- If your putting it in just to sell it, why do you care if it lasts 10 years or not? Materials and labor for under 2000 may be a stretch, especially if you have a large area you want to carpet. If I were you, I would look into carpets that are not as expensive. The people who buy the house may not even like the carpet and rip it out and put hardward or a different color anyway, so lasting 10 years should not be a concern. That is a big part of your expense right there!
- Q: Water was spilled on his rug a few days ago and now the smell of skunk where the water was spilled is becoming overwhelming. Tried scrubbing it with soap but once it dried the smell came back. And there absolutely was no skunk in the house. No animals in the house either. Wondering if my daughter peed on that spot ( she pulls her diaper off sometimes). - It could be spilled milk...or some other decaying food item...those can really stink. I would try undiluted white vinegar. Pour it on the spot and let it soak in for a while (put a towel under the rug so it doesn't soak through to the floor beneath). Blot it up and allow to dry. Pour baking soda powder on it overnight and then vacuum. If that doesn't work and you have direct sun where you are located...sit the rug out in the sun for the day. Sometimes the UV light from the son will kill any bacteria if the stain is some food item decaying. If you get the smell to decrease but not go away entirely....febreeze it at the end.

- i always go for the professional cleaning. By the time I drive to the rental place and get the machine, do the cleaning, then drive to the store and back again, I've spent more than half a day to do an inferior cleaning job. The pros can do the same thing in the time it takes me to make one trip to the store and back. Especially true if the carpet is really dirty. If you get a service with a truck mounted machine, they have so much more suction that they can do a better job, and the carpets dry faster too.

- You can ck by going to JC Whitney online. Free catalog and they will even answer a ? by e-mail. The carpet will come molded to the shape of your cargo area so by taking off the plastic molding, marking them or laying them out on the driveway in the order taken out is not a very hard task. I have taken out and replaced headliners the same way but I would much rather do a cargo area. You'll do fine!
- Q: My carpet is only 4 1/2 years old and in good shape with no big stains. My only complaint is that it's too light. Someone suggested having my carpet dyed a darker color, but I've never heard of anyone doing that before. Has anyone had this done before or know anyone who has? If so, what are the pro's and con's? - Remove the carpet on the plant and animal oil, cotton can be used to clean gasoline dipped in high purity; fruit juice and beer stains, first with a soft cloth dipped in detergent solution to wipe, and then add a little vinegar water scrubbing solution; ironmould, in sewage sprinkle fine salt, reoccupy lukewarm soap scrub; if the trace is appropriate with milk soak for a moment, then brush can brush dipped in milk.

- You may need to have the rug treated by a pro cleaner. If you do look for a baneclean dealer who does rugs. If you want to try use a store rented steam cleaner use Woolite in place of the store steam chemicals. mix the Woolite per directions. Mix with warm water use a very soft brush and work the Woolite into the rug. Use the steam cleaner to rinse with plain warm water. One pass with the plain water , 3 passes with suction only to remove the water. Let dry for a day or more before use. There are chemical brighteners, try to avoid.
