Q: i have a huge braided wool rug and was wondering if i could use a bissel home carpet shampooer on it. if not, how can i give it an all over cleaning? i cant afford to take it anywhere professional: If you have a handmade or antique rug, save your pennies and take it to a cleaner that specializes in oriental rugs. If you're in a large metropolitan area, price several places. Whatever else you do, don't use a carpet shampooer on it. If it is really dirty, and you have access to a unit that doesn't use any kind of bristle brush - just water and suction (set to low) then try that using distilled water alone (essentially you'll be rinsing the rug, but that will lift a fair amount of dirt). Since the rug is wool, use cool water, since you don't want it to shrink.

Q: how or what can i use to get the sticky residue off carpet ? previous owners put vinyl tile over carpet which was stupid does anyone know what i can use to get the sticky residue off carpet?? i have goo gone not sure if it would work does anyone know what would work.. that wouldnt take alot to get it off carpet.. seems to be those self adhesive tiles that are on top of carpet.. i'm lifting tiles off but the residue is on carpet making you stick kinda to carpet.. Q: ive got 2 rugs in my kitchen i need to wash but they have a rubber back and im worried if i put them in the washier the rubber will wear off. last time i washed my fathers rugs for him the rubber started to come off in small chunks (it was also the first time they had ever been washed) and i dont want the same to happen to mine. im not worried about drying them id just lay them outside on the porch rail and let them air dry. does anyone have any suggestions? if i hand wash them will they get just as clean as if they were washed in the washer?: You can wash them forever in the washing machine as long as you do NOT use bleach, and do NOT put them in the dryer.
