Q:I am redoing a room in my basement, and I discovered that the previous owners glued down almost every inch of the carpet. The plan right now is to replace that carpet with new carpet. We tried scrapping and pulling the carpet up...but the process is almost too slow to be worth it. Does anyone have any tips or any suggestions on how to get around this? We are open to doing a different kind of flooring as well.
Start in a corner by grabbing the carpet with the pliers. Gently pull back slowly, as to not tear through the carpet. Once the old carpeting is completely pulled out; set it aside for later. Use the scraper to remove the remaining dry carpet glue from the floor. Removing the glue is pretty simple, but there is a way to do the job right. There are many industrial solvents made specifically for this purpose. These products can be purchased at you local hardware store. These products are chemicals that contains solvents to dissolve the glue...read the directions on all chemical bottles prior to use.
Q:I have to clean a carpet that has a red cool aid stain on it? Since it is not my carpet, I have no idea how long the stain has set into the carpet. I am willing to try just about anything short of a beach based cleaner? The carpet is an off white, so it's extremely noticable. Any suggestions, or is this a hopeless case?
I like the oxygen activated cleaners also, but I'd follow up with a steam cleaner.
Q:We have a nice rug that moves around alot on the hardwood floors and I want to know what the stuff is called to keep it from moving. I can't for the life of me remember and its driving me crazy. Any help is great. THANKS!
a rug pad. If you mean those white, rubberish things that are a couple inches smaller than the rug and that at he rug sits on.
Q:without using a carpet cleaner
Here is a site that I would highly recommend. They have very high quality stain removal techniques. I would suggest repeating the process after the first application, and rinsing the rug out with cool water in between applications. Best of luck!
Q:how do I crochet an oval rug for my bathroom?
Try okorder web site. There you will find tons of ideas and how 2's! Have fun!
Q:Just moved. Livingroom has off white walls solid wood flooring which is a golden oak color. Am buying olive off white livingroom furniture, but need to know what colors would go well for a large rug? The curtains are also green, but more pale. I'm not picky about the style rug; can be contemporary to Oriental, as long as the colors look good.
I would go for a shag pile, string coloured rug.
Q:I have a medium blue area rug currently and i want to dye it to be a spring green color. Getting a professional or getting a new carpet is pretty much out of the question. I've heard that you could bleach it first then dye it? Whats the best way for me to go about this?

Q:We are getting new carpet in our house. What is the best kind of carpet that is good quality and warrenty wise. And also what colors are the best too use for a BIG living area. Thanks
A carpet of great quality that will last forever is a fat, heavy, patterned berber. Nearly everyone thinks it is hideous, your carpet installer will hate you, and it's not very soft. The best looking high wear carpet I have seen or installed is a frieze. It's also called California berber, California shag, or short shag. It has a tall, but loose pile and is very soft, especially if you put a heavy odo-ban pad underneath. I've noticed that salt and pepper or similar light/dark patterns look best in large areas. Also, frieze hides seams well, which is good if you have a large room.
Q:We have rugs in our house that cover a large area because we have wooden floors. We have had them for a few years and there is a lot of dust that is sand colored that doesn't go away easily even with vacuuming. My mom thinks its just backing from the rug and it's normal. Were planning to get rid of them soon but is this dust/sand stuff really harmful to breathe in? It's been there for years but we don't move them around or anything.
If the dust is not in the air it should be alright.
Q:ive been looking online but i have no idea what size to get him.. he is a pacer or a trotter, standard bred// i think 19hands..all the rugs ive found online say 5.9 6.0 etc.. how do i know what.what my horse is?
haha 19hh is absolutely huge!!!!! as for 5'9 6'0 etc, that just means the length of the rug in feet and inches e.g 5 foot 9 inches. This measurement is taken from the front corner of the rug to the back corner. My horse is 15.2hh and I put him in a 6 foot rug, if thats any help. You need to find out the correct size of your horse to get the right sized rug. To measure him, just measure from the ground to the top of his withers (the nobbly part at the base of his neck) There's 4 inches to every hand. Use this formula to determine his height in hands: height in inches divided by 4 Hope this helps
