Q:where is the shuttle valve located in 03 land rover discovery hse ?
The shuttle valve is a part of the brake modulator this problem is addressed by the replacement of the brake modulator and that's a $1,500.00 dollar part plus labor but I believe that they sell a shuttle valve repair kit for around $100.00 dollars.....
Q:I have a 2001 Chrysler 300 m. About a year ago it cut off on the interstate. The mechanic told me my timing belt broke and i had three burnt valves. The timing belt is already fixed, but I was wondering what parts were needed for the other. also what is the estimated price to fix this?
Burnt valves or, far more likely, bent valves. Either way, you'll need to basically overhaul the top end - you'll need to replace the bad valves and the top end gasket set along with any machine work that may be necessary. Estimates will vary greatly from facility to facility and also from different areas. To get a valid estimate for your locality, you need to get local estimates.
Q:Help! I've got this leaky CPVC valve in a new plumbing setup for a water heater. It only drips when open. :( It's going to be a real pain to replace it. Is there any way to tighten this thing up? It looks like there is a plastic pop off panel on the knob for the valve but I'm not sure. Thanks for any help!
Turn off the main water to your house. Turn that valve to open. Then tighen the nut on it (slightly), see if the valve will close , if yes; then tighten it a little more, then see if the valve will close. If yes - that should do it. If the nut is so tight that the valve will not close, then loosen the nut just a tad. That should do it, ......... now, turn the valve off. Turn back on the main water to your house -- and see if that works.
Q:How does a thermal bypass valve work, specifically in a car.
Thermal Bypass Valve
Q:its a vauxhall movara van and i need help im trying to found out wether the valves are broken all the springs are upright and all level , so does this mean there ok ? or not ... thanks
You need to have someone crank the engine and check to see if all of the rocker arms are moving.
Q:I was diagnosed by 2 places that my 1995 chevy lumina needed a new egr valve due to the check engine light being on. I got a new EGR valve but the check engine light is still on. Evidently there is something else wrong with the car. Since the check engine light is still on would you figure that my EGR valve is still good and that the light comes on for some other problem?
i think your right. I'm not sure but a think your EGR valve is vacuum operated. If so, there is a vacuum solenoid to control the vacuum to the egr valve. There is also intake vacuum to this solenoid. Could be no vacuum to solenoid or a bad solenoid or wires controlling the solenoid. But also could be a completly different problem other than egr. You need to go back to the shop that put on the egr valve and find out why the egr valve didnt fix your problem. And either have them fix it right or get your money back.
Q:It's just a small 1 cylinder 1000 watt generator but thanks to contributors here, I verified the exhaust valve is pitted after I cleaned it all up with oven cleaner a toothbrush. My question is can I just replace the valve itself or do I need an entire new head? The seats still feel smooth.
You can replace just the valve. You should lap the valve to the seat though. That requires a lapping compound and some way to spin the valve. This is done before installing the spring. Lapping ensures that the valve is seated and won't leak. In the old days I have used comet cleanser and a small suction cup chucked in my drill. Worked fine. I know that is not the correct method but it worked and my mower ran for several years after that. Auto zone may have a valve lapping tool that they will loan out and you can buy some real lapping compound to do a better job. I always enjoyed getting the job done with what I had on hand. Good luck.
Q:So i finaly got my check valve and my airstone. The airstone is actually a flat round airstone and is 5 inches in diameter to be in my 10gallon. Is it to big? though i have a tetra whisper air pump for 10-30g.And how do i place the check valve? Do i put it closer to the tank or closer to the pump? (just to make sure since i heard so many different ways people put it). Or does it even matter? And lastly, do i put the OUT side of the check valve facing towards the tank or the pump? Thanks! after this im ready to install it!
Adequate the purpose you let a tank cycle in the first place is due to the fact of Bactria needs to grow that will maintain your water clear. As for overstocked. I consider your proper on the threshold of being over stocked. Just preserve the tank walking a lil longer and spot if it clears up. But when your 15 gallon tank has the filter from the ten gallon tank that could be why to you dont have sufficient water moving around to scrub it
Q:How do I adjust the valves on a 96 Blazer, 4.3 V6? When we tighten them to torque specs there is no compression, then when we loosen them and get compression, they loosen up to loose after its been running...any help!, THanks!
There really is no setting for them, they are hydraulic lifters, tighten the lock nut down til zero lash, then tighten 3/4 turn more. if they are still noisy or loose they probably need to be replaced, if that is the case be sure to check and see if the cam needs to be replaced as well, chances are if the lifters need to be replaced so does the cam...you can run new lifters on an old cam...but Never run used lifters on a new cam. You can go to the Library and look this up in a chiltons or haines manual ... it will tell you the same thing.
Q:What are the benefits of changing new cylinder heads and exhaust valves in the Main engine of the vessel? I am now studying a vessel which has a problem with their main engine. Frequent repair of cylinder heads (they usually weld it) and exhaust valves are the ones they do. I need to further give the benefits to be submitted to the vessel's management for them to buy new cylinder heads and exhaust valves as a replacement for the welded ones.
The only reason to change out a cylinder head is because the exhaust valves have been burnt or the valves in general have been used to a point they don't seat any longer. Which means the engine compression to fire the cylinders on compression stokes is too low to be efficient to operate. Or the cylinder head has a crack in it and leaks water or the compressed gasses from the engine compression blow into the water jacket through the cracks causing the coolant to blow out and the engine to overheat.
