Q: I've lost the power cable (and other regular connection cables) for my Dell computer but have some from another computer (but don't know the make of them). This might be a stupid question but..can I use these for my Dell computer or do they need to be Dell cables?: Copper wire will conduct electricity, the rest is plastic. If they fit, use them.

Q: I need a low profile extention to the exsiting power cable so it can run along the skirting to the mains socket.I was thinking of joining flex wire to the existing cable, wrapping the 3 cores with heatshrink, and then wrapping the whole thing with white insulation tape. the guy from maplin told me I could do this but then I''ve heard that this is a bad idea (and probably against UK safety regulations).: Assuming the current cord is rated properly, if you extend it, you will need to make the extension one size larger to avoid voltage drop, and overheating of the wire. Doing what you suggest is likely to produce a stiff section that is awkward to handle. I prefer to have a plugin connection so if someone trips over it or pulls a chair with the leg behind it, it will unplug instead of dragging the heater.

Q: I have had my ASUS laptop for just over 2 months, and I've realised the power cable whilst being securely in, and charging without a problem, feels slightly loose when wobbled. I know this isn't a problem at the moment, but is this right, should it feel slightly loose? They will fix it for you, for a reasonable price. My computer started off like that, then it started refusing its charger, and still does now. When we got it seen to, the fixing chap tried his charger on it, and it worked fine so we now need to buy a new one, but they are pretty expensive things. It may not end up like that for you, but whatever it could lead to, I wouuld get it seen to, because believe me, it stops accepting its charger, hibernates on you- then bang and the work is gone! :-(( Good Luck!

An older Elite 360's power cable (with the older set) will fit into a new one, but not the other way around. It sounds like the one you just bought is older than the one that was banned.

Q: My Alienware Aurora Hard Drive SATA Data Cable is plugged in but not the SATA Power Cable.There are a lot of SATA Power Cables (And 3 of them are conveniently located in the hard drive slots; 1 per each slot, but I am just making sure before I do it) They all have numbers like P12 or P5 on them and I don;t know which one to use with my Alienware Aureroa aHard Drive (An uncustomiszed Alienware Aurora) and I just wanna make sure I use the right one so my computer does't explode: any sata power cable will do. it's only for feeding power into the drive. the sata data cable needs to be plugged in into the desired slot so the system can boot from that drive if it's used for booting.
