Q:2 days ago when I came home I noticed that the toilet was leaking water and the whole bathroom floor was flooded. Even the carpet between the bathroom and the kitchen got soaking wet. I do not mean tear out the carpet and padding just lift it up so the blower will reach the wet area. Equipment rental places have them or some carpet cleaning companies use them also. Blowers are specifically made to dry carpets etc. it is not just a big fan. You need to make sure the subfloor (the plywood or concrete that is under the padding) is dry also. If there is already a bad smell you might want to spray the area under the carpet with mildew remover/bleach. DO NOT get any on the carpet ONLY underneath.

Q:Okay so I know a lot of you are like ew, why does your carpet smell? But I need some serious help its embarrassing. My aunt smokes and I borrowed some shoes from her and if you've ever come in contact with a smoker you know the smell gets into everything. My room started to smell of musty cigerette's and I found it was the carpet because of the shoes. I've tried this Glade Carpet Room Odors but it just seems to mask the smell terribly instead of getting rid of it. I have personally purchased two runners and stapled them, one after the other, onto my stairs. It was supposed to be a quick-fix but it turned out so well, that here we are 7 years later and it still looks great. If you select a runner with a boarder, begin at the top of the steps. Once you work your way down the steps, you may have to cut off the edge of the rug (boarder) and then some, so the cut lands at the end of a riser above a stair tread. If you want the boarder to show at the bottom of the steps, begin the second runner at the bottom of the steps and work up to the other runner until they meet in the riser crease. This will look like it is all one custom piece with a boarder all around the edges. Good luck. To protect your floors from further damage until you can get around to either refinishing the floors or installing wall to wall carpeting, I would certainly use rug pads under any runners or throw rugs. Q:I have a rug in my bathroom, the fluffy kind with the rubber bottom that you step out on after you get out of the shower. It's kind of funky and needs to be washed, but I don't know how I'm supposed to wash it. Can I just throw it into the washing machine like a towel as long as I run it on the cold cycle? Sometimes I have to wash them on hot (which isn't good for them) but we have a new puppy (and a couple of times she's used them for potty time) and it's either they take a few hot washings or I have to throw them away. Q:bought a hookah to celebrate turning 19, and my cat knocked over the hookah while we were smoking. Lets just say there is a nickle sized burn in the carpet. Is there ANYTHING I can do? My bf is being a jerk and told me I need to sell my hookah now since it burned the carpet (he doesn't want it in the house anymore), and I'm extremely irritated because it is mine. I smoke legal shisha out of it.-we are renting the house from his parents, and are looking for the least damaging way to cover or fix it. I have no problem explaining this to his parents, but would like to fix it if possible.: Cut out the burnt section and glue in a piece of scrap carpet! Go to a carpet store and get a carpet repair tool. They're only a few bucks. Some adhesive disks and carpet glue. Now take your cutting tool and cut out the damaged section. Be careful to not cut through the carpet fibers themselves. Next cut a replacement section from the donor carpet also being careful not to cut the carpet fibers. Next you will peel off the cover on the adhesive disk and place it in the empty hole. Now put some glue around the edge of the hole and insert your patch trying to match the grain of the carpet. (Carpet has a distinct grain). Press the patch firmly into place and put a weight on top of the area. Let it dry at least twenty four hours before putting the carpet to use.
