- Q: Home decoration, like wood flooring and go in a circle, pure wood price is beyond my budget, strengthen the floor style, the price close to the people, good care, between the solid wood composite, the price is not cheap, but I can barely accept, after all, environmental protection in this area, really solid wood composite laminate flooring than good? I have read a statement on the Internet, but also a solid wood composite adhesive layer is not sticky, reinforced composite, the price is not very close to the people, I am very tangled ~ please knowledgeable friends advice, thank you! ~
- 2 laminate flooringThe reinforced composite floor is composed of wear-resistant layer, decorative layer, base layer and balance layer. Has the advantages of wear: approximately above the ordinary lacquer floor 10 ~ 30 times; computer simulation can be pretty: all kinds of wood and pattern, color; stability: completely broken up the original wood tissue, destroy the shrinkage characteristics of anisotropic and moisture expansion and drying, the size is very stable, especially suitable for floor heating room system.AdvantageAbrasion resistance: about 10 to more than 30 times that of ordinary paint floor.Beautiful: can be used to simulate a variety of computer wood and patterns, colors.Stability: completely broken up the original wood tissue, destroy the anisotropy and wet expansion drying shrinkage characteristics, the size is very stable, especially for the heating system of the room.In addition, there are impact resistance, anti-static, anti pollution, light resistance, resistance to cigarette burning, easy installation, easy maintenance, etc..shortcomingBlisters after damage not repair, Juegan poor.In particular, it is pointed out that in the past there have been dealers that laminate flooring is a waterproof floor, which is only for the surface, in fact, to strengthen the use of composite floor only to avoid the blisters.
- Q: What is the preferred method of installing an engineered wood floor over a concrete slab? Float or glue & why?
- If you don't want glue(Chemicals, formaldehyde)in the house you can use a rubber membrane on top of the concrete beneath the wood. It will give you a more solid floor than just floating it.Home depot has a product its a green roll membrane.
- Q: I would like to remove my carpet and get a nice tough wood flooring.
- If you install engineered hardwood the species of wood you use will make no difference as to its durability. Engineered is always prefinished and it is the durability of the finish, and the type of installation method that you need to be concerned with. Engineered hardwood can be nailed or stapled, glued to the subfloor, glued together and floated, or simply locked together and floated with no fasteners or glue at all. Of these methods it is best to always fasten the floor down. Nail, staple, or glue the boards to the floor and you will have a much more solid feel, and the boards will be much less likely to separate. Of the floors I have seen the best looking and toughest is Br-111 exotic hardwood. It is not outrageously expensive. Armstrong also makes some good hardwood, but steer clear of some of their products such as Bruce LocknFold or other floating hardwoods.
- Q: How to identify the solid plate is a plate
- Distinguish by the following methods:Choose the color and grain, a lot of people think that the wood is as hard as possible, in fact, hard wood, although it has better wear resistance, but relatively poor dimensional stability, the wood floor size selection, try to choose a narrow and short, although the effect is not as good as the laying of short and wide floor appearance, but from the wood the characteristics, size is smaller, its deformation is small.
- Q: I have a new engineered floating wood floor. A brass lamp fell and left a quarter to half inch deep gash in the floor. Is there a way to repair it without replacing the foor? The wood is oak.
- From my experience I would try and see if you could get a matching wood puddy, to fill the gash. If you have a piece of scrap left over from when the floor was installed, you can take it to your local hardware store and get a wood puddy that will match it. Ive used this before and only I can tell that the damage is there, to others, they can't see it.
- Q: Can anyone give me some advice on placing a wood floor in my living room, hallway and stairway? I was wondering what tools will I need and how can I approximate the cost with 340 estimated sq. ft. with the floor costing 3.75 a square foot. What should I add for waste?
- Here's a few links for you to consider:
- Q: I'd like to lay engineered wooden flooring in my 3rd floor flat. Lifted up old laminate flooring and concrete floor is not even / flat (up to 7mm difference in parts) - there is a bulge running through centre of floor. Area is around 40sq in total. Thinking of using plyboard to raise rest of room up to bulge level and perhaps self leveling in the centre to even out. Any thoughts please? Thanks
- Won't it be a bit of a nightmare to true it up with plywood? Sounds like a lot of shimming and screwing around to get it to work. The self-leveling sounds good...but make sure you know how to work with it first, or having someone experience do it for you.
- Q: Choice of solid wood flooring to pay attention to what, after the completion of the road to pay attention to how to maintain
- The ground cement layer to ensure adequate drying degree, moisture content of less than 8% to ensure re laying of the keel, so to avoid pavement moisture, if the wood keel, brush paint and paint the insect fire in a low floor or in the year
- Q: We purchased an engineered wood floor and installation. The floor clics/snaps together and is specifically designed to be floated. After noticing a sticky/cruchy sound when walking on several areas and reading the manufacturer's literature closer, we realized the floor is stapled down and has no expansion gaps on the sides. The crunchy/sticky sound appears to be the floor being pushed down onto the tar paper when placing our body weight on our foot and when we lift the foot (i.e., placing our body weight on the other foot) the floor sounds like its raising up and the crunchy sticky sound we are hearing is the tar paper. The installers fixed the cunchy/sticky sound on one end by pulling the floor up and glueng it down. That part of the floor now feels and sounds fine but the cruchy/sticky sound has now moved to the area adjacent to the side that is glued down. Should I be worried about future problems such as buckling? Why or why not.
- call a company rep. way to much info required to qualify an answer.
- Q: I want to replace the carpet in my hallway.
- This is a matter of preference and the type of traffic you have in your hall way. Personally I would go for solid wood, but some of the engineered wood works fine, just not as easy to refinish if it becomes scared or worn from foot traffic.
