles and be able to drive the car with out having over heating problems.
- the key to keeping a car cool isn't the size of rad but water flow and air flow.elec.are for race cars and cubic dollar cars stock works for me or aftermarket high flow.and good fan that pushes allot of air.
- Q: I need to replace a water pump
- Just take off the fan belt, unbolt the water pump and fit the new one. Make sure the gasket area is clean and use a new gasket. If it has the fan on it, take that off first.
- Q: My 93 Ford t-bird over heats and i really don't know what could be the problem, the radiator is working fine, and also the fan and the thermostat, i don't think is a head gasket because the oil looks alright with no contamination and there is no steam coming from the exhaust im beginning to suspect the water pump but the weep hole is not leaking. So does a water pump MUST leak from the weep hole if it is bad, or it could be bad and not leak? thanks in advance...
- the water pump might be bad, it won't let the coolant to circulate. or you might have an air pocket in the coolant, that is the great possibility, you need to bled out that air. check the auto manual first before you start that service, all cars are different setup. and to check the water pump if it works, let it run and hold the upper coolant hose for few minutes and let someone to help you to watch the gage if its going to the hot zone, the hose you just holding should get hot even if there is air pocket. then you will know the pump is working. check the botom hose also,to check if the coolant circulate . If it wont get hot the botm hose , you might have a restriction in the engine block. checked also the fan clutch if you have one. Jesus is good . only God is good.
- Q: I have an 1985 cadillac fleetwood hearse and the water pump is shot to hell. where do get a good cheep one.
- any okorder and find the closest location. they are the cheapest option unless you just want to push the car and then that wouldn't cost you anything now would it.
- Q: i have little leak from water pump need to replace it in my mazda 6 2006 v6 3.0l. i have little over 120.000 miles on it. Any body know how much it may cost me?
- I don't know why, but the water pump costs between $125 and $160. That seems a little high. It probably retails for $186. Under normal conditions, you just get things out of the way, unbolt the old pump, clean it up and put the new one in. The problem is the other stuff that gets in the way. I'm just estimating the job will take 5-8 hours. Just multiply times the labor rate in your area. Don't forget the anti-freeze when you're done.
- Q: My water pump went out. I had a new water pump put on my accord a year and a month ago. Since then have driven 5-6,000 miles in a small city town. Does this makes sense. Could it be a cheaper water pump was put on my car and it went out. The person who worked on it is a mechanic who does a bunch of cars on the side. Last time he worked on my brakes, I had to bring it back because he put cheap ones on.Can I call this guy back? What could I say?
- usually 7-10 years so at 5000 miles take it back
- Q: We had a leak in our car and took it to get checked out. They said it is the water pump. Also that it would be around $650 to replace. I know nothing about cars. Is this necessary? and does the cost sound about right? We are going on a 3 hour trip one way this weekend. Would it need to be done before then? thanks guys!
- It certainly needs fixing before you go any where or you could wreck the entire engine!
