- Q: The light disappears spontaneously after 1 seconds. The car drives ok afterwards. The oil level looks fine on dipstick, and I have one bar left on the auto oil change indicator. This has been happening for the last 2-3 weeks. I recently had a dead battery, which is lt;1 yr old, and thought it might be a bad alternator. Could this all be due to that? Thanks
- All cars have a sensor which detects oil pressure. That sensor is probably bad or the electrical connector could have become disconnected from it causing your ECM to give a false indication. Or the wire/s itself somewhere else could have been broken. So really there are 3 things that could cause your oil light to come on. Or worse your oil pump may be getting weak indicating its fixing to go bad or the oil pump pick up screen is clogged. But one clue to that is do you hear any tapping/ticking from within the engine? If you do then that would be an indication to the oil pump going bad or screen clogged up. Hope this helps.
- Q: when it is turned on, it doesnt make the clicking ignite sounds. None of the four burners work
- Mine has to be plugged in for the igniters to work, if yours is, check for a tripped breaker or maybe a blown fuse in the stove I can light the burners on mine with a match if there's no power.
- Q: i have an 07 ford focus, and today on the way to school, i noticed the light illuminated, and i pulled off the road to call my dad since he's car guy. but what does it mean?and how dangerous is it?it was flickering, from dim light to bright orange light, and sometimes flickered off.what should i do?
- Their is something going on with the sender for the gage to that kind of a dance Did you By the car new if how Meany miles are you still under warranty
- Q: I have a 2008 Corolla with almost 200k miles and my check engine light has been coming on and off for months. I got the car over two years ago and I have put on about 40k on it. I cant really say how the previous owners treated it because it was bought at an auction.I have noticed symptoms like bad gas mileage, loss of power and a hesitation when hitting the gasI have changed my O2 sensor, cleaned my MAF sensor, pour sea foam in my gas tank and had my throttle body cleaned. I dont know what to do because the light keeps coming back and its two of the same codes. Could it be something as simple as needing a full fuel system cleaning?
- Yes I agree with what has been said
- Q: I was looking into buying this 91 sonoma with the TBI 4.3 engine. I had it running for about 5 minutes while I was inspecting everything, and then the service light came on. So I checked for codes and got none. Turned the car back on, light came back on a couple minutes later. Gauges read fine, no leaks, idle, or acceleration problems. I have the same problem with my 92 except it does have a problem every now and then. What could this be on this truck?
- I never heard of such possibility of growing cactus in water. I lived in Tucson for 12 years and saw many cacti that died for having too much water.
- Q: Thank you all for your answers; they have been a lot of help and i shall go to Auto Zone (since they check it for free)
- The check engine light comes on for a reason, the 2003 is OBD II compliant and means that there is something wrong with the Emission system, there is another check engine light that you need to be concerned with and that's the one for over heating and low oil pressure warning light. Since you did not elaborate I wanted you to make sure you have checked the oil in the car and the coolant level in the Radiator is ok, a few other things to check is are there belts missing? is the gas cap tight? once you find this out then go and have the codes read then you would have to post the codes in order to know what may be wrong. Some cars used to have lights that a mechanic had to rest after so many miles, and that was to make sure the customer brought the car in to check it for possible problems, and did not mean anything but that. But your Year is not set that way, Once you fix the problem you can clear the codes.
- Q: Where is the position of the car lights switch?
- Emergency lights (double jump lights) are usually near the center console, the only red button, press down to double jump.
- Q: I went to work yesterday and when I got into my car the car didn‘t start and everything was shot off. The lights were on and I knew the battery was dead. After this, I got my jumper cables out and tried to jump the car but when I turned the key, the RPM gauge needle went all the way to 8 and dropped to the other side and the whole system shut down. After that, nothing else worked even with the cables connected. It‘s a 1990 Honda Civic and it‘s a fairly new battery. What is the problem and how do I fix it?
- You didn't give a lot of info. You said your lights were on. Was your headlight working? If your headlight is working then it's not your battery. The headlight drains the battery more than anything else so that would be the first to go if your battery was dead. Does your engine try to start but just doesn't quite make it or does it not make any noise at all? If no noise, do you hear a clicking noise? These are important questions. Just tow your car into a shop. I doubt you will be able to fix your car by yourself.
- Q: I have a 2000 Ford Taurus SE Station Wagon. This is the families only car, and we have a infant in the house. We don‘t have money to go to a dealer or a shop to fix it. If you do go to the dealer they tell you like $600.00. The problem is that when my dad tries to start the car, the THEFT light keeps on flashing and won‘t let the car start. My dad has to turn the key back and forth and then after a couple of minutes(20-30 min) the theft light turns off and then the car starts. If you can tell us what the reason is and how maybe we can just disconnect the alarm because we don‘t need it. Please help us someone as we don‘t have any money. Thank you in advanced.
- Since the alarm system is factory you cannot disconnect it, but instead the computer will need to be scanned so that the problem can be located and repaired, remember than the vehicle doesn't have to be taken to the dealership but rather a certified independent auto repair shop can help you.
- Q: 2003 pt cruiser ,i had bought a new catalyic converter just looking for someone who can weild it . Previously i had check engine light and oreylies said to change oil pressure sensor and oxygen sensor. I changed oil sensor then light went off for a week then came back on. Auto zone said catalyic converter was below threshold but after traveling 350 miles the light went off . Was wondering why is it off when there is a problem with car when nothing was changed for the catalyic converter.
- A P0420 code means the catalytic converter is not working good enough to meet the minimum requirements or threshold needed. The converter needs replacing. You can't expect a cheap after market converter to work well enough to keep the code from resetting. Only WALKER or DORMAN make after market converters that have a 75% chance to work properly. Converters usually bolt on. It's the exhaust system flex pipes that get welded on. Quit listening to salesmen at auto stores.Oil pressure sensors have nothing to do with the converter, The 02 sensors are good ore the P0420 code would not have set.
