Q:I needed a new tail light for my trailer. The aftermarket tail lights only came with two wires sticking out the back, one red and one black. The stock tail light that broke had 3 wires and so does the harness on the trailer end. People have told me that even though it is different it will work. Do I join the two hot wires together with the red wire and then the return wire to the black? There is no wiring diagram avalible and I dont have the money to replace then entire lighting system. Thanks for your help.
Pull the lens and look at the bulb. If it is a 2 element bulb then it will work, if it is a single element it will not. If it is a 2 element then one of the wires is turn and stop light and the other is tail light. It will use a body ground in that case. On your trailer harness you will have a brown wire, that is tail lights, the turn and stop light (same wire) will be either green or yellow depending on what side of the trailer you are on. The white wire is ground. The turn and stop light will be much brighter than the tail light so just twist the wires together and see which is which. You can hook the white wire to the mounting screw of the light fixture to be sure you have a good ground.
Q:how do I wire the generator so it can spin 360 on the pole with out snapping the wires.... Thanks
You need some ring contacts and brushes that will be touching those rings that will be spinning while the generator does to complete a circuit without twisting wires. Make sure you get the right size rings and wire for the amount of current
Q:Im cleaning up some of the wires in the engine bay and getting rid of ones i dont use. Right now theresthe pos side bat post runs down to the starter. From the starter there is a thicker wire and a skinny wire. In the thicker wire there is a wire that goes to the post on alternator. Both wires from starter run over to a relay maybe ithas a stud sticking out and has a wire that goes from the bottom of it to the fuse box. Im in middle of relocating the battery into the trunk so what wires can i eliminate and what wires have to go,to the battery?
All these wires were put there for a purpose. Best if you left it all alone (including leaving the battery up front)
Q:The question is can i complete a ac circuit if i connect a live from one wire to a neutral from another.
hire an electrician dont get yourself electricuted hun <3
Q:I am wiring a GFCI receptacle with two regular receptacles after it.So before the GFCI I have my 12/2 wire from where it will hook into the box (the line side), after it I have my wire going to the two other receptacles (the load side).Well the GFCI receptacle has screw terminals for the line HOT and WHITE wires as well as a GROUND. On the bottom it has screw terminals for the load side but ONLY the HOT and WHITE, no ground screw.Does this mean that I don't hook up the ground for the load wire or does it mean I have to pigtail the ground to the same screw the line ground is using?I didn't want to assume that I connect the line and load grounds out of fear I was circumventing the GFCI.
Yes, You have to splice the grounds together and then pigtail to the gfci. Hope this helps
Q:like in movies how do you connect like some wire to start the car? also which wires? I'm curious not trying to take anyone's car.
Connect wire 'A' to wire 'B'...Briefly touch wire 'C' to wire 'D' (until engine starts) see figure 1. Disclaimer: These instructions are not to be used for illegal purposes...
Q:I have a minivan with a flat 5 pin wiring connecter at back. We bought an old utility trailer with no wiring. It has the two rear lights, one on each side with 2 wires sticking out of each. We got the flat 5 pin trailer connector to connect to the van and bought a long piece of cable which has the white, brown, green and yellow wires in it. Where do I connect what? I have the wire that connects to the van with the four colours and 2 wires coming out of each light for the trailer. Thanks!
ok wiring 101 just think of the road yellow line left side =left hand signal. green grass right side of road = right hand signal. brown = leave the dirt behind =running lights .white ground your trailer is wired
Q:Where, online, can I find a (color!) wiring diagram for my 1985 Yamaha Virago 700?My motorcycle starter solenoid isn't throwing because the little wire isn't getting connected to negative -- it might be a connection to the handlebar starter switch, or the quot;run/offswitch, or the side stand sensor, or the neutral sensor, or something else! I need to see a diagram so I can tell what that something else is, and to see what color the wires from all those other sensors are.
The early Virago's had bad starters and this was common until about 1992. The easiest thing to do is just replace the starter with a new on that has these problem ironed out. The basic bike was very good but the starter was a big problem.
Q:when we connect the amp wire to the car battery we first remove the negative side then connect the amp wire to the negative side and reconnect the negative battery wire thing. is this correct?
Battery Wire
Q:What are those strange ball-like things that are on some electric/telephone wires? I think they're on electric wires. I've always wondered.
I believe they are usually on the top most wire and are designed to alert aircraft of danger. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
