Q: My hard disk power cable was burned and when i connected my HD to another system, it is working....so what could be the problem in my pc???
May have fried part of powersupply if wires shorted where burnt. Check inside powersupply for blown fuse. If blown, replace. If not, check into new powersupply.
Q: I have digital cable through Cox. The receiver is plugged in, and the electricity is fine, but it won't turn on! Please help! I don't want to pay for repairs!
If your not getting any power to the box no little green lite or humming noise coming from the box then its dead. your just going to need to get the box replaced you should be able to just bring your box in and trade it out to avoid a service call charge.
Q: I have a Maxtor 3200 and I accidentally plug in the wrong power cable for it. I saw the light flicker on then off. I realized my mistake and tried to plug it in its correct cable but now it won't turn on at all. I figure that the wrong cable must of forced too much energy through it. I have a lot of important files on there. I know that fixing it won't be cheap, I fully realize that. However, is there any hope of retrieving my files at all?
Without knowing more, I can give you a definite answer. However, you do have a chance of getting your files back, especially if it's just the enclosure that's fried. In that case, it's a no brainer to yank the drive, and either toss it on a converter cable, or directly in a system. Have you looked to see how hard it is to take apart the enclosure?
Q: I'm gonna be running a 2,700watts RMS system on a Power Acoustik 4,500watt Class D Monoblock amp at 1-ohm. I have a 2005 Impala LS do I'm going to need a secondary battery. What size should it be? Also what size power wire and ground wire should I use? I'm going to be using 8gauge speaker wire. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Q: Regarding car audio setup, if I were to have an 8 ga power cable powering an amplifier for subs, what would happen if I were to use a smaller ga grounding cable? What if I used a larger ground cable?
the ground dose not matter it the power wire if you have a 8 ga power wire your amp needs to be like a 1000 watt amp if you have a 1500 watt amp you need a 4 ga wire and if you have a 2000 and up 0 ga BIG BIG BIG BIG thing from a 1500 watt amp and up you need to a double ground if you dont no what that is its were you take a wire and run it to your car battery and hook it up to the nigative on the battery then run that wire to the ground you have already made run the ground in to your amp this well save you money and time bc if you dont do it it can make your battery frie and you well blow fuses out the ***
Q: Question says it all.
Shouldn't be an issue. Just like an electrical outlet at home - it doesn't matter if you plug a microwave or a night-light. Both are handled without any issues.
Q: I'm trying to find out whether a laptop computer can be powered by an adapter via USB cable. Is it possible? Feasible? Available? Thanks!
Some lower-powered devices can be powered by USB. I believe a laptop would draw too much amperage to be powered by USB.
Q: JUST the cable modem and router, not the whole PC. This is for the internet/ phone service.
There's no way of saying without further information. You need to know the amount of power provided by the UPS battery as well as the power drain by the cable modem and router to calculate this accurately. Generally speaking, a standard household model of cable modem and router do not pull a lot of power. Just ballparking it, since the power drain from both is fairly low...A UPS 750 will probably support the two devices together for about 45 minutes to nearly an hour...assuming NOTHING else is plugged into the UPS and using power from it. Be aware, however, that your local ISP will also be on backup or generator power...during an extended outage from a hurricane or serious snowstorm...sooner or later, they will go down too. .
Q: Can someone tell me if the computer descibed below would have a plug for a 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connector?Intel G33 Chipset Supporting Core 2 Quad and Core 2 ExtremeFull HD 1080P video output4 DDR2 DIMM slots (Supports up to 8GB)Dual Channel Memory SupportFour SATA II SlotsSupports SATA RAID 1 (Mirroring)One PCI Express x16 - One PCI Express x1 - Two PCIIntegrated Intel HD Audio and Ethernet (LAN)Eight USB 2.0 (4 front, 4 rear)
It depends on your PSU (power supply). My current OCz PSU has 2 PCI 6pins specifically for video cards. I would check that out. Its usually pretty common with computers nowadays, so I wouldn't really worry about it.
Q: Most systems are about 1 thousand watts, the red power cable is really thick but then the speaker wire is really thin about 12 gauge, shouldn't the speaker wire be as thick as the power cable?
No. Wire thickness is about current (and length). And current is inversely related to voltage. When voltage is high (like an amp's speaker outputs) it takes less current to make power. When voltage is low (like a car's alternator/battery) it takes a lot of current to make power. Alternator voltage is ~14v. Amplifier output voltage is commonly 20-40v. Your 1000w example... Say it's a fairly efficient class D mono, 1000w at 2 ohms and 80% efficient. To produce that 1000w requires 1250w from the alternator at around 13v. Ohm's law says current (I) = power(p)/voltage(e) So I = 1250/13, I = 96A On the output side -- I = sqrt(p/r), I = sqrt(1000/2), I = 22A
