Q: seeing how you cant buy ammonia nitrate (triple 13 or triple 8 )whats next best thing for over all fertilizer for home garden
take your dog's crap and use that. Its cheaper than buying the stuff. I know that sounds gross but I did that with my dogs crap and it works. If you dont have a dog, then use your own. Again, i know thats gross but itll work.
Q: can we use the water taken from the well to water the home garden..
Its probably the best water to get unless you have a creekyou can pump water from. In my little town, the whole town gets water from a well. But, the EPA has done tests over the last 10 years and the water is JUST barely fit for human consumption, but everybody's garden grows great. City water isn't really water is it? After all the processing? Its the same difference between a home grown tomato and one from a grocery store. They just ain't the same, close but not the same.
Q: I understand that the shrinking and expanding of the logs is a problem with log homes. Is this less with cedar logs? Is it ok to mix log types such as cedar and oak? Is there a sealer that will stop the logs from getting enough moister to expand?Have any of you ever used cement between the logs like the older style cabins had? Any body out there a log home builder?I have seen homes with adjustment bolts to at the top of the walls to compensate for the expansion. But i do not see that in many photos in the log home magazines, does this mean they are just shooting the photos from angles that will not allow the viewer to see the bolts?............. And in reality all log homes have these bolts, and it is unavoidable or what? If anyone can help me with this I would be thankful.
I doubt that there are experts in log houses on this site, though you may find some over in the Home Garden section. However, it IS pretty easy to find issues regarding log houses on the internet, and that is where you might want to start your research. This site is a log house maintenance firm which discusses many problems those types of houses has, including rot, types of chinking, etc.

Q: I have a project for my job, which is coming up with fun or entertaining activities that would be beneficial to the environment and that the community and students can participate in. The community garden is the FH King community garden in UW-Madison.
Have you considered looking at citizen science projects that require people to conduct surveys of plants, bugs, etc.
Q: where can you buy Jackfruit here in southern California?
lol this is the first time, ive gone to home and garden and this was the first to catch my eye. but my answer would also be an asian market. My mom always brings home jackfruit in a can. and even fresh ones and throws them in our freezer. sooo good!
Q: Long story short, I had a sharper image home theater 2.1 speaker system
accessories4less(dot)com There's super cheap receivers there. All you need is a basic 2.1 stereo receiver. You can get a Onkyo TX-8255 for $119 which will work fine, for those types of speakers you wont need alot of power at all, trust me. If you wanna go super dirt cheap look for a sony stereo receiver but they suck and arent reliable. Be sure that sub connects through an RCA and is a powered sub, if its a passive sub that connects through speaker wire then you wont be able to buy a receiver that will connect right.
Q: It had things in it like wooden shelves and boyds bear blankets and home decor. I would like to know the name of the company

Q: I have a large garden in my backyard that I am trying to cultivate. However the soil is very clay-like and hardens quickly like corn field dirt. Its too large to cover with miracle grow or anything and hand tilling it as well as keeping things alive in it is very hard. Any suggestions?
Start with a smaller area, make some raised beds out of wood, and place the frames on the ground. Dig the soil inside each frame, and pile it all around the out side. Find out if someone has horse manure that they want to get rid of, and fill you raised bed with horse manure. Water the horse manure for two weeks, then buy strong flower and veggie plants, and plant them in the raised bed. This will give you a start until your soil gradually improves. One more thing about horse manure, a lot of cities collect, and take it to the dump. See if they would bring you a load.
Q: I live in Philadelphia and I am growing - tomatoesgreen beans pepperscucumbersAny helpful tips???Thanks ; )
Hello Penny long time no see mate. We are entering winter here in Australia and I am planting peas at the moment onions are in with some carrots, lettuces and some silver-beat. We had a horrible summer far too much humidity drifting down from the North of the continent and it was the first time I have ever had end spot on my tomatoes in the 30 years of growing here in this location. Anyway; Tomato tips Google youtube fantastic vids on growing tomatoes in your neck of the woods mate. When planting seedlings or growing from seed when growing in one spot in your garden is, make sure you put your stakes in first and the idea of the ice-cream plastic container with the bottom out is a good idea. I use plastic soft drink bottles, the big ones like 2 litre types with the bottom cut off so as to protect the seedlings in winds and early frosts until big enough take the bottle covers off and keep them for another day or dispose of it in the recycling bin. The other is to stop cut-off worms and snails from climbing about and helping themselves to the young seedlings. Green beans bush or climbing ones just plant in the ground and watch out for those pesky birds who will think the new green shoots are little worms and they want to suck them up. Um-mm. Again when dropping the seeds into the ground you can place a plastic bottle over them. Acts as a mini green house effect until the bean plants are hardy. Cucumbers like to climb on trellises too and keeps the fruit off the ground. Peppers are similar to tomatoes to grow. Well Penny happy gardening it is a very rewarding and healthy past time there friend way over the ocean so deep and so wide.
