Q: The car is either a 2005 or 2006 and runs pretty great except the check engine light tends to come on and stay on and sometimes when the check engine light is on the car will slightly shake in sort of a jerk motion then it will stop immediately. I do notice this happens when the car has not been driven in a few days. We have taken the car to auto mechanics and when they run the code they say it could be a number of things but never give a resolution to the problem. I am a female so I dont know much about cars and the car seems to be okay except for this problem. I plan on driving across country so I want some insight on what this could be before I make this trip.
The codes are usually quite specific as to what they mean. Some auto stores will run codes for free - like Pep Boys, Auto Zone or O'Reilly (i think.) They will tell you what the code says and sell you any parts that they can determine. If it is fuel/emission related The light should STAY on. If it is mis-fire (which it sounds like you have) the light will go out after a while if the mis-fire stops. There are specific codes for misfire of a single cylinder. if you have one cyl misfire it could be plug or injector. There is code for random misfire. If you have that it could be water in fuel or bad fuel can cause this. If fuel is ok could be bad failing fuel pump or plugged fuel filter. Any competent technician should be able to diagnose it. If it has a drain plug in the bottom of the fuel tank have someone crack loose the plug and drain a quart or so out into a pan. Water and gas don't mix - so look for globs of water - water lays on the bottom of the tank and occasionally gets slopped around where it gets sucked into the fuel intake. Can cause your symptoms. Auto stores sell fuel Dryers that will dissolve water and run it through the system. ask them about it.
Q: My 2000 Saturn SL2 ABS and Brake light come on when I hit about 25 mph and before the abs light comes on when I hit the brakes the ABS engage like I‘m on ice. I changed both ABS sensors and checked the fuse, could it be the brake master cylinder? (the brake pedal is kind of spongy) I went to Auto Zone and they said their scanner only does check engine lights.
Check your brake fluid level, if that is low then check for leaks in the system. Could be brake calipers, wheel cylinder steel lines, rubber hoses, master cylinder. If the fluid level is ok and you find no leaks dont spend anymore money till you get the ABS Module scanned and you know what codes are in it that will help you diagnose the problem.
Q: The car had it‘s transmission replaced last year and it felt somewhat similar when the transmission was going. It has 120k miles and other than the transmission has always been a trooper. It hasn‘t stalled yet at a low speed but it feels like it‘d like to. Anyone have any guesses? Is the check emission light and check engine light the same on this car? Pretty terrified.
chances are THAT YORU trans REPLACEMENT WAS not necessarY AND YOU WERE A victim HERE! HE check engien light SHOULD BE tested for free AT ANYH auto zone! i WOUDL start TAKING $20-40 TO any oil change center AND HAVING YORU throttle body AND idle air control valve CLEANED OUT! chances are that you have been using VERY CHEAP oil changes WHCIH HAS started YOUR PROBLEMS! tHESE ENGIEN just love mobil one 0W-30 AND 0W-20 engien oil! iT KEPPS sludge FROM EVER FORMING AND converters WILL LAST TILL NEXT CENTURY! amsoil IS ANOTHER great fully SYNHETIC TO USE! POER WASH ENGINE BAY with GUNK ORANG ORIGNAL cleaner FIRST! LEANR whrer yoru IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE IS! LUCKILY on ALL ford engiens, thsi VITAL engein part is REMOVEABLE for cleaning up! WHEN THEY STICK form SLDUGE you DUMP your AIR/FUEL mixture at LOW speeds and you can expect O sensor problems and even a FILELD UP CONVERTER over time! FORD makes GREAT STUFF and tests them THOROUGHLY before they hit the public, USUALLY! WHA exactly happend to YOUR TRANS that you needed a REBUIOLD! Those are really ROCK SOLID and co-engineered by GM people as well! My family has owned FOUR TAURS cars, and they ALL got TRANS FLUID CHANGS on time, and had CLEAN IAC valves! the IAC also has to do withTRANS SHFIT POINTS on front drive cars olike this one is! I THINK you got ROBBED here! EMISSIONS systems include VAPOR VALVE and HOSES, and EGR valves that wil SCK if SDL:UDGE builds up in them. But the 3.0 engien is ROCK SOLID and wil NEVER USE ANY OIL! It is made the way BENZ engiens are made with HIGH SILICON CYLLIDNER WALL CONTENT! EXCELLENT! I suggest that most of your WOES were cause by NEGLECT and using CHEAPEST OIL! NO VALVOLINE shodul be used in these engines at any time! IT MAKES SLDUGE INSIDE SENSOS and can TRASH Out your O2 sensors as well! GOOD LUCK!!
Q: This code is coming from my wife‘s 1998 Toyota Camry (3.0L V6).The print-out that I got from Auto Zone says this:Evaporative emission control system vent control circuit faultProbable causes:1. Open or short circuit condition2. Poor electrical connection3. Faulty CCV vent control solenoidIf anyone has had any similar codes from their car, please let me know if it needs to be checked out right away or if it can wait a week or two.I know, the sooner the better.but realistically, we can‘t get it checked out right away.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
No biggie. It will fail smog test, but won't hurt anything. It should be a simple fix.Parts and labor +/- $100. A check engine light indicates that there is a sensor that is reading a condition that is out of range. Simply resetting the light does not solve the initial cause of the problem. Replacing a number of parts trying to troubleshoot the problem in the hopes of getting the light to stay off is a tremendous waste of time and money. The simplest, and most economical way to alleviate your issue, is to have an engine diagnostic done by a reputable shop to determine what caused the computer to signal you to begin with. Just reading the computer codes may not find the cause.
Q: 2005 diesel , auto, 4x4 Had transmission rebuilt 3 month ago. Truck runs great for 50 miles. Wont shift ?
If the car has antilock brakes you need adapters to bypass the antilock feature in order to bleed the brakes.
Q: Thanks for answering so soon.Almost every year I have been going to the Toyota dealer with this problem. They mention different codes while none of my mechanics cannot find anything wrong in the systems and the car runs fine. I have spend money on diagnostics and replacement of parts to then few months later have the light on again. Are they tampering? Is there something wrong that has not been fixed? One of my mechanics said it could be anything small, such as a leak, or something loose. He says he cannot find it. The Toyota people obviously neither.Any idea?
Probably a bad sensor that works most of the time then acts up again after a while. O2 sensor Bad fuel or cheap fuel. Loose connection or frayed wires.
Q: 04 durango engine light.why did it come on?
could be any number of things on that one a loose gas cap will set the light to come on,your best bet would be to have the computer scanned on it,and this will tell you what caused it,most of the time its a sensor that makes it come on or an intermittent problem in the system,it may not even have the problem now,but the light will still be set once the problem happens, have it scanned auto zone will do this for free, and tell you what caused it to come on,then you can repair it,you cant guess at this one though, there's too many things that can cause it to happen, good luck .,,PS if its not showing any problems on the scanner it could be a filter or it was just an intermittent problem that may not even be there now, good luck.
Q: can you give there couse and meaning
Hypertension - vascular system Hyperthrophic cardiomyopathy - cardiac system Small cell carcinoma - pulmonary system Multiple myeloma - skeletal system
Q: My check engine light was on, went to Autozone, they did the test, said it was my Cat converter and to change the spark plugs. I did that, unplugged my battery to reset my system, and check engine light came BACK on.My father and stepdad both think it‘s probably the o2 sensor. What is that, and is it expensive to have done?
many people make the mistake of going to autozone and having their codes read.autozone is in the parts selling buissness not the auto repair buissness.maybe theres more to the story than you wrote in your question,,,,but them telling you to change plugs was wrongyou have already spent money that may not have been needed now your giong to spendanother 100 on a o2 senser on a guess.sorry but todays cars need diagnostics run on them by a qualified tech with modern equipment,,,parts are to expensive just to take a guess at whats wrong(unless you want to start a relationship with the guy at autozone).its hard to believe that a 04 corolla needs a cat,and your dad could be right but unless u have somebody that knows what they are doing look at this issue.u could be spending lots of money and your car will still have a ses light on .
