Q: I noticed many of our server cables are thicker than the standard ones for a desktop PC. Would any power cable work, regardless of gauge? I want to use shorter server power cables for cable management purposes, since some of our server cables are over 10-15 ft. in length and only need 3 ft. or so.

Q: So I've had my laptop for about a year and a half now and I've gone through 4 power cables, 3 non-factory. What happens with each one is, I plug it in, the blue light surrounding the hole turns on, the end of the power cable that plugs into my laptop gets super hot and either melts the power cable, or when I plug the cable in, the light won't come on unless I have it in just right. This usually starts to happen between one and three months after I get a new cable. It's starting to go through them faster now, any ideas?
Get it repaired. There might be a short circuit inside the socket. It will ruin your computer if you dont act now. You will lose your laptop or spend more if the laptop itsel gets damaged.
Q: i just want to select the power cable but i m having some confusion that when we select single core power cable we take current rating of that conductor but if we say 3-core cable has 200A capacity then it means that each core has this capacity or it is the the capacity of overall 3-cores
Current ratings for conductors are based on several factors including conductor type (Copper, Aluminum, other), insulation material (thermoplastic, rubber, asbestos composition), ambient temperature, length, exposure to weather, and numerous other factors stipulated by the NEC or local Code. The ratings are usually given for a single conductor in free air. Mulitiple current carrying conductors which share a conduit, raceway, or any other enclosure must be derated appropriately. Q: If Not What Do I Have To Look Out For Because Im Looking For A New Power Supply Fan.
there's no such thing as a PS fan. the PSU is self contained, there is a fan in the unit, but you can't replace just the fan. You will have to replace the whole PSU.
Q: Last step to install my amp is the Power Cable. Their is a fuse device i must attach to the cord so im guessing i have to cut the gauge install it on both sides and run it to the battery. Does it matter were this fuse device connects? because i want it right next to my amp.thnx
It sounds like your talking about a inline fuse holder and if thats true it dosent matter where its located as long as its between your battery and amplifier

Q: my sub came loose and started sliding around in my boot until the power cable got ripped out of the amp while i was driving at it was on. When i tried putting the power back in it just blew the fuses, so i bought some more, and they blew as soon as they went in as well, and one of the bits of metal melted putting one it! strathfield said its 45 for an inspection, plus the cost of fixing it. any ideas whats wrong with it and if i can fix it myself??cheers.
You can repair this if you already know what you are doing. Each wire in the cable terminates on a specific terminal. (A power cable can be expected to have 2 wires, a red and a black for pos12v and neg12v respectively. Reverse these wires even for a moment and wave your amp goodbye, unless there is protection built in if you're lucky) So ... Do you know all the repair proceedures? Do you know what wire belongs to what terminal? (No trial and error allowed here) If you have any doubt about doing this right first time then you are unable to fix it your self, and it would be better to take it to the experts and pay for repair.

Q: lets say for an optical drive, the power cable has four pins. im guessing that there is power (12v?) and ground but what about the other two?im trying to plug a pair or old neon sticks into my car for accent lighting and i need to know where to put these wires at, if they are all neccessary.

Q: I'm getting a new graphics card and my PC does not have the 6 pin power adapter already installed so i will have to buy the wire myself and connect it to the power supply.Only problem is i don't really have any clue on how to do so and can't find anything anywhere on how to do it.That's pretty much it and thanks in advance.
