Q: I spilled Coca-cola on my area rug. The rug is relatively inexpensive and I've never spilled liquid on it. I decided it would be a brilliant idea to sop up as much liquid as I could with a towel and paper towels and then pour baking soda all over it, which I then proceeded to rub in. (I know, idiotic). The stain is now hard and crusty and I cant seem to vacuum it out. Any advice?
Not all is lost. Break up the crusties as much as possible and vacuum, probably just use the hose, not the various heads. Keep doing this until you'd removed as much as possible. If you have a clothes brush, use that to help as you vacuum. When you've done as much as you can, time to switch methods: first put a towel, shower curtain or whatever under your throw rug as you don't want to ruin the floor under neath.......if vinyl.......relax. Anyway. Make a solution of OxyClean.....I'd say a scoop to a quart of warm water.....mix well and then apply it to the stain.........if your carpet doesn't have latex on the back and you can move it to the tub.....pour the Oxyclean over the stain. Otherwise pour a bit on.......1/4 cup or so, rub with your fingers and immediately begin blotting it out with a clean towel......white or light colored just in case you get a color run from the towel. Repeat applying and blotting it up. That should do it. I doubt you'll need the whole quart. OH yes, finish with a clear water rinse and plenty of blotting. Check the towel or whatever underneath and replace it if wet. Let the rug air dry. No hair dryers as heat will set stains. Of course we hope like anything the OxyClean doesn't remove the color from your rug.....if you have bright colors.....use a weaker solution. OxyClean ihydrogenen peroxide which will bleach colors if in a very concentrated formula which it in the in the original mixture I mentioned.
Q: What carpet is suitable to be put in front of the company? is there any requirement about color, texture, pattern and thickness?
they are all depend on the nature and scope of the business. the color and size shold be chosen accroding to the color of the wall closing the door; as for texture, PVC is better, because there are many people go in and go out and it is easy to clean; the pattern and thickness are depend on the company's funds.
Q: hi!i just got a new carpet about 2 weeks ago.i have to vacuum every single day.little balls of the carpet like shed, and they are everywhere!is there anyway to stop this from happening?and will it stop eventually?thanks.
all new carpets do this, and you aren't supposed to vacuum them for 2 weeks
Q: I need a rug for my dorm. Its simple but I can't find it. Maybe it's too simple. Solid White Oval rug about 3X4 or so (rather than a huge rug). I don't want a bathroom mat either. Many websites advertise that they have lots of rugs but I can't find this simple one..... Any ideas? Thanks
Must okorder . Good luck.
Q: Im a single mum of three and a student so you can probably guess that i don't have alot of money!I went to a carpet store and they said that i could carpet a room using felt back carpet which the fitters can use glue to put down because felt back carpets don't require underlay.right now that seems to be my only option.i just wanted to know if anyone has a carpet that doesn't have any underlay and if is worth doing it??
I had carpet without underlay in my home. It lasted many years. It did not have the plush, sinking in feel of other carpets but it did the job. The only propblem I have had is in removal, as the backing has deteriorated with time and makes a lot of dust when removing. Also the glue has stuck to my wood flooring and is a pain to remove. Otherwise, no issues
Q: I am repainting and decorating my spare bedroom and have a question regarding carpet and area rugs. The room has honey stained pine hardwood floors which I want to keep. I dont really want to have carpet installed in the room, so here is what i'm thinking. How do you think it would look if I bout a piece of carpet alittle smaller than the size of the room and put that down? Like 3-5 inches of hardwood still exposed around the edges of the room. Would this look weird? I want just a plain colored light tan carpet with a thick nap or shag like. Any body have this or seen it done? Also should I do something to the edge of the carpet to keep it from unraveling? Thanks for any help
It okorder / .. Any high quality rug won't unravel as it will be reinforced at the edges. To keep the rug from curling at the edges on your floor, adhere it with carpet tape to the floor.
Q: What are the benefits of carpeting? What about people who hate carpets? What kind of carpet is suitable for what kind of room?
1. Thermal insulation and heat conduction can block the coolness from the ground in winter and maintain the comfort of indoor temperature. In summer, it can prevent hot air from pouring into the room and keep the room cool. 2. The carpet has the function of balancing the indoor temperature. In winter, the carpet can block the cool feeling from the ground and increase the warmth and comfort of the room; When the air conditioner is turned on in summer, the insulation and barrier function of the carpet will make it difficult for the low temperature in the room to flow out through the ground. 3. Easy to replace, just remove the old carpet and lay the newly purchased carpet. It's really convenient and fast, but the replacement of wooden floor is not so easy. 4. Shock absorption comfort stepping on the soft and elastic carpet will feel relaxed and comfortable, reduce fatigue, and avoid the tremor caused by frequent collision between hard ground and sole. 5. Clean and dustproof because the carpet surface of the carpet is a dense pile structure, the dust falling from the air is absorbed by the carpet pile, which prevents the dust from escaping, relatively reduces the dust content in the air and keeps the indoor air clean.
Q: Okay, I have to do chores and I completely forgot what is a rug! I am a dumb blond..
A rug is a shape of cut-out carpet with a backing that can be lifted up to vacuum beneath it or to hide stuff under it. A carpet covers the expanse of a room or house and is quite stuck to the floor because it is the floor. If you can lift it up to hide stuff under it then you ruined your carpet. You can have a rug on top of carpet.
Q: I have a rug that my sister gave me as a gift. The colors are perfect for my home and it's the perfect size for where I need it. But there's a problem - it's in a high traffic area (landing on the stairs) and it won't stay put. It creases in the center and gets pushed up against the wall as the traffic goes by - causes safety hazard because now we're tripping all over it, and i'm getting so tired of bending down to straighten it. I know it probably wasn't an expensive rug, but I would hate to throw it out. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get it to stay on the carpet? I was thinking about gluing some thing on the bottom corners to weight it down.... maybe that's a crazy idea. I was also thinking maybe there's a way to attach it to the carpet, like a safety pin.... probably crazy too because then i'd just end up with holes in my carpet. Maybe someone more creative has an idea or knows of a cost effecient product that could help me.
There are special mats you can buy at Lowes, Home Depot, Linens n Things.....just about anywhere that you place under the rug to hold it in place. There are two types. One is for use on carpet and the other for hard floor surfaces. They come in sizes. I have an oriental on carpet that used to creep until I got the mat. All of my rugs on the hardwood floors that are not self gripping have them as well. They work and do no harm to the carpet or floors.
Q: I spilled some coffee on the carpet and nothing seems to take it out at the moment. Do you have any ideas?
Preen carpet stain remover ~ you just spray it on, leave it for about 1 minutes and then use a dry cloth and using a circular movement rub gently on the stain and it should come off ~ good luck :)
