Q: My friend has this folding papasan chair that I fell in love with. It would be great to have my own. She says the company that made it is Mainstays but from my searching, it would appear they do not make that kind of chair anymore. I'm finding it difficult to find any folding papasan chairs that are even close to the dimensions of hers, which are 36 inches high, 41 inches wide, and 37.5 inches deep. Q: I found a very cool shaped very old chair at a junk shop for $5. It is in fairly good shape and sturdy (none of the arms or legs wiggle). But it is missing the seat, which I would imagine was one time a woven cane seat that has fell out. I would prefer not to re-cane a new seat (I have done this before, but I don't find it comfortable to sit on this type of seat and they don't wear well). I would much rather put in a padded upholstered seat, but am not sure how? There is just a large hole in the middle where the seat used to be, and I'm having trouble thinking of ways to attach a piece of wood with padding and upholstery. It doesn't have to be super sturdy, as it won't have more than a 170lb person in it, and will more than likely not be used daily (it will be for our bedroom). Q: Im trying to lower my office chair but it is different then my last one. My last one had some lever that you just puch and your weight will lower it like hydralics, but this chair is different it dont have that lever the only thing it has is some type of knob that turn at the bottom. I tried that and nothing happens does anyone know how to lower these types of chairs?: If it's an old chair, it's possible that spinning the chair will raise or lower it. Otherwise, it's possible the raise/lower lever has fallen off and you can order a new one of those (look on the bottom of the chair). Or, it's possible that the chair cannot be adjusted. (the knob is just a tension adjustment as you recline...it has nothing to do with raising or lowering the chair)

Q: we have to make a news paper chair only useing 2 thursdays papers and 6ft of duck tape: I would recommend starting by separating sheets of paper and rolling them individually, really tightly. This actually creates a super strong element, and secure it by using a little piece of tape. Once you have several tightly rolled sheets (maybe about 1/2 diameter) then you can start assembling them. Be creative here, you may have to do trial and error to see what works the best. Maybe grouping thirty rolls and taping together can create the base/stool part (you may want to add more depending on how big the chair will be or how much paper you have left). Q: I have a desk chair that leans back and one of the arms broke. When you lean back in the chair it puts alot of stress on the arm and it finally snapped after a couple of years. Now when you sit in the chair it twists and it really uncomfortable. But then glue is not the right word anyway. Use a material called PL Premium Construction Adhesive. Tube section at many locations. Just don't spend much time breathing it and do not get it on your skin. This adhesive is used to stick most anything to anything - forever. Builders and masons have used this stuff for decades. The old joke is that PL will stick a Volkswagon to a brick wall. How strong? Well, if you use PL to stick two large boards together, you will never be able to break the bond - even with an axe or a ten pound sledge. The wood will be smashed to pieces and the two adhesive faces will still be solidly stuck together. As it relates to your work, I have used it to repair runners on rocking chairs and legs that have snapped apart. Still going thirty years later.
