- Q: I recently blacked out and fell onto the floor face first, causing some moderate rug burns. I'm wondering if I should be concerned about scarring, and if so what I should do to prevent it. I've been keeping a coat of neosporin on it constantly so far.
- Regarding the rug burn, it does not look like a very deep wound from the picture. Most scrapes are shallow but painful because a large area of skin is missing. Shallow wounds do not usually scar. My brother went headfirst over the handlebars of his bike about 6 weeks ago and had some really nasty scrapes, some of which were moderately deep, and he didn't scar at all. Just keep it clean, wash it daily with soap and warm water. Keep using the neosporin as well. That will prevent infection and keep it moisturized; both of those things will help speed up healing, and the faster things heal the less likely they are to scar. Once it's all healed there will be some residual redness in the area for probably 3-7 days, but that isn't scarring and it should go away. Regarding you passing out, I would advise a doctor's visit. Getting light headed when standing is called orthostatic hypotension and it has a number of possible causes; some of them are fairly serious, such as a heart problem. Your orthostatic hypotension, plus now an unrelated episode of fainting indicates some sort of underlying problem. Better to go and get checked, just to be safe.
- Q: I have a white fluffy rug, I assume its meant to represent sheepskin. I have no idea how to clean it! Know what Im talking about? Does anyone have any ideas?

I need need this carpet cleaner to specifically clean my dogs pee stains. If you don't know about this carpet cleaner any other suggestions on another carpet cleaner?

- Q: a lot of people have walked on my carpet and i was wondering if anybody knew how to make it look new?PLEASE HELPPPPP!:]
- Wal-Mart and Sears both rent out rug doctors (steam cleaners for carpets). Some Ace Hardware stores do this also. Wal-Mart would probably be the cheapest and if you've never used one before they can give you step by step directions. It will cost you about $30 - $40 for one day (depending on where you rent it from) plus the cost of the cleaner that you have to mix in with the hot water (usually about $20 for the big bottle and cheaper for a medium or small bottle). Go to the service desk at Wal-Mart and ask to rent a rug doctor. If your carpet is berber it will help but it won't make it look new if it is really dirty. Otherwise this should do the trick. The key, when you are cleaning the carpets, is to go VERY SLOW. You might want to go over high traffic areas twice. I clean my carpets once a month and this keeps them looking new!
- Q: I dropped some candle wax on the carpet... How do I get it out?
- Use an iron and a lot of cleans cotton or linen rags (nothing pilly or plushy, like towels). Pour a bit of boiling hot water on the spot and pick and scrub at it to get out what you can, and scrape at it with a butter knife is it's really on there thick. Then, use the iron for a FEW SECONDS over another clean rag to help suck up the crumbs and bits that you dislodged by picking and scraping. Repeat as necessary. And be rough about it! A few lost fibers of carpet aren't going to mar the look of the carpet as much as the stain will. Carpets are built tough. They can take the scraping and scrubbing and picking. Now, if the candles are heavily colored like red or black, that's another story. Follow up the removal of the wax with a steam cleaning of the carpet, with a heavy dose of Resolve carpet cleaner (and some Clorox Clean-up spray with Bleach if the carpet is light enough, but only DIRECTLY on the discoloration.)
- Q: I am in soo much trouble, i am baby sitting at a brand new house. The child im taking care of wet the carpet so i used a hair dryer to dry it out. I found out the carpet was synthetic and it melted, there is a huge melt stain, plz help me, how can i fix it, i will die!!!
- WHAT?? Are you sure that was a hair dryer and not a freekin' HEAT GUN? I've never heard of a hair dryer that was hot enough to melt the typical polymers used in carpeting. In any case, you tried to fix a problem and for some strange reason it didn't work - if I were the owner, I might be upset, but if you really used just a conventional hair dryer, and it indeed melted the carpet, I think I would be more upset with the carpet company. After all, you were trying to do the right thing. Now, if you're lucky, the homeowner will have some spare carpeting that they've saved away for exactly this kind of accident. An experienced carpet layer can surgically replace that using any one of two or three techniques. They can even do this if the homeowner doesn't have some spare carpeting, although that will add some additional cost, and the match may not be quite as good (depends on the color and style, which if the house is new, will hopefully still be available).
- Q: I am re carpeting my attic, is installing a new carpet pad and carpet hard? what about installing carpet on stairs?
- I agree with dusty, Carpet installation does require experience and lots of expensive tools, I would definitely have a pro do it, carpet installation is one of the cheapest flooring labor charges out there. Good Luck!
- Q: What kind of good pressing strip carpet and marble interface
- If you install the bar, it is generally metal, not aluminum alloy is copper, but obviously this approach is not good. The carpet is usually based on the thickness of the marble and the carpeting in the location of the ground height difference, for example, if the thickness of the carpet carpet is 15mm, the location of the ground, the marble surface height difference, generally about 10mm, looks carpet is taller than marble, but when the foot feeling is basically "flat" - the beauty of this approach does not require the use of layering. Of course, some carpets don't have that long hair, so it's up to them to determine the difference between them.
- Q: so in my room i have a carpet which my mother told me that when our apartment was built they sticked the carpet with a special glue... under the carpet there are tiles..... but the glue is stuck to the tiles and i pulled the carpet to see whats happening under it because i really want to remove it because its unhealthy.... and i poored hot water and chlorine on and i took a knife to scratch it and the tiles wallpaper (however the call that thing) disappears and all i see its something black... what is that and what can i do now???? i already ripped a lot my carpet... any suggestions? what is that black thing??? is it the cement of the tiles?
- First you do not need to put chlorine in with the water. The black paper ( is that what it looks like?) could just be something that was used to even out the floor's surface. Forget the knives and scratching! Adhesives ( glues) are sometimes soluble with water.. Sometimes with heat - you heat the glue moderately with perhaps a steam iron or a hair dryer, the glue will loosen enough to pry back the carpet. Otherwise- and this is totally out of range of my experience- solvents are sometimes used. I would not recommend using any kind of flammable solvent. Instead of knives find a wide putty knife to help lift the carpet off the tiles, this will get a larger area up off the tiles and will not scrape or gouge the tiles nor is it likely to slip and cut you. And you can get one for a few dollars. Work a little at a time- maybe it will take you a day or two- and wear safety glasses when you pull up the carpet because it is easy to get a small carpet fiber into your eye and it is a pain to get it out!
- Q: I bought two new rugs and one of my cats has already peed on one of them. I spanker her and told her no and rubbed her nose in it. Is this a good way to train her or can I do something else? This cat destryed a previous rug by peeing on it.
- First of all ... does the cat / kitten already have a litter box? If so ... then you should take a hint ... maybe the kitten is passing judgement on your taste in rugs! LOL !!! Anyway...spray with white vinegar, eliminates any prior odor , as well as deterring the cat /dog from going potty there anymore. If you catch the kitty in the act, gently pick him/her up and take him/her to his/her litter box and gently put him/her there. EVERY TIME YOU CATCH him/her. The repetition will there in create a pavlov's dog effect. Vinegar is the best way to deter the cat from *going* on the rug.
