Q:My bathroom vanity and sinks are old. Instead of replacing them, I was wondering if they could be updated similar to the way bathtubs are updated?: What are they now? You can use that same stuff to do bathtubs on your porcelain sink. Maybe just stain the vanity. Putting in some new sink hardware if needed. I just did somewhat the same in my extra bathroom. I didnt want to spend alot or replace them either. Stain $6, Tub repair kit $45 (did tub and sink), Light fixture $30, Faucet $30. $100 total and a days work for a redone bathroom, wasnt bad. If you use the Tub Kit I would recommend getting the aerosol type. I used the brush on stuff before and It was much more of a hassle and didnt come out as nice as the aerosol. Not sure about durability tho, hopefully just as good.

Q:My husband was installing our new bathroom vanity after recent flood damage and the cabinet was just a bit too wide to slide into the spot. So he decided instead of sanding the drywall down he just cut it out. Now I have a 2 inch large hole in the drywall all around the sink and the sink protrudes a bit into the drywall. Not a huge problem except that we have to put a back splash back up around the sink to replace the existing we took out and I have nothing to adhere it to. I was told to get the mesh drywall patch and joint compound and just patch it but the sink still protrudes and I have nothing to really secure the patch to. I cant pull the cabinet out either because he already hooked up the water lines/plumbing. Help!: Just put the backsplash over the hole. The backsplash is maybe 4 inches tall? Use some strong construction adhesive on the top part and a small bead on the countertop.

Q:Today I putted on my sink and water was coming out.... And the little center cap that sucks the water in the pipe is flat down not centered and the white pipe is loose and I tried to hold it up the water was goin thourgh the pipe but when I let go the water leaks out again I don't know how to tighten it I don't even know if that's the problem please help...: There is a nut on the bottom of the sink just under the rubber washer. You can tighten this nut and it will secure the tail piece securely again. The question is why did it loosen up? Also before you tighten it get yourself some plumbers putty and make a 3/16 inch rope of it that will go around the intire flange. slip this under the edge before you tighten down the nut. It gives a double seal for the sink and won't allow water to seap out. If you have any questions email me and I'll try and get you through it

Q:My washing machine is next door to my downstairs bathroom. When the washer empties its water, the water comes up through the bathroom sink and sometimes even overflows. Either that or you might have installed the washer drain close to the bathroom pipes. Try redirecting the washer drain pipes on a separate drain path. You can also check if something is clogging the pipes. Use a shop vacuum to remove collected debris inside the drain.

Q:I share the bathroom with my parents and theirs is really clean!!! But its all the way at the other side of the house so i use my brothers during the night. And there are tiny bugs sorta like magots in the sink it grosses me out so much i dont wash my hands. Do you think i should clean it and kill them or what???
