- Q:I just got him 3 days ago. I feed him at 7am and then take him out for 15-20 minutes to potty, at 10am i leave to work and leave a little bit of food and water. I work from 10am-6pm (2-3 days a week), and i can't come by at lunch. My neighbor has agreed to check up on him, but not i'm not sure if at 12 or 1. He's already peed and pooped all over the living room and i know that's normal for a puppy because they can't hold it too long.Around 6:30-7pm i feed him again and then take him outside for another 15-20 minutes. I noticed that he doesn't like to be on the sidewalk and is usually messing around where ever there is grass. My question is when i'm home, How many times should i take my puppy out when i'm home? Is there a general rule? Is 15-20 minutes enough for the puppy? I don't have a backyard, it only a small area for him to walk on concrete but the front has a small grass area.Thanks.
- He should also go out as soon as you get home from work and right before you go to bed and as soon as you wake up in the morning and right before you leave. He should still be going out right after he eats. He should have at least 40 min. of walking/running outside everyday (if weather permits) plus the potty breaks where you stay close to the house to speed it up. Also, you might find it better to crate train him or at least have him in a pen if you don't already while you are gone and sleeping. There should not be any food left down when it is not feeding time and especially when you are not available to take him out. And only a little water should be provided, not enough to make him need to pee. One more thing. Right now he will prefer to walk on grass because his pads are soft and tender. On your walks you should alternate between letting him walk on grass and making him walk on the road. Good luck!

- Q:I am having my parents over in July and would like to have some pretty flowering plants in containers. Is it too late to plant them?
- Gardening 1-2-3 by Home Depot. You can go to Home Depot and buy it. Or you can go to Books A Million, they have sale books section. Some gardening books by Ortho are 50% off.
- Q:My mom and I are growing some summer squash in our garden. All of the squash up untill this point have rotted and then eventually develop this white (yeast like) fuzz on them with black tips. Now we have three very nice and harvestable sized squash on the plant now. Are these healthy looking ones safe to eat?I'm worried my plant has some disease and I know nothing about gardening as this is my first year with a garden. I'm sure as long as they don't show any signs of rotting, odd coloration, mushiness etc they are fine to eat but you never know. Thanks for any help
- You have been suffering blossom end rot. They are safe to eat, and enjoy
- Q:what do i need and how do i start one?
- Those are good suggestions, but remember if you want butterflies, you must have caterpillars and supply food plants for them. There are two books I would recommend, one is a tiny pocket sized book called Painted Ladies. The other is a thick paperback, Caterpillars of North America, and is the only comprehensive book of caterpillars so far printed that identifies them and what butterflies they turn into, as well as food sources. There is also a Peterson guide to caterpillars. Most of the butterfly guides, while good for identifying butterflies, do not list most of the caterpillars. Please learn your caterpillars so that you do not inadvertently kill them. Some food plants for them are the carrot family, dill, fennel and parsley, for black and yellow swallowtail caterpillars; milkweed for Monarchs; and one huge beautiful Fritillary needs violets for egglaying and food for the caterpillars, tho the butterfly itself feeds on milkweed and other flowers. There is also a Pipevine Swallowtail that only feeds on Dutchman's pipe vine. Some caterpillars overwinter as larva in leaf detrius, so it is a good idea to not clean up everything in the fall, but leave the habitat for them. There are also lots of plants that moths like, and there are some beautiful moths, such as the luna moth (in the Lunesta commercial) as well as butterflies. Also, you must never use insecticides on your plants, as it is non selective, and kills the butterflies and caterpillars as well as the garden pests.
- Q:How to modest your garden with furniture?
- Outdoor garden furniture can bring beauty and elegance to your home garden. Being a natural product, wood is considered to be the best material for kind of setting. An ideal wood material for garden furniture is teak, which is excellent quality and long lasting, which is why it is frequently used for indoor and outdoor furniture. Teak has many advantages over other wood material for garden furniture: * Teak wood is good-looking, smooth, sturdy and durable. * It is resistant to bad weather and insects. A garden bench made of teak is capable of withstanding rain and sunlight for several years even without periodic maintenance. * Unlike furniture made of other materials, teak furniture doesn't require artificial polishing or oiling. * Teak wood is rich with silica and natural oil content that make it resistant to all kinds of insects. * Teak is very suitable for structural works and carved designs for its sturdiness, elasticity and ease of use. * Teak wood does not get rotted or splintered even if it remains in contact with metals like iron for years due to the presence of silica and oil content. * Cleaning and maintaining teak furniture is pretty easy.
