- Q:My husband has really long, really strong hair. We've killed quite a few vacuum cleaners with his hair (the hair wraps around the spinny thing and inevitably breaks the motor). Because of this, I'm assuming I can't get that kind of vacuum cleaner: stand up vacuum with the spinning brush. What type and/or brand of vacuum should I get?
- You can have the kind of vacuum cleaner with a spinning brush, which is the kind that works best for cleaning carpets. You just have to look after it and since you know that long hair is a problem then clean it out of the vacuum cleaner once in a while. A canister vacuum that gives you a choice between using the spinning brush or using a floor brush only might be a good choice. However, if you vacuum a carpet with just a floor brush it doesn't work that well and it doesn't matter how powerful the vacuum is. The beating action of that spinning brush is what knocks dirt out of the carpet so it can be vacuumed up. A floor brush probably won't even pick up all the hair and it definitely won't get all the dust out of the carpet. This isn't about how the machine performs. This is about you not giving the machine the maintenance it needs for the conditions it's being used in.
- Q:Are there energy star vacuum cleaners?
- It's called a broom.
- Q:Which do you own more of?
- Brooms x3
- Q:What is the point of this, if you are more than likely not going to be vacuuming at night? I've heard people say that it is to quot;know if a specific area is cleanbut I mean seriously... I don't think you really need lights do you?? Just vacuum during the day perhaps? Works for me and I don't have a dirty house.
- The more expensive vacuums will have lights. They add a $2 part and increase the price by $50.
- Q:On a scale of one to one dozen, how do you rate purple vacuum cleaners?
- A dozen less one... (I never give a full dozen)...
- Q:I have one of those Roomba sweeper robots which I really like since it saves time, but my mom doesn't seem to like it for some reason that I don't know. Does anyone here have one, and how do you think it does?
- I'm pretty sure it would explode if it saw my floors.
- Q:Just a couple of the many tips that I have for vacuum cleaners. So, what's the clogger king?HAIRPINS, BOBIPINS! I service vacuum cleaners and the number one thing I find in the hoses of clogged vacuums are the hairpins that end up lodged sideways there because the spinning brushroller underneath the vacuum separates the pin and everything that follows must somehow travel around the pin. It's usually a small piece of cardboard, or a matchbook cover.REMEDY?Get yourself a magnet and skim the floor first. You can also get a magnetic strip that goes across the front of the vacuum online at any vacuum cleaner parts supplier. Now, for the filters.Hepa's CLOG! FAST! The vacuum cleaner manufactures know this and they screw you out of your money. PERIOD!Hoover uses ELECTROSTATIC MEDIA to make their filters. So you know what they do. 99.97%...SO DO THESE:A TEN PACK OF 4X 11ELECTROSTATIC REGISTER VENT FILTERS- cut-STACK-glueCOST?$2.79where? Lowe's in the furnace filter section.
- Thanks, my dog's hair ALWAYS clogs my vacuum
- Q:Anyone have any experience with a Dyson?
- You simply can't beat a Dyson. I am a bit of a clean freak and vacuum a couple of times a week. When My WindTunnel broke I did a lot of research and bought the Dyson. I was SHOCKED when I used it the first time and saw how much stuff it picked up that my previous one didn't. I have had it six months and each time it pulls up an amazing amount of stuff. It is bagless and the ads they run saying it doesnt loose suction are very much true. It is very strong and is designed to have a built in 14' (I think) extension wand which easily goes up my stairs while the vacuum itself stays at the bottom. It also does my ceiling fans with ease. My house has hardwood, tile and thick burber carpet so I know how well it works on all of them. As for price, it isn't cheap but well worth it. I shopped around and bought mine at a Bed Bath and Beyond with one of their 20% off coupons that come every couple of weeks. Hope this helps!
- Q:I just moved into my first apartment and there is rug all throughout the house, I don't really know much about vacuum cleaners, but I need to get one, I want a good one but for less than $100, can someone please help me!!!
- Make sure that it is a 12AMP. Don't buy anything smaller! Also, I prefer the bagless, costs less to use it in the long run! Go to an Appliance Repair shop, they have all kinds of Reconditioned(rebuilt) vacuums, and most of those have the same warranty as a new one!!!
- Q:Which came first, wall-to-wall carpeting or vacuum cleaners?
- Thee are paintings in the 1700's showing upper class families with fitted carpets, so the fitted carpet came first.
