- Q: In the last three months I have purchased two separate vacuum cleaners from Wal-Mart.....granted they were cheap...but they were also all I could afford. I am so fed up.....I can't afford an Orek or a Hoover....is there a cheap vacuum that wont quit on me??? Price range from 50-80 dollars????......Please help!!!
- First, take your vacuums back to Walmart and get your money back. You might go to a thrift store and see what they have available. My friend got an almost new Rainbow for what you are paying for a cheap vacuum..she was lucky..you may be lucky,too.
- Q: Our vacuum cleaner brush roller is not working. My husband has already tried to fix it himself, but he can't find out what's wrong. We've already replaced the belts and the brush roller doesn't seem to be worn down or missing any pieces. Does anyone have any idea how much it might cost to get it fixed if I take it into a vacuum repair shop? The vacuum is only a year old and everything else works fine, the roller just isn't rolling.
- This may sound silly, but it happened to me. Our vacuum brush roller stopped working, too. Turned out that the sliding switch that gave the bare floor/carpet option wasn't fully engaged. If you have a switch like that, check it. Also, if you still have the manual for it you may want to check under the troubleshooting section or look on their website. At any rate, I take my vacuum cleaners to Sears for repairs. It usually runs me $60.00 - $80.00, depending on the problem. You may want to shop around. Ask people in your area who they go to. Sears is more expensive, but they're reputable and stand behind their work. Hope this helps!

- Less noisy - the noise comes from the power of the engine, and hand vacs are not as powerful. They would be more like a quiet blender.

- I purchased a Kirby Generation 3 vacuum twenty years ago. It has never broken down or malfunctioned or needed service of any kind. It works as well as the day I bought it and I use the wood floor buffer, the upholstery cleaner and the rug cleaner features, too. I have wood floors throughout my home with hand hooked area rugs here and there. This vacuum does a great job. I paid just under 1100 in 1989. All of my friends have since gone through several vacuums in 20 years, some spending over what I paid for just one vacuum. So, in that regard, yes, it is worth it because I still have my Kirby and it's showing no signs of loosing air. The only thing I hate about vacuums is the way it is spelled!!
- Q: I have a two piece standard Kenmore vacuum (not an upright vacuum but one of those that the hose attaches to the body). Anyways, I was vacuuming and then all of a sudden the roller quit spinning. I thought maybe some string or some other obstruction was preventing the roller from spinning or perhaps the belt broke. But I took everything apart and found out the motor doesn't spin. I can't even spin it manually. If I remember right shouldn't the motor be able to spin freely? My motor is stuck and won't spin and I can't find any obstruction preventing it from spinning.Any thoughts?And secondly, can you clarify if the motor should spin freely when the vacuum is turned off because I could have sworn that in the past if anything got wrapped around the roller (like string) I could easily unwind it.

- Q: I have bought 4 vacuum cleaners in the past that all have fallen apart or just quit running right in the middle of using them, and all were less than 6 months old. I got tired of buying high price vacuum cleaners and them not lasting even 90 days. I have bought Hoover, Eureka, Dirt devil, and Phantom vacuums all of them turning out to be what I would say to be large rip offs.
- i've had my shark navigator for over a year and it's just like new. we've 4 long hair rescue cats and the machine's used almost daily somewhere in the house. even gets all the litter up off the tile floor. terrific suckion. great price . can be found at target, walgreen, best buy, online at shark, on tv ads. priced very well and is better at getting job done than my costly dyson animal vac
- Q: I'm just curious about how often people vacuum. I have gone through yet another vacuum cleaner in a little over a year. I think it is because I vacuum every day sometimes twice a day and most people I know have vacuums that last years but they only do it once a week...possibly twice a week at the most. Thanks!
- LOL..Not as much as I would like. My Daughter HATES the Vacuum cleaner and I cant vacuum when she is hear, nor when she is asleep. Also, Im a SAHM so she is here with me all the time. But,I vacuum once or twice a week when my Mom has her.

- There is not a set price for a Kirby. The salesman pays a set price but is free to charge as much or little as he thinks he can get. They usually start asking for about $1600. They are not worth it. Neither is Rainbo. A Royal Commercial is very similar to the Kirby but in my opinion better made. And half the price. If you want a good vacuum go to a janitorial supply. Be prepared though. They still are not cheap. But Commercial will last and do a better job. I can't stand Kirby.

- high rpm (10k-19k) low hp ac motor. very loud They have to have tons of air moving by them and they're duty cycle is still low.
- Q: Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?
- because we except our vacuum's to do what they are made for. To pick stuff up off the floor. I'm not saying I except it to pick up a ball of yarn, but a stray thread from a sweater or something should go in!
