Q:So on my ceiling fan I have a white, black, green, and blue wire. In the ceiling I have a green, white, black, red, and bronze wire. What gets connected to what? Thanks for the help!
Redneck Texan is an idiot. Bronze does not go to blue. I think he is color blind and thinks the green in the picture is blue. Pat F85 is correct. The black on th fan is the blades and the blue on the fan is the lights. Black and red in ceiling can go to either blue or black on fan. Typically it would be black to black aNd red to blue.

Imagine two closely spaced parallel wires. If you run a current through one, it creates a magnetic field that induces current into the second wire, which causes an even stronger magnetic field. Now if you run the same current through both wires, they both create magnetic fields that affect each other. Any two loops in the wire are just like two parallel wires with the same current, both creating magnetic fields that affect each other. So a loop is like a bunch of parallel wires affecting each other.
Q:Im cleaning up some of the wires in the engine bay and getting rid of ones i dont use. Right now theresthe pos side bat post runs down to the starter. From the starter there is a thicker wire and a skinny wire. In the thicker wire there is a wire that goes to the post on alternator. Yeah I hate to say it but moving the battery to the trunk is a bad idea. Especially if you don't know what all the wires are there for. Some are grounds others are hot. You switch them you will burn something up.

You can use the Biot-Savart Law, but it is confusing and kind of a waste of your time and space. For straight wires, someone ALREADY worked out the Biot-Savart Law. The formula of interest for us is B = mu0*I/(2*Pi*r) where mu0 is magnetic permeability of free space, I is current, and r is distance from the wire carrying the current. B is the magnetic field due to that PARTICULAR wire. To deal with three wires, use a superposition principle and stack magnetic fields on top of each other. Do be aware of direction: remember the right hand rule. RH rule for magnetic fields in vicinity of wires: point thumb in direction of current, curl fingers to show the magnetic field circulation direction. Q:I need help hooking a remote wire to my jvc kd-g220.
The KD-G220 has only a blue/white remote output, and no true power antenna wire. If you have a power antenna, then you'll want to connect both the antenna wire from the harness and the amp's remote wire to the blue/white wire from the head unit. You don't really need any kind of adapter; just crimp or solder all three wires together. The head unit should be able to activate the amplifier and the power antenna from the same output without a problem. Electhrolite, I'm not sure how old the head units are that you've worked with, but any modern head unit's remote output is designed specifically to maintain the remote voltage for as long as the head unit is switched on. Keep in mind that the current draw on most amplifiers' remote terminal is less than .05 amps. There's no need to connect to an accessory power wire instead.

Q:I have an old house and am replacing a dimmer switch in the kitchen.The old switch is has only 2 wires coming out of the switch that are both black. From the wall 2 wires connect to the 2 black wires on the switch, one is black which I have concluded is hot and the other is red, which must be the common wire. My question is that there is a 3rd wired that is pushed into the electrical box that is capped and not being used. This wire is white. I can only assume that would be a ground wire, but why would it be white in color. Can you tell me what the coloring scheme was for wiring old houses? Now I can connect the switch and use only the black and red wire, but would like to ground it properly if possible.
Since this is an old house I would not assume anything, I may hook up a new switch wire per wire, but unless I opened the light fixture and confirmed the connection I would not connect any unconnected wire. That being said, since you have two colored wires then the white should only be used as a neutral. The hot and switch leg back to the light should be black and red, but which is which is anybodies guess. A ground wire is probably not present in the j-box you are dealing with, it was not required for many years, and probably do not have any grounded connection point in the light j-box either. You would just be connecting the boxes together if you used this spare wire, but not actually grounding anything, and could create a larger hazard by doing so.

I wouldn't try it. The gray, white, and black wires are the high voltage strobe wires. The control module changes the patterns before the voltage is increased. There is nothing you can do here.
Q:I have a carrier thermostat with red, green, yellow, white and blue wires. Bought a new honeywell, omly has red, green, yellow and white terminals. What do I do with the blue wire. Right now it is connected to rc with no jumper, but nothing works.
This is an educated guess, even though we don't know how the furnace is wired. In many cases, the blue wire is used for C (common). Tape off or snip off the end of the blue wire and don't use it. Put the red wire on the RC terminal. Jump RC to R or RH if you have heat. Connect the other wires to their corresponding terminals. If blue is common, there's a good chance you blew the fuse on the control board (if your air handler has one) and/or you fried the transformer. That is, if you tried turning on the A/C.

if you have an rca tv which works with 12 volts.......if the wires not connected to battery...there no problem. if connected to battery....the fuse blows.(close to battery on wire)....if there is no fuse....wires burn...risk of fire....do not forget...every device works with car battery MUST and MUST be eouipped fuse .
