- Q: Just bought a second hand couch and loveseat...im pretty pissed now because I get it home and because I do not have a dog, now I can smell it. I tried everything...EVERYTHING...I heard vinegar works. Its a microfiber set, will it even soak in? Has this method worked for stubborn smells such as this for anyone? - Most folks don't realize it, but almost all manufacturers today the backs of all regular furniture quickly pop up and off, leaving a very small base, and separate backs to fit through doorways. So, I would go by any furniture store, armed with this knowledge, and ask them to show you a regular sized sofa that the backs can be removed from. My last purchase from La-z-boy and my newest leather sofa both came this way. the base (where you sit) easily fits through a 28 doorway.
