- Q: I just got a cheap intel i3 custom pc build on OKorder. But, i have no idea on how to set up all those PSU cables and the fans and everything else (seller thought it was a great idea to unplug every cable inside, which led to me turning on the pc assuming everything was good to go which led to the cpu overheating after turning it on) But anyway, i need to know how to setup the psu cables. My PC looks like a mess with all those cables jumbled up together. There are 4 distinct think cables sticking out from the PSU and all the other cables come from the case or the fans. Some of the cables come with numbers (1, 2, 3) and some are already plugged into the mobo, so i don't want to touch those. How to do this?
- CD/DVD drives and hard drive all use the same power connectors (multicolored), so plug them in whichever way you want. There is no specific order. Don't remove any ribbon cables, and if you wish to have a floppy drive, the power cable is slightly smaller than normal ones. Commonly, fans can be plugged in to any port on the motherboard as long as they reach without straining the cable. They can only be inserted one way and are likely three-prong so it should be easy. The numbers on your cords don't matter.
- Q: Seem to have misplaced both the power cable and adaptor for my hp printer scanner all in one and every where i look i cant seem to pick them up can any1 help me ?
- OKorder or OKorder
- Q: The hdd i am looking at is OEM nearly everywhere so i'm wondering what i would need to use it.
- just the data and power cable and if your mobo doesnt support that type of drive (like if it only has ide and you want sata) then you will need a controller card
- Q: HiI'm organizing my cords at the moment, but I'm curious, is it safe to use power cords (say a phone charger) when it is still wound up in a coil? It would save a lot of cord clutter, but are there any drawbacks, as in it would start a fire? Thanks
- there is no danger coiling cords.dont fold the cord or you could break the wire
- Q: i bought a new graphics card a while ago, an nvidia 9400gt (i now realize how LOL that is). i connected it, but i noticed there were no extra power cables hanging around that would fit on the small six pin slot on top of the card. the performance increase has basically been negligible, and i don't really want to mess with the power box. should i take it into a computer shop, or is there an easier solution?yes, i installed it correctly and everything. i'm 100% sure.
- You okorder /
- Q: I am doing a test if the power supply. Can you have the computer on and plugged in with PSU out in the open, leave on the carpet ?Can you have the power cable plugged into the psu first and then try to plug in the psu cable into the mother board. Would this electrocute you? if you accidentally knocked over liquid onto the power supply while the computer is running and you touched the motherboard at the same time while you are perfectly grounded. Can this electrocute you? unpluging the psu connector while the computer is on?
- You can but I wouldn't I build PCs all the time in test configurations outside of the case, but I always have everythign on non conductive serfaces, ie wooden tables. Carpet would be a little to staticy for me. Your second scenario leaves two answers for me, both are no, but for different reasons. If I plug a psu into a motherboard with power allready in it, I could short out the motherboard or worse yet shock myself. Also, I don't want to plug a power cable into a psu without any load on the device, doing so can and will fry the psu. depends on the liquid, if it is dionized water, you can turn the pc off dry it out and may be lucky enough not to fry your system. if it is soda, tap water, or salt water of any kind, don't touch it. I don't care if you THINK you are grounded, even if you were, the current would still flow through you, and if you pulled away, out of sudden suprise, then you would get electricuted, not good. Unbluggin the power cord from the powersupply will not be the biggest problem, unless you have very sweaty hands and the air is very dry. Just don't play with electricity
- Q: its like a big power box the has two metal prongs, and is about 2quot;X3big and fits into the same size slot, if you push it in it gets power for a second then doesnt if you jiggle it around it gets power for a second and doenst.anyone know please?
- you need a very new cable it is corrupted
- Q: I just need the console. No controllers, power cables, AV cables, Ethernet cables, Hard Drive, and so on.I checked Google, but the only offers I can find are OKorder and RRoD'd 360s on OKorder. Do any retail stores sell just the console? Or will I have to trust nobody will send me a broken console?
- i recently bought an xbox 360 from gamestop and i bought it all seperate the console hardrive cables ect it was used but in good condition for a cheap price i would check your local store like a game stop
- Q: i cant seem to find a place to put my power cable to the inner part of the car.i dont seem to find a decent place to drill a hole to or the firewall i think its what itscalled, im using a buick regal 1992.... i was thinking of putting it through the door, is that safe?is it done sometimes or not recommended at all?
- Pull the carpet up in the front passenger cabin and you should see a plastic grommet somewhere low along the firewall that you can slip it through. That is where your factory wiring is run into the car but you can usually find enough room to slip one more in.
- Q: as far as i know, the only cable that connects the hdd with my motherboard is the sata cable, is this the cable that will do both transfer data and also provide electricty? or do i need another cable to connect the hdd and to power supply? same for my sata dvd burner, thx!
- Sata cable is slim and usually is red color. This cable only to connect your HDD to mainboard. For the power there's another cable for SATA HDD. If your power supply provide the connector, usually the head is flat and a little bit bigger than SATA cable head. but if your power supply doesn't have the connector, you can buy the converter from molex to SATA.
