- Q: I had to press 5 different types of leaves from my yard for part of my science project. I put newspaper, then the leaves, then a little more newspaper, then my english textbook, a dictionary, and a gallon of water. I let it sit for a week. My results:Australian bottle tree, Australian willow, kumquat bush, and lemon tree leaves worked perfectly.But... the ficus leaf (still got flattened and everything) is BROWN!What happened?I need to know ASAP so I know if I should try the ficus again or do a different type of leaf. I only have time for one more round of pressing before the project is due!Thanks :)
- Ficus plants are always a problem when pressing. The main reason is that they have latex in their tissues and many of them have relatively thick leaves. Not only do they turn brown (or even black) but the leaves usually drop off the stems. There are a few ways to make good Ficus specimens but the ones I've heard of require alcohol (enough to dip the plants in) and you'd need to be able to apply dry heat to your press for a few days at least. So, if you don't HAVE to have a Ficus, use something else (weed from your lawn would be easiest).

- I am assuming you are having a consultation with them because they might be publishing a book of yours. Overall, small presses can do really great things. Some *can* and *do* sell books on a national level, but this has to more to do with their distributor than anything else. You should definately ask them if they distribute to the large book chains like Barnes Noble, Borders, etc. They can do most things that large presses can do, as long as it doesn't involve a lot of money. Often writers get more personal attention from small presses in terms of public relations, whereas a large publisher like Random House tends to leave new, small novels to fend for themselves. I can't really tell you any more about what you need to know, because I'm not sure what you need it *for*. Good luck with your meeting.

- you can't You increase benching by benching... Though if you do pushups with lots of weights on your back that could help but thats not a bodyweight exercise. sorry

- Q: The 'Up' Button on my monitor presses on its own and holds and that maxes my contrast, i have locked the buttons but its still auto pressing, and i know this because a message 'Buttons locked' pops up, any idea on how to fix this?
- well it sounds like the switch under the button is going bad. you can break it so it can;'t be pressed ever again or you can take the plastic cap off the button so only the metal contact will show. this might solve you problem.

- Arbor presses come in all different sizes and ratings. They are rated at different forces measured in TONS. You can use an Arbor press to (typically used for metal fabrication): Assemble Flatten Cut Mark Straighten Broach Punch Stake Pierce Bend I'm sure that there are other uses that you could find for them but these are the most common. - i would say straight bar for military press(Standing). i do a sitting military press or shoulder press with dumbbells.

- Use a smaller frying pan as a press in a larger one. Then grill it in a greased pan. Almost as if you were nesting the pans together. It works best if the small frying pan is hot as well, as you can do it in one quick process, without having to flip anything. You do have to deal with a hot pan though, so oven mitt time. Cast iron pans of course. I use the lid of my dutch oven in a big skillet.
