Q: A pen broke open on the carpet and without my knowledge, my dad went and sprayed rubbed it with Windex which I'm pretty sure it made it worst. I looked online and tried using hairspray and vinegar water but it hardly helped. Should I try nail polish remover or baking soda? Please help!
Try automotive brake cleaner. It will dissolve it like magic.
Q: you know the little rugs that kind of curve around the base of your toilet and a little in front?i left it outside and it stormed overnight and it blew off of the deck into some nastiness on the ground and its all soaking wet.can i just throw it in the washer? i don't want to ruin the stuff on the underside, like have it all fall off you know?haha i hope you understand what i'm talking about:/ thanks=)
You can throw it in the washer. Don't put it on high heat or use the tumble dryer. That's what tears up the rubber backing. You should be able to wash it a few times before it starts to fall apart.
Q: We have a large carpet that we want to cut and lay over our cream one (to save it as we have a two year old) The carpet WILL fray and become untidy and we have heard that it will cost 80p per 12 inches to get it 'overlocked' or is it called 'binding' (the edges sewn up so it doesnt fray) and we just cant afford it as the measurements are 16 feet x 9 feet = ?40 (odd)... Ive done a little research and have come across 'double sided carpet tape' (?) also I see something else 'GLUE'.. that can be used. Does anyone out there know how we would do it... the tape AND glue (?) Can someone give me step by step instructions or directions on how to stop this carpet from coming undone and fraying. Thank you very much indeed. x
Paint the back side of the carpet with a latex glue. This product is used to make repairs to the edges of expensive wool rugs.
Q: Carpet is worn to padding something black under the carpet its showing and landlord is cheap and doesn't want to fix anything. Exterminator told landlord a year ago it needed replaced but landlord ignored. My kids and I have to wear flip flops in the house because this carpet is nauseating. I was going to buy a carpet cleaner but im not wasting my money or time on this carpet. Been here 8 years and carpet was here before I moved in.
Carpet can be changed while you live there. You just need to be willing to move all furniture out so they can replace the carpet. And yes there are heath codes regarding carpets. Check with your local heath department in your state.
Q: My cat ruined my carpet, and I want to rip it up. Where do I take the carpet ?
make ur cat eat it
Q: Water was spilled on his rug a few days ago and now the smell of skunk where the water was spilled is becoming overwhelming. Tried scrubbing it with soap but once it dried the smell came back. And there absolutely was no skunk in the house. No animals in the house either. Wondering if my daughter peed on that spot ( she pulls her diaper off sometimes). Please suggest something to get rid of the smell I can't afford the steam cleaner right now but I have a wet/dry shop vac.10 points for best answer thanks in advance for your help
Boys track all kinds of smelly things into the house on their feet. It could be skunk smell. Everyone who has told you to use plain white vinegar is right. If you want to heat it to near boiling, that could not hurt either. Then dry as best as you can with white towels or color fast towels. Use the shop vac to extract as much water as you can and put a fan on the spot. You want to get it as dry as possible. Health food stores and pet stores sometimes sell safe enzymatic cleaners for pet stains. They really do work on all kinds of animal or urine stains and odors. Tomato juice works because of the enzymes in tomatoes. I would not put it on your carpet. It will smell like rotten tomatoes over time, and stain your carpet red. If your son did get into a patch of ground where a skunk had been, some of the smell might also be lingering on his shoes and clothes. Sometimes time is the best solution to bad smells. Time, fresh air and sunshine all work wonders. If you can't pick up the smell right away, just keep the room picked up, open a window when you can, run a fan to keep air circulating around, and open the blinds.
Q: does anyone know of any antibacterial carpet powder?
Never heard of it.
Q: The lid wasn't screwed on all the way, and now there is a lump of it on the carpet..how can I get it out without ruining carpet!?
Wait until the nailpolish dries. Then get a bottle of nail polish remover and pour some of the remover onto a rag or paper towel. Lightly dab at the nail polish spot until it dissolves away. This may take many paper towels to get it all up.
Q: Our carpet is 8 years old (because we moved here 8 years ago), severely stained to such an extent that we're ashamed to look at it, has an interesting but unappealing smell, and is all over disgusting. We live in an apartment complex and have been begging for someone to do something about this carpet, however we've just decided to clean it ourselves. There's this Rug Doctor up for rent for a small fee at our local supermarket, and I was wondering if it would do any good. I want a cleaner carpet and gosh darn it, I hope this Rug Doctor can make it one.Would the Rug Doctor work on such a carpet? I am not exaggerating when I say it is dreadful (and I mean exceptionally dreadful). How has it worked for you?
As a professional carpet cleaner I must admit I hear many people say the rug doctor does just as good a job as a professional. The people who say this however have never hired a professional. for cleaning purposes power is everything, lets look at the 3 most important numbers in carpet cleaning 1 water pressure 2 vacuum lift and 3 water temperature. the rug doctor runs at about 50 pounds water pressure 3-4 pounds of vacuum lift and the temperature is water you get out of your faucet. (the rug doctor is also designed to be a spotting machine, it was not designed to clean a whole room) A machine you can buy for your personal use runs about 60-70 pounds of water pressure 5-6 pounds of vacuum lift, most are also limited to the temperature you get out of you faucet however many of the better ones do have heaters in them. A proffesional grade portable carpet cleaner runs between 75-120 pounds of water pressure, with 7-10 pounds of vacuum lift and most will have a heater in them that heats the water to about 150 F A truck mount carpet cleaning machine however typically runs at 500 pounds of water pressure, with 15 pounds of vacuum lift and heats the water to almost 200 F. If the truck mount also uses a rotary cleaning machine it will make the equivalent of over 300 passes per minute compared to 10 -15 passes with other types of machines. Also you want to take into consideration experience, as you may have guessed I'm a proffesional carpet cleaner I clean over 1000 houses a year. You may have cleaned you carpets 2-3 times a year like in all things experience counts. For the best results I suggest you call a professional cleaner, preferably one with a truck mount machine and a rotary cleaner As an incentive to get your landlord to pay for the carpet cleaning you can point out a landlord can claim carpet cleaning on his taxes
Q: ok so these might be stupid questions but.. can cooler rugs:a)be used under other rugs?b) be left on the horse when out in his field to stay clean?c)be usesd as an anti sweaet rug?d)be usesd as a travel rug?e) be usesd as a stable rug?thanks!!
