- In my opinion they are not worth the money you pay for them. Fine for tiny little messes like spilt dust but not for anything else. You spend more time cleaning them out than using them. I wouldnt waste my money on them. Much better to buy a smaller sized vacuum cleaner rather than a mini one.

- Yeah. Since this whole Higgs Boson thing turned out to be no big deal, maybe the LHC can concentrate on mass producing tiny black holes to clean up dust in carpets and hard to reach corners.
- Q: With Mother's Day around the corner I thought I'd ask something we all can use.There seems to be this idea floating around that many women don't like to receive things like vacuum cleaners, irons, etc. and would rather recieve something more sentimental in value. Men, on the other hand, love receiving tools and things that they can use to do things with.Most of the women in my family like getting things they can use like a vacuum cleaner or something to cook with, so I have to wonder if that thought is really true. - It depends. I think this idea came from husbands giving wives vaccum cleaners for gifts, instead of something for that person's genuinely personal use (and enjoyment). Also, if you both vacuum half the time, then a vacuum isn't a present for the other person, but for you both. There are some holidays that are supposed to be more personal and romantic -- so, unless you KNOW it's all she wants, not brooms for Valentine's Day, if you follow me. Mostly, it depends knowing the recipient -- which is a lot of what gifts are supposed to be about; did you give thought to what THIS person would want; do you actually KNOW this person, or are you clueless. (Thus, coming from a hubby, when he should know better, is part of the problem.)

- I had a lot of trouble with vacuums to. I have purchased a Kirby vacuum last year and it works great. Yes they are expensive but it have a great warranty on it so if it breaks I bring it in to get fixed and they even let me borrow one of there's until they are finished with the repair. They never discontinue the bags either.

- The quietest one I know is a Ghibli. I have one. If you're standing beside it, you can talk to someone in a normal voice. Mine doesn't have a beater bar which is the noisiest part of a vacuum cleaner but has lots of suction and does a very good job on carpets without it. Go to a vacuum specialty store and see what they have. I understand that Miele is very quiet too. When you're checking out vacuum cleaners, note that most of them give a decibel rating in the specs
- Q: What value does Voltage indicate for vacuum suction?
- You need to explain this better, it makes no sense as it is. edit: no way to know exactly. Voltage alone tells you nothing. But the power used (in watts) could be a guide, if you have that number, in watts. 1400 mA-hour is a measure of the charge stored in the battery, so that is no help, as you need a time number to convert that to mA, which, with the voltage, can give you power in watts. My experience is that hand held vacuum cleaners are all very feeble.
- Q: and which is best
- I recently moved to a house that has hardwood floors with area rugs from a fully carpeted house. When my windtunnel stopped working I bought a canister vac with a container I empty when it gets full. I have 1 dog 2 cats so I dump it 2-3 times before I am done vacuming the whole house some furniture. The suction power is lacking alot compared to the bags. I really prefer the bags(in hind sight)
- Q: I have just a small apartment and need to get a small vacuum cleaner. But something that has good suction, and won't be useless after 5 uses. A few years ago, I bought a Bissell quot;stickvacuum cleaner and it was a waste. It barely picked up dirt from a floor, let alone a carpet. Any good suggestion will be appreciated.
- Try a Shark Rocket (model HV300). I have one and it does a good job at cleaning carpets and hard floors!

- not sure but it has been several years I don't know anyone personally that has one I would like to try one but way too expensive for me!
