Many of the best office chairs have a knob that will raise and lower the seat, levers that will adjust the back forward and backward. and another lever that adjusts the seat forward and backward and plump (just like in your car but in a different manner). If the description of the chair doesn't say it will do all of those things you probably should skip buying it because it won't have it if it's not in the description.

- chair railing can be inexpensive (relatively) depending on what design you want in it....its pretty easy to install but if you are doing it on your own and are not familiar with how to miter (for the corners you will want to miter) you might want to take a couple of practice stabs on a scrap.....ideally you want a miter saw for this but its not totally necessary (i have used just a circular saw set at the proper degree)....if you get it custom cut at the hardware store then be sure your measurments and angle degrees are accurate because once its cut there is no giving it back, you still have to pay for it, and you still have to buy more to replace it

- which draw 4.7 Amps for the chair (not counting whirlpool or discharge pump), you may not even be able to put one on a 15 amp circuit, because while it *runs* on less than 5 amps (which means 3 of them could run on a circuit), they draw about *four times* that much at startup... so they need nearly 20 amps to safely start. A 20 amp circuit could run 2 or 3, as long as they're not started all at once.

- The way a gas spring chair works is that the piston inside the cylinder contains a valve, which lets nitrogen gas pass from one side of the cylinder to the other (see the link below for a diagram). The compression is created because of the volume of the piston rod being introduced into the cylinder, but at all times the pressure on either side of the piston is the same. The lever on the underside of the seat opens the valve in the piston. If you sit on the chair but don't pull the lever, the gas in the piston cannot flow through the valve, so piston remains extended. When you pull that lever, the valve opens and allows gas to flow across the piston, so the piston is able to move down and the gas is compressed. When the chair is at half-height and the lever is released, the valve closes, preventing the piston from moving either way, because the pressures are equal on either side (the pressure in the cylinder is so great that the extra pressure added by sitting on the chair is tiny by comparison). When the chair is at its lowest, the compressed gas is all above the piston, holding it down. It's only when the valve is opened that gas can flow to the other side to raise it.
