Q: We found a really nice area rug in a storage but it somehow got wet and moldy, can it be cleaned? I have it laid out outside to completely dry out, would a carpet shampooer clean it, is there anything special I should use?: If small, I'd launder it at home, putting in a bit of oxyclean with the detergent. If largge, I'd take it to a do it yourself car wash (spray wand) and spend a dollar. Pressure helps.

Q: what is the best product to take out ground in dirt and pet messes my carpet is supposed to be green....its black in a majority of spots, and hard in other spots!i mean it doesnt have to be like 100 percent every stain taken outjust so it doesnt look so nasty, and i can actually have people over without them thinking im a slob,because im the complete opposite. my fiancee and and dont have the money right now to have all the carpet replacedand the previous owners (his family) obviously didnt care about the carpet, or cleaning for that matter.any help would be much appreciated.Thanks!: Rent a Rug Doctor from your local Walmart or grocery store. You don't have to buy the cleaning solution, laundry soap and a *little* bit of bleach will get your carpet clean again.

Q: Ok so I'm trying to make my room cooler before high school and I need a new rug, but I don't wanna spend a bunch of money on one!It could be from 8'x10' to 10'x12'. Also, I need to fill in some room, and I have a futon at my house that I could make a cool couch but not the frame, so could you help me with that too? Q: I have a shag carpet and can't manage to vacuum it clean even with a flat vacuum brush. Is there any product that can use to clean it thoroughly?: Is shag carpet coming back? They used to have shag carpet rakes that pulled the pile up before vacuuming, and then again after vacuuming. Don't know if they still do or not but check with Lowe's, Home Depot and ask.

Q: My Water Heater and flooded about 10 x 10 carpet area. What do i do? anyone have recommendation for those carpet cleaners rented at ACO, Home depot?: Just use a wet/dry vac suck up the water. The real problem will be drying out the carpet before it gets moldy.

Q: Okay, i already have carpet in my house but the thing is...the carpet in the living room is hideous it doesn't match anything that i'm trying to do!! I would love to just rip the carpet up and put a new one down but i'm only renting this house! Anywho, can i put a big enough room sized rug over the carpet...how tacky would that be. I actually think it'll cover the whole carpet, it's pretty big my living room is pretty small! Any suggestions???: Sure you can, my daughter just did exactly this. She found a rug, that matched all her furnishing, and had a bit of the color of the existing carpet color so it flowed well and it looks really nice. It can take alot of searching. I dont know where you live, in some areas people sell rugs on the side of the road type people or at swap meets, have the best prices and seem to have the most interesting types. IKEA has rugs that are pretty reasonable too if you have one near you. To simply get carpet laid over your carpet can be done, but, pretty much when you move and pull it up the carpet below for some reason gets really damaged this way. Having a huge rug that you can occassionally pull back and vacuum under is better. Happy hunting!!!!!

Q: I had a bad stain on my carpet that nothing would remove. So I tried peroxide on it, and it took it out. So I was wondering if peroxide, baking soda, and things of that nature can be used in carpet cleaning machines?: Carpet cleaning machines spray out cleaning fluid and then vacuum it (and the dirt it attracts) back into the machine. Peroxide cannot be used because it needs to be in contact with the stain for a period of time to work. You can use oxygen-based cleaners in your carpet machine, but check with the manufacturer. Some require that you use a liquid oxygen-based cleaner that's made for carpet cleaners. Hoover makes a liquid called Oxy-Gen that works quite will.
