- Q: I would like to press a purple carnation I got 3-4 days ago. I would prefer to press it onto just a piece of normal printer paper. What would be the best way to press my carnation (w/out getting any books dirty!)? I've never pressed a flower before, so I need all the details - should I cut off them stem, should I press the flower on its side or on its center, etc. Thank you (and yes, I will be marking someone as having the best answer - 10 points baby!) And yeah, I know this is a weird question :P
- I have pressed flowers in the past with good results. Copy paper will do. You can either trim some of the stem or leave as is (as long as it's manageable). Place it on its side between two sheets of copy paper and place something heavy on top. I would suggest to use something like a manila folder on top the copy paper---then put a book on top or something else that's heavy. Leave it undisturbed for awhile. I am not sure at least a month---maybe more. I still have pressed flowers that I have had for 10+ years. Good luck!

- The military press is my favorite shoulder exercise. I guess, next would be dumbbell side laterals. A lot of people have problems with the upright row, due to shoulder impringment. So I'm not a fan of that movement.

- Squats work every muscle in your body, from your lats and upper back, all the way down through your hips and thighs. Quite simply, this one lift will recruit and develop your entire body. Maybe even more importantly, it will teach your body to work as a well-oiled, functional unit. When training, I tend to avoid the leg press machine. Instead, try front/back squats, dead lifts and Bulgarian split squats.

- I am a former 4/color stripper, cameraman, platemaker. This is how it was done before computers. I have some knowledge of computerized stripping. I have been in the business for over 30 years. An offset press is an offset press. They all operate pretty much the same way. With water and ink. Flexo printing is done for labels that are put on bottles. Believe it or not the image is distorted in prep. This is because the label wraps around a cylindrical or somewhat cylindrical container. Believe it or not the distorted image comes out looking right because of the shape of the container. An assistant pressman's responsibilities will vary from shop to shop but you pretty much are helping fill ink fountains, putting up paper, hanging plates, setting color, and you get to wash up the press among other things. It has been awhile but I do miss it. If you are good you can write your own ticket to a certain extent. I am older now and it was kinda fun thinking about this. I hope at least some of this helps. - Yahoo news (I assume you are taklking about news) pickes up its news feeds - just like all other news media - from reputable new feed providers. a common one which lets you (for a fee) send out your press release on the wire is PR Web (www.irs /faqs/faq/0,,id=199557,00.html) This feed is monitored by many news agenceis so if your news is interesting enough, it may be published on many other news sites. The key to get other sites to pick it up is to make sure the news item is intresting to the average person and makes a compeling story. (for example, a press release saying that your company grew to 100 employees is not intresting to everyone, but if your company grew to 100 employees and is actively trying to hire people in a community that is especially hurt by the economic crises - it makes a more compelling story)
