- Q: Our water pump had a leak in one of the pipes which kept making us Los the prime. I've replace the piping so it no longer leaking but I can't get I to work. The pump runs but the water doesn't move-. The pressure says it is at 50 but nothing. Also its a sahllow well pump jut bought last sprig.Any ideas? Sorry for the bad grammar new to this tablet.

- The driveshaft is always turning. A pinion gear at the bottom of the driveshaft spins the forward and reverse gears, which are freewheeling (in opposite directions) on the prop shaft. The clutch dog is splined and/or pinned to the propshaft, and moved forward (to mesh with the forward gear) or aft (to mesh with the reverse gear) by the clutch dog cradle, which is moved by the up or down motion of the shift rod. The backside of the forward reverse gears are machined with square corners that mesh with the clutch dog. So, the engine turns the driveshaft, the driveshaft turns the gears, the gears turn the clutchdog, and the dog turns the propshaft. Meanwhile, as mentioned, the drive shaft, which is always spinning, is also the water pump shaft. The water pump has a neoprene impeller in a chromed housing; a very tight fit -- the vanes have to be bent over to fit. The center of the housing is offset from the shaft, so the compartments where water is drawn in get smaller as they rotate toward the discharge, which provides enough water pressure to force water through the engine even at idle speed. The impeller is fit so tightly into the housing, that it will generate enough heat to melt and break up without a source of water -- it only takes about 30 seconds of dry running to seriously damage the impeller. to fix the gears, you have to use a gear puller to pull the propshaft bearing carrier. The reverse gear will fall out. Reach in with a long box-end wrench to remove the pinion gear from the driveshaft, and pull the driveshaft bearing housing out with the driveshaft. When you remove the shift rod, the prop shaft, forward gear, clutch dog etc should be accessible. There's a lot of complicated steps to accomplish each of the above, and some critical measurements with near-zero tolerance. Don't do it without a factory service manual in hand.

- your car was almost out of water t overheated and blew a hose. You need to find out what is leaking the coolant out and fix it. You did not mention the year make or model so there is little we can advise. Many cars have a weep hole on the botton of the water pump and when the seal breaks this is usually because the bearing in the water pump is worn. Put in a new pump and inspect all heater hoses and radiator hoses replace the thermostat and then add coolant. Be sure to open the heater core so no air bubbles block the system.. leave the radiator cap off and let the car warm up good so the thermostat opens and coolant starts to curculate rev the enging slowly several times to work out any air fill the system (replace radiator cap with a new one too) put new cap on and drive around for about ten minutes and park the car. Let it cool so that any coolant needed gets sucked in through the pressure cap. Refill overflow bottle as necessary.
- Q: I just bought a house a little more then a month ago and just received my first electric bill and it's OUTRAGEOUS!! - OK, well your question is a bit confusing and I am not sure if it is because you don't understand how your system works. Your hartell pump pumps water. It does not produce heat. Your water heater heats water. It is a backup to your solar panel system. If on the other hand you have a heat pump as a back up source of heat this could be an entirely different matter and you are best at providing a model number which should be stamped on the part. We need to start again. Is your system for solar hot water or for general heating? Is it a system in a cold climate where freezing is an issue. Is it a pump down system or a system that circulates antifreeze in the solar loop. The reason all this is significant is that if you are paying a lot in electricity then something is not working. The first question has to be is it a design problem, a mechanical problem or an operational problem. You may need more hot water storage or more solar panels, you may need to replace parts, or you may simply need to turn the right valves (This would be the case where you have a grounding loop to keep the solar panels from overheating in the summer.)
- Q: I've bleed the lines, and gotten rid of all the air bubbles. I've replaced the thermostat correctly, (triple checked) and I don't think it's the water pump because it isn't leaking what so ever. My temperature gauge is not moving what so ever, and the coolant reservoir over flows heavily, and I can hear a thumping sound in the radiator.
