- Q: I read somewhere that the company that once manufactured the popular Model XXX canister Electrolux vacuum cleaners (1930s-1950s) is now called Aerus--which makes 'Aerus' or 'Lux' machines. - Compressed air is best option. You can buy it on the internet very cheap, although buy more then one can at a time as they don't last very long. Just use it in a well ventilated area. Normal vacuum cleaners cause static, you can get special computer ones that don't. A bicycle pump isn't very powerful.

- For years, I always had Eureka. They are good, but 4 yrs ago, I bought an Oreck and I would not buy any other brand. It is lightweight, is great for allergens and it cleans well. I take it in for maintenance once a year. The first three or four years it is cost free for maintenance. I like the fact that it is self leveling when you go from hard surfaces to carpet. I recommend an Oreck. They may cost a bit more, (varies as to styles,) but to me they are well worth their price. I use my on tile, linoleum, parquet wood flooring, and carpet with ease and efficiency. I've never had my Oreck to kick out any dirt particles to the back of the vacuum as I have had with other uprights. I also have an Oreck cannister/with shoulder strap that is lightweight to use for cleaning upholstery, stairs, baseboards and ceiling fans etc.

- If you are serious, most work with a motor driven high velocity low volume air mover. Air is sucked through a collection reservoir of some sort, Air is admitted to the reservoir. Yes, they can make ones that are less likely to get clogged, but they must be larger, and have larger motors, reservoirs, and hoses, but those are less suitable for general purpose household or commercial cleaning due to the size of the machine and their power requirements. They are made big for industrial dust/debris collection in factories, and vacuum material collection trucks.
