It will take some time but she will get used to it and stopping hiding. The important thing is to let her adjust in her own time. You might try taking something that she has slept on and rubbing it over the chair, then putting it in the seat for a while. This will transfer her scent onto the chair. I used to have a cat that would stop in the doorway of my apartment just because I'd moved one piece of furniture 2 inches. When he finally came inside he would have to go around and sniff everything before he'd settle down. I hope this helps.

- A high chair is much more useful! Also the other choice would be a exersauser or one of those bounce things. All of my children have been in walkers and lived and they are not anywhere close to delayed. As long as a child is properly watched and not stuck in it all day long there should be no problem. Same goes with an exersauser or bouncy. All of these things are not used until about 4-6 months of age so if you are looking for something for them to use right off I would stick to diapers, wipes, soap, shampoo, lotions, and other newborn necessities.

- At that price point you won't get durability, but if that's what you can afford, so be it. Things to look for: Heavily padded arms. The seat is comfortable immediately when you try it out. Arms have removable covers. Arm covers and seat cushion cover are washable. Matching footstool or small ottoman. The chair fits you so your back is against its back and your legs bend naturally at the knee. FWIW, if you're in the US you can do better on Craigslist than in an inexpensive furniture store.
