- Q:How to maintain composite wood floor
- Maintenance measures:1, the room humidity should not be too large, to keep the floor dry, clean and clean, the daily use of clean mop mop mop can be. In case of stubborn stains, the use of neutral cleaning solvents should be cleaned and then wring dry cotton mop wipe, do not use acid, alkaline detergent scrub.
- Q:We are re doing our kitchen and living room floor and we would like to do wood flooring. We have a concrete slab so from what I have read we can't go with solid which was what we wanted but a few people have said engineered would be fine just wanted more opinions from any one who has done it or know more about it
- know dont think i have lol tc
- Q:100 year old house has uneven hardwood floors on second floor. Initially I wanted to sand and refinish these, but they are not in good shape and are squeaking. Then I decided to put brand new hardwood or engineered (my favorite) wood on top of it, hoping to obtain a better look and less squeaking and noise downstairs (with the help of a foam underlayment). I am afraid that because the floors are uneven, the new engineered wood will not stay in place correctly. I wanted to level the floors, but the self-leveling cement would add too much weight on this old house. Is there a light, foam-like self leveling compound? Also, what's the way to lay the engineered wood in this situation, glue it or lay it floating? If glueing it, what about the underlayment? Do I have to glue that layer first and the glue the engineered wood on it?
- Before you do anything, I would fix the squeaking because this won't go away. Check out This Old House website...they have a lot of good tips.
- Q:How do I remove a glued down engineered wood floor on a slab foundation?
- hammer drill or jack hammer with a flat end. grind the glue off with a Diamond bit floor sander
- Q:Good evening. I'm currently having a contractor install engineered hardwood on my steps. I have 3 planks that are 3/8 think. He is in the middle of construction now.
- I would have the installer remove the rabbit edge and shim up the flooring to the nosing, so they are at the same height. Serious problem for kids, toddlers and high heel shoes. Plus it's very uncomfortable to walk up and down the stairs on an uneven surface. Carrying anything heavy up and down these treads can become a major problem, also. How wide are these treads? Stair nosing is probably about 3 inch wide, which leaves you about 7-8 inch of surface to get your foot on. Factor in the overhang and you really only have about 5-6 inch of foot space, clearance. Unless you have small feet, I wouldn't install this type of set-up on stairs. Landings are exceptable, because it has a bigger surface, following the nosing. The trip can either be caused by the uneven surface or the overhang. Why not just install prefinished solid treads? Just some food for thoughts.
- Q:We bought a house with engineered oak hardwood floors that look to be 3mm thick. We're trying to determine if we can refinish them or if we just need to replace them, but we're not sure how to tell if they have am aluminum oxide finish. Is there a way to tell without knowing the manufacturer or any other related info?
- Not so much, no. There's no test that you can do at home that can tell you if these engineered floors have an aluminum oxide finish or another type of modern finish. But unfortunately, chances are it's AO. Most engineered floors, especially those that aren't super expensive (so floors bought through THD and etc.) are AO.
- Q:my flooring is hollow underneath in some areas, how can I have this taken care of?
- If your positive that it hollow between the wood and the sub floor you can either go from below carefully drill holes in the sub floor but not through the engineered wood. Fill with construction adhesive and plug the hole up . Have something already to seal it from flowing back out of the hole. The other way , if you absoluetly cannot get to it from below is use a hole saw and save the plug and do it from above. This is a last resort way to do it since you will see the plug that you use from the hole saw. If you suspect its a small hollow spot there are needles you can inject some hardening agents. But a small hole must be used and you ll have to fill and stain it if you work from the top. These can be seen some times. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar... GL
- Q:How can i say that hardwood and engineered wood floors are really different with each other?
- Hardwood is solid through and through. Engineered wood just has a top layer that is real wood.
- Q:We are looking to put in about 600 sq of engineered hardwood floors in our house. What are some of the better brands out there. We heard Johnson hardwood is pretty good. Any thoughts?
- Bruce, Mohawk, Shaw, Bella Woods and Armstrong to name a few to get you started. Now remember each one ( and all ) of these will have a low end and a high end so shop apples to apples. As far as Johnson hard wood, I haven t heard either way with that particular one. GL
- Q:The solid wood floor in the floor, gold plate, solid wood composite floor of the difference between the three and characteristics'cause I'm gonna mess this upThank you can help
- Real wood floor is natural wood, green Jiankang, wood flooring is the wood slice pressing, not afraid of water environmental protection, gold plate heard
