- Q: I found an old Karavan flatbed utility trailer and am currently converting it into a snowmobile trailer (2 place). Me and a friend riped all the wire off of the trailer and completely rewired it. No matter how we configure it, the lights aren't coordinated. If we hit the left blinker in the car, all the lights flash(like the hazards are on). Right blinker works fine. we wired it first from the diagram on the karavan site. Now once we think about it, they have us wiring the ground into the light. so we searched the web and found this layout.
- The problem is the difference in 4 to 6 wire . Go to an auto parts store and get the converter . It wires into your car between the plug and the tail-lights .After that , no problem with older trailer wiring .
- Q: so i got a few questions. on my 2000 chevy cavalier i got my audio system upgraded but toke it to a shop to get done i am ready to hook up a amp and woof but wanna do it my self to save a few hundred bucks as i was observing my car where to put stuff at i notice a blue wire that is going from where it looks like from my radio to my fuse box on the driver side and is hooked up to a fuse. what is that? and if its the remote wire can i hook up the remote wire for the amp with that blue wire to or is that to much?
- The remote wire should be running from your amp, to your radio fuse. Just strip the wire and wrap it around the fuse and place it back in. That is the correct way to hook it up.
- Q: I moved into a home with pre-wired speakers. There is a bundle of speaker wire coming out of the wall. Each wire has 4 colors of other wire coming out of it. There are a total of 7 main wires (with four wires each) and a total of 9 speakers.
- 4 conductor wire has a few neat uses. 1 is to bi-wire your speakers. Meaning that if the speaker has 2 red and 2 black terminals then remove the bridge and run the cables to the posts separately thus increasing surface conduction and increasing output and sound quality. Also if you are running cables in the wall to 2 speakers that are near each other or to a single stereo speaker then you don't have to run 2 separate 2-conductor wires. This would also be true if you are running to a second zone using an in wall volume control. If this is the only wire you have for a standard speaker connection it won't hurt to twist them together at both end (pos with pos/ neg with neg) and serves the same purpose as using thicker cables.
- Q: You have a 3 foot wide wire, vs a .3 inch wire. They are equal length. There is 3 volts going through each wire, to power your 1 volt LED. So, would the 3 foot wide wire have less resistance ? I don't even think it would work.
- Because there are a lot more electrons available in that ridiculously large wire.
- Q: Quick question with hopefully an easy answer. I had a dimmer switch go bad on a light in a dining room. I bought a new switch and put it in. It was working fine, so I thought, then I noticed that when the dining room light is off, the dimmer works on everything else on the circuit, for example outside lights, hall lights, etc. I can dim all of those things when this switch certainly didn't do that before. Also, if the dining room light is on, all of the other things on the circuit I mentioned before do not work at all. I've obviously incorrectly wired the switch somehow, any thoughts on what I did incorrectly and how to fix?
- Not sure how to answer this. You only had to remove and reinstall 2 wires from the old to the new switch. You obviously disconnected more wires than needed and screwed it up. No way to tell you what you did wrong without actually being there and sorting out your mess. Sorry , now you need a pro, or you have to go thru it one by one until you find the original wire going to the light, then reconnect everything else the way it was. maybe getting an electrician or someone that knows what they are doing may prevent a wire fire in your walls as you obviously do not know enough about wiring to fix it yourself
- Q: When I am wiring my sub to my amp, what gauge of wire should I use? The sub is 750 rms and the amp is 700 rms. And how do I wire a 2 ohm sub DVC to a 2 ohm stable amp?
- The okorder /
- Q: The t-stat comes with EIT module. that wires to the t-stat and the furnace. I'm having trouble with the module to furnace wiring.
- from the thermostat you match 1,2,3 wires to the module, from the module to the furnace. - R to R (this is your 24V hot) W to W (furnace 24V input G to G (fan for cooling 24V input) Y to Y (cooling 24V input), there should also be another wire that connects with this that goes to the condensing unit C to C ( Common - must have this connected for IAQ to work) as with the Y, there should be another wire to connect to this that goes to the condensing unit. - maybe W2 to W2 if you have a 2 stage furnace, you'll know if you have a 2 stage furnace because the W2 connection on the furnace will be present. - maybe Y2, if you have 2-stage cooling. if you have a humidifier connect both wires from the humidifier selinoid valve to each of the HUM terminals.
- Q: I Have a 02 Dodge ram with the 5.9L engine and i purchased a O2 simulator because i wanted to remove the cats. what i need to know is which wire is the Signal, 12 volt, and the ground wire on the oxygen sensor. If anyone has any idea please share some info.
- The wires should be color coated. Usually if it is a 4 wire o2 there are two white wires and two black wires and the blacks are both grounds. Same should go with the 2 wire o2 the black is usually the ground and the wite is the 12v wire.
- Q: I think I have heard about flat cable wires?maybe even flat electrical wires.where you can hide them behind a base board.is this true?what are they called/thx
- flat co-ax cable would be an oxymoron, however there is flat twinlead. U need to know that twinlead is more likely to have interference problems though. electrical cable usually has 3 conductors so it is naturally kind of oval shaped people typically hide these behind baseboard or in the space below the baseboard if they have wall to wall
- Q: I no longer have enough 0 gauge wire would it be bad to use 0 gauge power wire to the amp and 4 gauge wire to ground the amp?
- Umm well it really depends on how much power you are running through it. If your amp is only about 200-400 watt rms, then you should be fine with a 4awg ground. However, if your rms is higher than 400 you seriously need to consider getting some bigger gauge wire.
