- Q: I NEED to wash something on permanent press cycle on a washing machine but I don't have the cycle, what other cycle would be equal to permanent press?
- Permanent press is outdated now -- used to be for no-iron fabrics like polyester -- used to be popular back in the day, like the 70's. I would wash on the delicates cycle, but it really isn't that big of a deal, so don't worry yourself too much :)
- Q: I really really want to increase my bench press. During school last year I did 135 lbs. I wanted to do better this year and do better next so I went to the gym and started lifting weights. I barely did bench press because I did not have a spotter. So instead I used dumbbells like depending on the day and workouts I do it rangers from 25-35 lbs. And I also chest press 110 lbs 10x and I do 3 sets. Today. I did 200 reps in curling ( did pyramids 2x starting at 50 lbs ) and incomplete it 2 with 5 reps per weight So when I tried to bench I couldn't bench at all. Is it cuz of this?? I did a bunch of triceps and chest exercises before this.
- The cuz of it is overtraining: 200 reps for one thing. Overtraining puts you at high risk of injury.
- Q: I need a few ideas on why the Freedom of the Press is more important to democracy than Freedom of Religion? pleez hurry cauze the paper is due tuesday!!!
- Freedom of the press allows criticism of the government. You can't effectively organize and push for change if the government is allowed to suppress those voices. Look at China - they have a good amount of freedom of religion (not counting the oppression of Tibet), but not freedom of the press. It's the later that suppresses democratic movements and keeps the Communist party in charge. Look at Israel and India - they have freedom of the press, but religious tolerance isn't exactly that high (even if they're supposedly free to practice any religion). Their stance on religion occasionally interferes with democratic values, but the open press allows the citizens to educate themselves and vote in different leadership.
- Q: I can military press 100lb dumbbells (one in each hand) with ease. I've worked really hard to get up to this point, but......100lbs dumbbells are the heaviest that my gym has, so I have to move on to the barbell. Since the dumbbells isolate both shoulders, I should technically be able to military press more with the barbell than I should with dumbbells, right? Does starting off at 205 or 215 sound like a good idea? I've only been lifting (seriously) for about 2 years, so I'm still somewhat of a noob. Thanks!
- Yeah, you can probably do as much as 245 lbs even In my experience (and this is none scientific at all) but in my experience, when I use barbells instead of dumbells for exercises like that (bench press, overhead press, bent over rows) - the amount of weight I can add to each side is almost identical to the weight of the dumbbells. So by that logic, you could add 100lbs to each side of a barbell, making the weight 245lbs HOWEVER, the form is slightly different, so I would advice to start at an even 200 and focus on perfecting the form. be careful with the changes. Watch your chin (you have to move your neck out of the way) and watch your back - you have to squeeze your glutes so your lower back doesn't arch. Also watch the positioning of your hands on the barbell as its slightly different. A narrower grip will work your shoulders primarily, but hit your triceps quite hard. A wider grip will work your shoulders and your upper chest the most.
- Q: If the printing press had been around in the 1st century would the Catholic church as we know it even exist today?
- Well no, and neither would the protestant churches. Most churches that came out of the reformation subscribe to Nicean christianity, in creed and selection of scriptures. Arians, Donatians, Gnostics, but of course also Manicheans, Zoroastrians, Mithraists, etc... would have had a chance to find an audience anywhere in Europe instead of being marginalized locally. What-if history on such a scale is really tricky though.
- Q: Ive all ways done the chest press till now. I can do 120lbs. About how much would i be able to bench press? Is there such a conversion?
- Bench press is the same sort of thing except done with free weights not on a pin loaded piece of equipment. There are some things to bear in mind: The bar weighs 44lb alone. You also have to control any lateral movement in the bar at the same time as well. Give it a go but don't be disconcerted if it seems harder at first. Don't try and lift too heavy at first, the object is to help not hurt yourself. Keep your feet flat on the floor, don't listen to any clown who tells you to put them up on the bench, this only creates imbalance and you have to use more strength in keeping balanced so you'll lift less. Try and keep your shoulder blades pinched together and concentrate on your chest when you lift. Mostly, good luck and happy lifting.
- Q: Hi everyone! At my school weight room we only have a mechanical? Bench press. Like one which is a bar attached to a pulley that lifts up weights. So basically a bar you push up with adjustable weight and no free movement. Anyone tell me what it's called? Before anyone goes into saying It's far better to use an actual bar I'm just trying to make do with what I got. So basically On this thing I can push 100lbs once (13 years old) so I wanted to know what the best weight and how many reps/sets of what weight I should do for best results. I would also like to know proper technique so if someone could link me to a site or tell me that'd be great. I would also like to know best exercises to supplement my bench press. Thanks in advance,Jamie
- squeeze your shoulder blades in combination underneath you and preserve them locked in combination during the recreation. Take a breath, unrack the burden, scale down the bar till it touches your rib cage, then press again up, exhaling as you move the sticking factor.
- Q: Im entering for a debate competition, and one of the motions is This House Believes That The Press Is Depressing. It would be helpful if you guys could give your opinions both for the motion and against the motion. And any stats that you might have :)
- On the face of it, the press is depressing because it reports bad news far more readily than good news. Earthquakes, murders, crashes, rapes etc as well as government weaknesses sell papers! HOWEVER this kind of news is not really depressing : quite the opposite : it cheers people up : they love reading about other people's misfortunes and criticising the govt. Communist regimes deplore negative reporting and give the readers only up-beat news, esp about their own achievements. This sounds healthy, but amounts to suppression of press freedom, which is an essential component of individual freedom.
- Q: Would the publisher of The Grapes of Wrath be a scholarly press?
- A scholarly press is usually a university press. The publisher I saw was Penguin. So unless you have a special edition that has lots of analysis by some professor, published by some university, the answer is no.
- Q: Luckily, my acne has gone down, and it isn't too bad now. I still have to cover up some areas though. Normally, I put on a liquid concealer then a finishing powder to well, finish the look. However, sometimes I need to touch up and I can't exactly whip out a loose powder at any time so I want to try a pressed powder compact. Would this work fine? Any particular brands that you like? I'm thinking about Lorelle true match or something by NYC.Thanks in advance :)
- Press Powder seems to dry my skin. I would try loose powder...I use Smashbox Halo Perfecting Powder
