Q: The service air conditioner light on our 1991 Cadillac sedan deville 4.9 comes on when I turn the air conditioner on. The electronic climate control will not let me turn on the heat or the ac. It just defaults to economy. The ac at this point no longer blows cold air. I push the off button and eventually the light goes out. Do you have any thoughts on what may be causing this? Thank you for your help in advance. Sincerely. Also I don‘t know if this matters but I had someone look at it and it was overcharged and I have never charged it and Ive owned it since new and it always worked like a charm
Those auto climate control systems are often a real pain to properly diagnose and repair.and costly. To start with, you should check any fuses for the system to see if they are blown and have the a/c system checked for proper chargeundercharge or overcharge can cause the system to stop working. The main PCM computer is also involved in operating the HVAC system depending on engine load and throttle position, engine temp, etcso you should have it tested for trouble codes.local parts stores usually offer this as a free service. Any trouble codes might lead to better diagnosing. A shop would have to test to see which system sensors, relays or other areas are not getting power or malfunctioning or diagnose a problem with the main climate control unit. Parts and labor can get pretty spendy so many people opt to switch out the automatic climate controls for a manual control system if the car is worth keeping long term or alter the climate system to perform more manually.bypassing the computer controls with on-off switches mounted to the instrument panel or console mounting platform.
Q: My A/C does not work when set to auto or manual. When I press the contactor switch in the A/C, everything turns on. I also cleaned the condensate pump/pan. What could could be stopping the contactor switch from turning on when I set the thermostat. Thanks
well call an A/C repair dont be a miser!
Q: Okay, so I have this light that has been lit up for a while now and I looked it up in my car‘s manual book, and it said it was the engine coolant light. What is that-antifreeze??? Also, for some reason, my oil light keeps flashing, and then it will go off for a while, and then start flashing again. I just had my oil checked last week! What could it be? And where can I go to get these 2 things checked out?
if you want to look for your self check the radiator, hoses, belts, the over flow look at the color of anti freeze is it green or orange should see it thru the over flow never open a rad while it is hot anti freeze will shoot out and burn you look for leaks dry rot on the rubber keep an eye on the oil always check it car off after sit in 15 minutes on flt surface
Q: A 1700 kg automobile is at rest at a traffic signal. At the instant the light turns green, the automobile starts to move with a constant acceleration of 3.0 m/s2. At the same instant a 2200 kg truck, traveling at a constant speed of 8.0 m/s, overtakes and passes the automobile.(a) How far is the center of mass of the automobile truck system from the traffic light at t 3.0 s? **I worked through this multiple times, thinking the answer was possibly 12, 18, or 12.5 none of those were correct(b) What is the speed of the center of mass of the automobile-truck system then?**for this I thought you would just do 3+8 / 2 but that was incorrect :[Please help, thank you very much
depends on what,s making it slip ! if it,s the transmission filter then not too much ! but if it,s the bands or clutches you might as well get a good transmission from the junk yard !
Q: I have an 07 Altima 3.5SE sedan...I've been noticing when the auto-light feature is turned on, and the vehicle is just turned off, the headlights are on for an excessive period of time.
I have the same car. Mine has the Nav system. I can't recall the exact steps, but if you play around with settings through display you can adjust it down or make it turn off when you turn off the car. Mine is set for 15 seconds I believe. Kinda nice when you come into a dark garage at night to have the lights stay on until you find the door to the house.
Q: Hey gear-heads, I have a regular ‘00 Civic VP and the check engine light turned on a week ago. I just did an oil change and I reset the light by unplugging the battery for a couple minutes but the light came on after a couple hours of driving. Lately it seems I have been losing gas mileage. I don‘t know if it is the cold weather (Wisconsin) or something is wrong with the car like the O2 sensor or what not. The gas cap is on tight, so that‘s not the problem. What is your guys‘ take on the problem. Thanks in advance.
the number of blinks the check engine light does is a code and once you know the blinks like 2 long 1 short then you can look up what it says in the manual or probably ask again at yahoo answers
Q: I just got into my car this morning and noticed my ABS light is on. It was not on last night, so I have no idea what happened. My car sat inside all night, and like I said, when I got in and started it this morning, the ABS light was on and did not turn off the entire way to work. Does anyone know what may have caused this, and what needs to be done?
it is not your brake pads. your abs does not know if your brake pads are worn. possibilities are: abs sensor/ ring problem (one on each wheel, the most common problem) wiring problem/ fuses, etc. computer problem hydraulic problem (least likely if the brakes feel ok, and usually the red brake light would be on for this) and- just to be safe- check the brake fluid level. usually this will turn the red brake light on, but better safe than sorry, it takes like two minutes. when the abs light comes on, there is a trouble codesaved in the computers memory. this needs to be retrieved, using a capable scanner. next step- test according to the code as needed, etc. you should be ok to drive until you can get it checked out, as long as the brakes feel ok. you will still have your normal brakes, you just wont have the antilock feature (rain, snow, etc.) whitch some cars dont even have. when there is a serious urgent brake problem, the red brake light will light also. im assuming from your question that only the yellow abs light is on. the answers you are getting here are for the red brake light, not the abs light. hope this helps, good luck. oh also- dont disconnect the battery if you want to find out why it came on!! it will erase the memory. if it was a one time problem, and fixes itself, the light will eventually go out on its own.
Q: ENGINE LIGHT ON AND WON‘T PASS EMISSIONS IT IS NOT IN THE MANUAL OR 20.00 BOOK I BOUGHT AT AUTO ZONE IT ‘S DIAGNOSTIC PRINTED OUT THIS MESSAGE OF A MALFUNCTION OF THIS PART??? HELP
That depends on which part of the system you need. The most common problem in that system it the secondary air injection pump. It is located under the vehicle kind of in a little corner between the frame rail and crossmember. Because they are under the truck, they tend to get dirt, debris, and moisture in them which causes them to go bad. Another common failure that we see where I work is people drive the vehicle through deep water and the pupm gets full of water and shorts out. Anyhow, there are other parts to the system, but that is the most common to fail.
Q: My brake and battery lights came on yesterday afternoon. At first they were only on if I was accelerating but went off when I braked, now they stay on all the time. Also I have a really stong fluid smell but cant find a leak anywhere. It‘s smells like antifreeze but I checked all my hoses and there are no leaks on any of them. Last time this happened my car died two days later and needed a new starter. The starter was replaced in May and was brand new not used. Any ideas? Its a 91 Geo
If the strong antifreeze coolant smell is when your in the car and you've started using the heater this year, you could have a leaking heater core under your dash. If so, eventually you may see steam in the car and an oily substance on the inside of the windshield. Drive to a local auto parts store to get your battery and charging system checked for free. Check your brake reservoir yourself to see if the fluid level is up to the full mark. But you need to get the brake light checked out immediately as noted in the first answer.
Q: Will the car headlamps have an aging class how to fight the pump?
