Q: I had to press 5 different types of leaves from my yard for part of my science project. I put newspaper, then the leaves, then a little more newspaper, then my english textbook, a dictionary, and a gallon of water. I let it sit for a week. My results:Australian bottle tree, Australian willow, kumquat bush, and lemon tree leaves worked perfectly.But... the ficus leaf (still got flattened and everything) is BROWN!What happened?I need to know ASAP so I know if I should try the ficus again or do a different type of leaf. I only have time for one more round of pressing before the project is due! Thanks :)
Ficus plants are always a problem when pressing. The main reason is that they have latex in their tissues and many of them have relatively thick leaves. Not only do they turn brown (or even black) but the leaves usually drop off the stems. There are a few ways to make good Ficus specimens but the ones I've heard of require alcohol (enough to dip the plants in) and you'd need to be able to apply dry heat to your press for a few days at least. So, if you don't HAVE to have a Ficus, use something else (weed from your lawn would be easiest).
Q: I'm talking calf pressing with a leg press machine. I'm a 19 year old female athlete and each time I go to the gym I add more and more weight on and can still do it relatively easily. Right now I'm at around 650 lbs. I do around a 100 reps of it before my feet cramp and I stop. The only thing that is getting more difficult is lifting it off the safety catch. The actual calf pressing is easy. I just want to know if I will eventually be able to max out, or if I will even be able to try before my quads are just not able to lift the weight up.
If you want to work your calves to failure, it's not hard to do. Use a calf machine. As for the leg press, there's no way we can know because we don't know how strong your legs are. However, you can always work to failure simply because there is always an upper limit to how many calf presses you can do. Try doing 1000 and if that's not enough do 10,000 reps...etc. So the rather obvious answer to your question is yes. Good luck and good health!! ?
Q: Ive Been Going to the gym and ive started to bench press but i heard theirs a right way to bench..
t’s a very common question I get asked all the time in the gym, via email and on the forums. “Can you give me some tips for increasing my bench press?” You see the bench press is often used to measure a guy’s strength. The heavier your bench, the stronger you are right? Wrong. Now anyone who’s knows anything about lifting weights and body strength knows that that this is absolutely not true. However, as far as upper body exercises are concerned it’s probably the best exercise to measure upper body strength. So I’m going to give you my top 10 tips for increasing your bench press. I have hit bench press plateaus before, and I can tell you from personal experience that not being able to up your bench press for a matter of months is extremely frustrating. But using these tips below has always got me through the plateau to add those extra pounds.
Q: i wanna try press on nails, and do them myself, but before buying it i wanna know do they ruin your nails? and how can i put them on, so my nails don't get destroyed! can i put a strengther on before i stick the nail on?help?!xoxoDsaysrawr
Press ons will not damage ur nails as much as glue ons, but press ons come off easier than glue ons. You. Nail strengthener is always a good idea V V V check link
Q: I just bought a YUDU. Instead of heat setting the ink by ironing, I was told to get a heat press, it would be faster and easier.
Hot pressing and steam together
Q: nice pressed powder makeup that looks good nice only drugstore please links please for a better idea.or high end but needs to be very good
clinique does a good pressed powder compact. it comes in a range of colours and has good coverage.
Q: I have a 1995 Honda Accord...I had a friend change my brakes and rotors - But to find out he couldnt change the rotors, Cuz they are pressed on....I told another guy mechanic that says he is able to get them off - Is there a way he can, I dont want to be left witht he same problem then have to go take it to a shop and spend 3 times as much.
All those folks who answered that no Honda's have press-on rotors or that there is no such thing have clearly never seen a 93-97 Accord. Those models use rotors which are indeed pressed on to the hub as you have already discovered, then bolted on for good measure. Instead of the usual 1-hour replacement like 99% of cars that use floating rotors these book for 3.5 hours. Big fun. If your mechanic guy is a real mechanic guy with real tools like a hydraulic press then yes, this should be routine stuff for him. This is not a do it in the backyard kind of job. There are several technique's for separating the rotor from the hub. At my shop the preferred method is to unbolt the entire knuckle and put the whole works in the shop press.
Q: what does the perm press do on a washing machine?
It is for stuff that doesn't need to be ironed, like polyester. What it does is NOT spin so much water out of the fabric (because that also contributes to wrinkling). Put directly in and out of the dryer promptly is also recommended for these types of fabrics.
Q: Hi, I just wanted to ask a question about basic press-ups.For the last few weeks i've been doing 100 press ups a night, in two sets of 50 (with a good few minutes break in between), anyway i noticed a huge difference at first, but for a while it's not actually improving anything. Anyway i was wondering if it would be effective to switch this exericse to alternative days, and on the other days to do 50 normal press ups, 10 narrow ones (with hands together touching) and 10 wide ones (with arms considerably far apart) or other amounts depending on how difficult it will prove; so my question is would this prove effecitve and is it worthwhile? Otherwise i'll just continue with 100 press ups. Many thanks
the best thing you could do to get results with press ups at this stage (seeing as you can do more than 50 pushups) is to condense your workouts one set once or twice a week doing as many pushups as you can till failure. that's it. each time you do pushups try and do more than you did previously and that will help you get results. another good way to go about getting results with press ups is to switch to a more difficult variation whcih will decrease the number of reps you can do. you can also try wearing a backpack with weights put inside to weigh you down as you do the press ups.
Q: Now, is it me, or is this workout vaguely effective? Is this truly a genuine chest workout? I have always done flat bench dumbell presses and incline bench presses, and have just introduced the Decline into my workout. Despite this being a new workout for my body, I do not get sore, nor do I feel exhausted. Also, I can Decline about 15 pounds more than I can flat bench and Incline, despite having little experience with the workout. So tell me your opinion; is this a good workout? Is it a true chest exercise? How is it different than Incline/flat? Thanks guys,
I have been taught that there is no pectorals worked in the decline. Though it is not a good chest exercise, the narrow grip decline barbell press is an exercise for your arm routine. My basic chest routine is push-ups to warm up, 3 flat press, 3 flat flies, 3 incline presses, 3 incline flies, cable cross overs, then I do dips or push-ups to failure. If you have a graviton dip machine in your gym it is a great way to squeeze out that last bit at the end of your chest routine. Remember to randomize between dumbbell and barbell exercises to your body does not get accustomed to your routine. If you are looking for size make sure you warm up, but beware the dangers of over training. Get lots of sleep and your lifting routing should be banged out in 25-30 minutes. Then move onto your daily abs/core routine(s) and if you have a calorie surplus ... your cardio.
