- Here are your options: 1. Declaw the cat. There is a new LASER procedure which is LESS painful, LESS bloody, and they recover sooner. 2. Soft Claws. They are small pieces of plastic that you glue onto the nails. Of course, when the nail sheds off, you must replace them. 3. Double-sided tape. Put double-sided tape on the area he/she is clawing. They do not like the sticky feeling. 4. Be sure to place a scratching post (impegnated with catnip as an attractant) right in front of the sofa where he/she scratches. It is a physical barrier, and hopefully, the cat will learn to scratch the post (in the proper place) and not the sofa. You can slowly move the post away from the sofa over several days. 5. Spike pads ... sounds worse than it is!!! They are plastic pads with small plastic spikes (NOT SHARP, but the cat does not like walking on it nor laying down or sitting or standing on the spikes) and this is a physical barrier to the cat being ON the sofa. Of course, if he/she does not scratch while ON the sofa, place the mat on the floor near where he/she stands to do his/her scratching. See links below for the specific items I am referring to. - we have a lazy boy sofa its 3 parts (both ends recline) the middle is where you have drinks etc each side of the ends has a long flat hook type affair and the middle has a slot for it to go in but they are enforced where these are fixed on i would be hesitant to start drilling something like this in, in case yours wasn't could you make something to slot on underneath like a long bit with 2 sides that fit snugly where they join? that makes sense in my head, i bet it doesn't written down
- Q: I purchased a Rowe sofa close to 5 years ago for around $1000. The frame recently broke- quite bad, too, as it's now entirely on the floor- and, when I called the original retailer, I was told I would have to pay for labor on the sofa, although the warranty is a limited lifetime warranty that protects against breakage caused by manufacturing defects. There is no mention of labor costs in the warranty. Does anybody know about sofa/furniture warranties, specifically this company's? - I havent used this company, but I had a sofa bed where the actual bed collapsed and pat of it was resting on the floor rather than being attached to the side of the couch..(which meant that it was useless as you couldnt sleep on it and there for you couldnt fold it away and sit on the couch).it was still under the 5 yr warranty all I had to do was to get the couch to the retailer and they repaired it with no cost to me.... I dont see why you should have to pay for labour costs when its under warranty good luck

- I've never slept on a sofa bed that was comfortable. The mattresses are too thin for comfort. However, most of the time, the main purpose of a sofa bed is convenience, not comfort. They are a furniture item meant for occasional or short-term use. I think if you are going to Paris, you can stand a sofa bed for two weeks! I know I could, unless it was paper thin and I was sleeping on metal bars. In that case, I'd buy a blanket or a cheap mattress foam pad to plump it up a bit. I think you'll be okay. Concentrate on enjoying Paris!

- You can use it, but it's going to feel a bit weird because the fold out bed part is what adds support/stability to the piece when it's being used as a sofa. All I can say is try it to see if it will be comfortable for you. If you find the manufacturer's tag on it, you can always contact the maker to find out if replacement mattress bed mechanism is available for the model that you have. If so, and you decide to order, just know that you'll have to have it installed by someone who works with upholstered furniture.

- You do not get a SOFA card. The SOFA is the Status of Forces Agreement. That is the equivalent of a treaty where the host country agrees to defer legal matters to be handled by say...the U.S. for U.S. personnel. What you need is an immigration visa. You have to get the packet together and submit it through the U.S. Consulate (Embassy) in your particular region. There is one in Frankfurt, Berlin and I think Munich, but I am not sure about that one. I was married to a British woman, and had to get the ducks in a row before she could come to the U.S. She eventually became a dual citizen. I lived in Germany for 6 years while assigned in the U.S. Army there. Being that your spouse is from a former Soviet Bloc country, there may be an additional hurdle too, but once again, talk to the Consulate about that.
