- There are all sorts of aids available to help train a cat to NOT be someplace. Please look at the links below... one is a double-side sticky tape that you can tape to the chair. Cats hate the stickiness, and will avoid it. When the cat learns to stay off of it, you can remove the tape (it's clear, so it won't look too ugly while you are using it). Another device is a mat of small plastic spikes (they're not SHARP!!! so they won't harm her). There are scat sprays available, which I don't think are very effective. Do you have a cat tree of any sort? Cats WANT to be HIGH, and the back of the chair is a HIGH place. If you can place a cat tree in the area that is even HIGHER, she will naturally go to that instead. If she is SCRATCHING your leather chair, then you need to provide substitute scratching posts and things. If you place one or two scratching posts or other scratching surfaces, she will gravitate to scratching THOSE instead. I know it works! Me… kittyslave23… I know my place.

- Even the main inexpensive places could have good couches, so seem around and heavily look on the settee, make constructive it has a guaranty too, if the settee breaks, you dont % to be caught with it!!!

- Q: i have these wooden chairs that have dried peeling paint i need to get off so i can stain them. there is no varnish or stain i can see, just old paint. Is sanding it off the best way to go? are there sanders small enough to get into the corners and grooves? i am pregnant, so chemicals are not an option. thank you!
- Yes you can sand it off. But it is very time consuming and labor intensive. Wear a breathing mask, dust particles from some paints can be more toxic than the chemicals from strippers. You might want to put this project off until the baby is born. But if you wear a good breathing mask this will protect you from inhaling any harmful fumes. Even if you decide to use a stripper you will still have to do some sanding into the fine corners and crevasses. They make a lot of attachments to hand held tools for fine work (A Dermal ). They also make a small palm sander called the mouse that works well for most crevasses.

- The same way you clean any fiber product. Liquid cleaning chemicals, agitation, removal of soil, removal of cleaning chemicals, dry time... Laundry detergent works great on most fiber products. Dissolve a little in water to create a cleaner that just won't allow you to snap your fingers. Scrub it into the fiber using a scrubber that is less-tough than the fiber itself. You want a scrubber that will move the fibers without damaging them. Then, using a small wet vac, suck up the loosened soil and moisture. Follow that with a scrubbing of a mixture of 1/8 cup of plain white vinegar mixed in 1 quart of water, to break down the cleaner for removal. If you dip your hand in the cleaner mix, then dip your hand in this mix, you should be able to snap your fingers again, if not, add a little more vinegar, you wasted detergent in your cleaning mix. Repeat this one more time with plain water Suck that up with the vac and let it dry completely. After it drys completely, you can repeat the procedure until it's as clean as you like. Note: Never soak a fiber that has a backing. Most backings usually break down to some degree when wetted, and take along time to dry. A scrubber can be anything from a towel to a brush. If it has abrasive qualities that will not harm the material, it can be used, including your fingernails. And... don't be fooled by the dry cleaners... water is necessary to flush out soils... it's the #1 solvent on earth, and chemicals simply make water wetter... Last note... this works for carpet spills also, all my old Clients have 1 gallon wet vacs under their kitchen sinks.
