Q: Hi, I was wondering if the house appraisal for a house with all hardwood floor was higher than it is if the house has all tile. Thanks!
REAL harwood floors (meaning the flooring is 100% hardwood and not a laminate of any kind) usually appraise SLIGHTLY higher. This means the floors are in great shape with no re-finishing needed.etc needed. It also means they are flat (not warped) or dinged and stain free. As with tile wood floors come in all price ranges. Laminates (like babmboo or pergo) won't be valued as highly as 100% hardwood planks. Tile floors are 'iffy'. Just like harwood there are all different grades of tile. Cheap tiles -ceramic,terra cotta- do not appraise as highly as porcelain, stone or marble flooring. But even with the best of the best of either the appraisal value would change only a few 100 dollars between the best quality and the worst quailty of either.Hope this was helpful
Q: We recently bought a house and the bathroom has tile everywhere (including the ceiling). What is the best, easiest, fastest way to get tile up. The experiences we‘ve had with tile is that it just breaks up in little pieces. Any suggestions?
If it where on drywall, I would take off the drywall - gut down to the studs. If its on plaster, get a wide chisel and hammer away...Sometimes a 6 drywall knife works to srape off tile then you have some drywall repair- skim coating. Hopefully, for your sake, the tile is on drywall - a newer home...
Q: If I have about 56 tile in bathroom that‘s 8x8 and the new tiles would be 13x13 how many would i need. And for the wall tile is 8x8 and have 28 the new would be 12x12 how many would i need
Bathroom Tiles help to make the bathroom beautiful and easy to clean. Most people now tile to the ceiling. Why not choose polished porcelain in the larger size (ie 300×600mm) it will make any bathroom look bigger and brighter. View selection of Bathroom Tiles and buy tiles online.
Q: Easiest way to remove stick tile
get a razor blade floor scraper, will take it up with no problem, and it will take up the glue also.. if its on concrete, it will leave a thin layer of glue, easy fix to that, just get some acetone and dump it on there and it will scrub right off
Q: What are the brands of tiles?
Second-rate brand: The United States, the United States, the United States, the United States, the United States, the United States, the United States, the United States, the United States, the United States, the United States, the United States, The United States and Tao, the United States and Tao, Shun Hui, sublimation, Hilti, Samite, St. Pottery Square, the United States and the United States, the United States and the United States, Shiwan, special high special, Wales, Williamton, the king, Xinghui, Xinliwan, the new South Yue, Yu Jing, Yashi GAO Fu ceramics, etc.
Q: My tile is ugly mint green. nothing matches.I would like to know if I can paint this without it looking tacky.
You should probably go to a tile specialty store and ask them what is available. My guess would be that if something does exist it is not going to look very good. Fiberglass kits are made that can be bonded to the old tile and provide a new surface of a shower stall. These kits are not difficult to install, basically you clean the old tile and then glue the new panel over it. Check with you local home improvement store, they should have them. For a much better look I would suggest going to the home improvement store and taking their free tile classes. This would allow you to lay your own new tile. You will still need to remove the old tile first. Again the home improvement store is where they can tell you how to do this. It's going to be a major demolition requiring you to basically remove and replace your shower walls. This sounds like a lot of work doesn't it... it is but I've learned that doing something right is always better than doing it half way.
Q: Staining and grout removal aside, are there other disadvantages to using natural stone tile for bathtubs?
Using natural stone in the bath tub is not that advisable. removal of grout and stain is not a problem if the granite is well polished you know. I want to tell about one issue only which I have seen many places. You know if you compare with ceramic tiles, the natural stone is a porous material, I mean there are many invisible holes on it. The effect is that stones will absorb water and it will spread into the foor and it wil make problem if your bath is in the first floor or above. See the problem if you are on a floor above the ground floor, you will see water dripping from the bottom area of the tub. In this case, if you are particular in going with natural stone, you can make it somewhere out side the building with separate foundation.
Q: i needed some vinyl tile but i saw that vinyl roll was a lot cheaper.is a vinyl roll just vinyl tile that hasnt been cut?
No it is two completely different things. Vinyl tile is solid vinyl all the way through. Sheet vinyl is a composite of a vinyl wear layer and a base substrate, and many times even having a cushioning layer, so it is a little easier on your feet, sort of a mini anti-fatigue mat. In much the same way as formica has a top wear layer, and a (usually) brown substrate. Vinyl tile is much more durable than sheet goods, you will almost never see sheet goods in a commercial environment, also when damaged, tiles are easier to repair. A tile will gouge or scratch, where as sheet vinyl will tear when heavy appliances are dragged over it. The sheet goods DO give you some cushioning, this is because of the composite backing.
Q: I‘m having linoleum put in my kitchen and I‘m want to prep the floor. We already tore the carpet up and we weren‘t sure if we should clean the carpet adhesive off the ceramic tiles, or remove the tiles from the concrete.
You are better off ripping out the tiles first. If you really want to lay the hardwood over the tiles, first lay down 3/4 plywood so you have something to staple the new floor to. The ply is glued down with PL, and then screwed into the tiles/sub floor. You will need to pre drill with a masonary bit, and screw in every 12 inches. Seems like more work than ripping the tiles out. And adds an extra 3/4 + tile height + hardwood - how will that transition to other rooms for other information you can check my source site
Q: can you tile an old brick fireplacegt;?would it look stupid?
Are you still planning on using the fireplace? You will need to check with the manufacturer of the tile that it can withstand the heat. If you're tiling the exterior of the fireplace, make sure you select a corner bead for the exposed edge where the fireplace opening meets the wall plane. Installing tile over a fireplace is not a big deal if you're putting it on the wall plane. Whether it looks stupid or not depends on the type of tile you use and the overall color scheme. It could definitely work.
