- Q:i'm 16 male, i play basketball and run each day...what is considered a lot of weight to do sitting leg presses with? a can do 330 pounds, 5 repsis that a decent amount of weight?
- 5 reps? Whats the point? Muscle only start tearing and rebuilding after 8. I can do 280 pounds, 12 reps, 3 sets quite successfully. 5 reps, 1 set I can probably push that bout to 400. Stamina and sustainability is more important and quick burst strength. -------------------------- forthelifeof_me did you pull that right out of your ar$e? And squatting is SOOOO much more functional and less likely to injure yourself What are you talking about?? They work the EXACT same muscles, the only difference is squatting uses your back as a stabilizer and core as an antagonist stabilizer. As for injury...how is putting less strain on your back going to INCREASE the likely hood of injury? Get your facts straight before spouting rubbish! ------------------------ sumnor I was refering to the 8 rep concept as a rule of thumb (more of a generalization). Doing 5 reps isn't going to develop muscle as effectively as 8 or 12. I was trying to convey that point as effectively as possible. Doing reps really slowly is a effective an legitimate technique (My roster swiches to super-slow for a week every 5 weeks), but it works the muscle in a different way and even then you should still be doing a minimum of 8 reps.
- Q:I am doing a project about change makers and inventors of the world and I am doing about Johannes Gutenberg and how his printing press had changes the world
- The printing press was the first form of fast, mass communication. Previously, the only way to copy a book, document, etc. was by someone, usually a Monk, rewriting the book one word at a time. It would take many years if you wanted to make hundreds of copies of a book and many, many years after a book was written for it to be read around the globe. When the printing press was invented it had a similar effect that the invention of the internet did, it made sharing information world-wide much easier and faster.
- Q:freedom of press
- I fully agree with carl^s answer
- Q:can you give me a press releases list (free submission would be great)
- The key is to check if the press releases of that site is in Google News (there are free ones that have been banned by Google for posting fake press releases). If it is in Google News (search the name of the site) at least you know that your release will get out somehow as some don't have any distribution at all
- Q:can i gain muscle without bench pressing cause ive heard it doesnt and does affect ur growth
- Yes you can still build an impressive chest without a bench press. Body weight exercises like range from the basics like push ups and pull ups, to the more extreme like muscle ups and planches. Will weight lifting stunt growth? Absolutely not. This is a very common misconception, and comes from a poor understanding of the body. Growth is primarily controlled by our hormones. Weight lifting (like any physical sport) will increase lean mass and the production of testosterone, which will facilitate (not impede) growth. Physically, the only way to stunt growth is to cause trauma to Epiphyseal Plates (growth plates) located at the ends of the long bones. So the only way to cause this damage in weight lifting, is to drop a weight directly on these plates, like the knee or elbow. You are much more likely to cause this sort of trauma in almost any sort of contact sport like hockey, football or soccer.
- Q:Please, no suggestions about perms because I absolutely refuse to get another perm...Only interesed in pressed hair solutions...I have been natural for slightly over 2 years. I have been going to a salon to get my hair pressed, but I am wondering if every two weeks (twice a month) is too often. She does the new school pressing where she blow dries it straight and then straightens the hair with a ceramic flat iron--she does not actually use the hot comb. I am very satisfied with how it looks and feels, but I'd like to know if once every two weeks is too often for hair to be pressed/ flat-ironed.
- I press my hair every Friday and it still look fine. Maybe after a decade I will certainly detect some damage. But right now, its just perfect. Just make sure you shampoo and condition it with Pentene. It works fine on my hair.
- Q:How can you obtain press pass if you want to jump from amateur photography to professional, and what about the sports events like games of NBA, NHL, NFL etc.
- You need accreditation from a publisher, (Magazine or Newspaper), or you need to get accreditation from a photographic agency. Look in the Photographers Year Book.
- Q:I'm looking to purchase a coffee pot for my upcoming apartment. As an avid coffee drinker and a bargain shopper, I'm looking into everything. I had a friend recommend a french press as well as some other brand name appliances. What are the differences and similarities to having a french press? What other things do I need to purchase along with a press and how does the coffee compare to ordinary pot making coffee?? Thanks!
- some people say that coffee from a french press is much more flavorful, and I agree with them. The way it works is that the coffee grounds steep in hot water longer and you get much more flavor from the coffee grounds. A regular coffee maker works with dripping hot water through the coffee grounds. A lot of people like this method also. It's also very convenient for making a lot of coffee. The cons on making coffee with a french press is that you need coarse ground coffee. All preground stuff is made for regular coffee makers. Also, it's a hassle to clean a french press. Also, you can't make large quantities of coffee with a french press, unlike a coffee maker. If I were you, I would find a french press at a thrift store since they always have used ones for cheap there. Try it out and decide. edit: youtube has great vids on how to use a French press.
- Q:I am 165 lbs and i can only bench press up to 150. I wanna bench press more to get ready for football practice in the spring and i dont have the money for protien shakes i just wanna gain more weight and bench more
- What u want is muscle confusion.. THIS IS HOW YOU BUILD MUSCLE THE FASTEST! First of all, without protein shakes, u arent geting enough protein to rebuild your chest, and so u wont recover as well, and thus u wont get any increase in benching. With protein shakes, this workout is perfection. Without protein, it will be difficult, but not impossible. Ask ur parents or get a job or something to make some xtra cash to buy protein shakes(a 5lb jug of isoflex{lean protein} can last u about 2 months) and buy xtend(this is recovery powder, these are amino acids) and multi vitamin and u will grow muscle fast.. about 90-100 bucks. Moving on.. This is my workout.. _1st week_(STRENGTH) Pick any day(u must rest at least 6-7 days before u do any chest workout again) -Bench press: ((light weight-warmup) 90lbsx10), 110-115lbsx8, 120-125lbsx8, 135lbsx6, 150lbsx4 -Incline bench press: 4 sets, 10,8,8,6 -flys:4 sets, 10,8,8,6 -incline flys: 4 sets, 10,8,8,6 -chest dips 3x as many as u can _2nd week_(SIZE) -Bench Press:((always lite weight warmup)90lbsx10), 100lbsx12, 115lbsx10, 120lbsx10, 125x8 -incline bench press: 4 sets, 12,12,10,8 -flys: 4 sets, 10,10,8,8 -incline flys: 4 sets, 10,10,8,8 -chest dips- 4x as many as u can *Alternate the weeks(ex: this week strength, next week size, then strength... etc) *Adjust weight accordingly to how much you can lift(for example, if it says lift 10 times, then get weight that u can lift 10 times, if it says lift 4 times, then get weight that u can lift 4 times and barely make it... also, the lower the reps, the higher the weight ) *increase weight(except warmup) by 2 1/2 lbs every two weeks *****If u hav any questions, add me as a contact and i will get back to you
