- Q: has black wires.
- Two black wires in the box would be a hot from the supply and a switched hot to the load. If the timer has only two wires then it should be pretty easy to just connect them. If they are marked line and load then you would have to hook the wire for line to the wire in the box that is always hot from the supply and the other to the wire marked load. If you are still unsure then it really is not a job for you alone, enlist the help of someone with a bit more experience or even an electrician.
- Q: I was doing some homemade circuit wiring and had a plug wired to a push button switch, wired to the load,(lamp light) then wired back to the plug. My question is the first time around I used 14g wire and it worked fine, light came on at the push button. Second time I used the same plug, 16gauge wire wired to the switch, to the load(this time a miniature bulb that sat in a smaller version of those pull lights in closets) and then back to the plug. When it was switched on nothing happened. So I went back to the 16gauge and wired it up and the bulb popped. Is this because the wire used is to small and not rated to carry the amps provided by the wall receptacle?
- Not sure, but I think you used a 12 V bulb instead of a 110V.
- Q: In MA. What type of wiring should I use, and do I need any type of protection for the wire.
- I would use simple 12-18 Volt (low voltage) garden path lighting with a focused beam spotlight. You won't need to protect the wiring if you do that. If you use 110-120 Volt wiring, you're going to need to bury conduit to protect the wiring. The low voltage stuff is alot easier.
- Q: Quick question with hopefully an easy answer. I had a dimmer switch go bad on a light in a dining room. I bought a new switch and put it in. It was working fine, so I thought, then I noticed that when the dining room light is off, the dimmer works on everything else on the circuit, for example outside lights, hall lights, etc. I can dim all of those things when this switch certainly didn't do that before. Also, if the dining room light is on, all of the other things on the circuit I mentioned before do not work at all. I've obviously incorrectly wired the switch somehow, any thoughts on what I did incorrectly and how to fix?
- Funny to me but not for you! Not to worry I'll try to help you out, when you were replacing the switch it sounds to me that you crossed the hot and the switch leg. Open the switch up and turn the power off a the breaker before you go into the switch swap the leads by that I mean connect the leads from the top of the switch to the bottom of the switch and bottom to top hopefully this will solve your problem.
- Q: Okay, i put a cd player in my Integra wrong in the first place an i blew my headlights, dash lights, and taillights. Are there separate wiring harness/ for the motor and interior? I have a B-series, I'm looking at a B-series Wiring Harness online an is that what i need? Or is there a separate interior wiring harness i need to make my lights work again? Help would be appreciated.

- Q: I got the Rem wire down connected it to cd deck. But what does Rem stand for and what does it do?Remote Wire? what the hell it do where it run off?
- The blue and white wire on the back of car stereos is not a remote wire, it is the antenna wire for power antennas. Which does not require 12 volts to power on the antenna motor. The remote wire is the same thing as the REM wire, REM is short for remote. This wire is used to send a 12 volt signal to external amplifiers to turn them on when the stereo is turned on.
- Q: Need ro know where to put the wires correctly
- try this K I S S power off keep it simple stupid NOW ,(((((turn the power off))))) at the wall you have a receptacle big brn thing slotted angled. If that is what you are talking about you lay the wires in it and screw the screw tight the top wires that angle are your hots black and red. there will be a green screw the bare grd goes there really tight, the white wire goes near the bottom or the silver screw the hots will be brassey looking , does not matter which goes where. (((((power off)))) power off At the dryer, this cord Gray flat with wires should have eyelets on it .Check and make sure your PLUG matches your receptacle The two wires on outside and the other on the other side , outside will be colored black and red, remaove the nut and place the oustside wires on the outside screws and tighten nuts bare wire to GREEN screw. AT the end of the dryer cord, if yo uare replacing the plug at the end of the cord which goes into the receptacle. you will have two brassey screws black and red go here remove about 3/4 of an inch of the colored insulation and insert in the hole this will put the wires in the right spot . you will have a sivler or white screw white goes there along with the green wire if you do not have the hole for it . Now turn power on and you are good to go
- Q: Hey there, so my cat chewed through some of my wires, what should I do to like fix them?
- Splice in new wire. Cover any missing insulation with electrical tape.
- Q: The wire on my headphones were cut clean off in the middle of the wire. Is there any way it can be fixed? I tried to find out other ways but it seems one of the only ways is to strip the wire of its covering. Is there a way to fix it without burning the wires?
- Strip an inch of the wires using a knife - don't burn anything, plastic gives off toxic fumes. Edit: use a very sharp knife or a stanley knife, slice towards the end of the wire, repeat until the end of the wire is stripped. Take 1 each of the wires that were cut, twirl them round each other like ivy twists around a branch, tape up the wire, repeat with the other two wires, then tape around them all. If the connection between the cut wires is good then the headphones should work like nothing happened.
