Q: I have a Grand AM GT. My Service Engine Soon light came on recently and I cannot figure out why. I know it is not because of the gas cap because this happened before and back then it was the gas cap and now I religiously turn the cap 3 clicks when putting back on. I recently had a Fuel System Cleaning at Sears and I am wondering if that maybe has something to do with it? The light went off yesterday but came back on today. Also is there an easy way to clear that light, one that doesn‘t require a visit to a mechanic?: it could be several things causing it to come on ! it don,t take much for the light to come on ! you need to have someone run the codes on the computer, auto zone and advance can do it for you for free ! it depend on what year your grand am is ! on the older cars you could unhook the battery for about 5 minutes to clear the codes but the newer cars the garage has to do it !

Q: how do you make the x-mas lights go off and on?: Set time on and set time off? You can buy a timer control that has a electrical outlet on the backside to control what time the lights come on and go off. Like 4pm on and midnight off. For making the bulbs flashor twinkle, you have to have the above mentioned flasher bulbs and twinkle bulbs(c-7 and c-9 series only) 12.08.07 8:20pm EST

It‘s been added on, it‘s not an original part of the motorcycle.: Sounds like an aftermarket automotive fog light switch. You could probably find a replacement at any auto parts store, but before you hook the new switch up again, you should trace the wiring to make sure the system is wired correctly. If it's not, it could cause more problems somewhere down the road.

Q: Took it to Auto Zone and the OBD Trouble Code is P0402 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation flow Excessive Detected? anyone got an idea on a cure for the problem, that and I guess with the trouble code it won‘t read whatever they read to pass emissions - at leats that is how it was explained to me?: This code is usually caused by a bad DPFE sensor (delta pressure feedback egr sensor) this is a dealer item best to have the dealer check it first, won't take long 1.0 hr

Q: I have a 1999 chevy S10 mini blazer, and I can‘t get reid of the check engine n the ABS n pass anger light off.I repaired everything and gave it a good tune up n replaced the brakes n what ever else needed to be fix.But those lights won‘t go offI did the battery thing, n the engine light went off.But just for three hours, the other two never went off???HELP I NEED MY TRUCK TO PASS SMOG!!!!: The check engine light comes on whenever there is a computer fault or multiple faults. You need to go to auto-zone or oriellys and have them pull the codes for free. Ones you know what fault codes there are, then you can actually fix the problem. It's probably an oxygen sensor fault of some type, since it takes 3 hours to come back. Could also be an intermittent engine miss, or it's related to the fuel tank evap system. Go get the codes, then you will know what to fix.

Q: Went and got a stereo installed everything worked fine b4 now my clock dome light and trunk lights do not work I drove my car to my mechanic and they checked my fuses they are fine they said to go back and ask the people who installed my stereo system if they would pay for iti paid $430 for this system and all it was, was a new cd/mp3 player and sub/ampi already had to go back because the sub they gave me had a patchthey replaced it .btw when they were done with it my SRS light was on i sat and waited 2 hours for them to finally turn it off and i waited for them to try and fix the clock for them to tell me its probably not even worth fixing after i told them it worked before I‘m pretty angryso my question is am I stuck with the bill or should I ask them to help pay it or all?: Take it back and tell them, don't ask, tell them, to fix your clock, dome light and trunk light. If they can't or won't, tell them to remove the stereo they installed, put everything back like it was, and refund your $430. If they refuse to do that, go speak to an attorney about it and let the attorney speak for you with those people.

So here‘s the codes: PO171system to lean, bank ox; PO743torque converter, circuit electrical; PO1401Manf. control auxiliary, emissions controls; PO1507Manf. control veh. speed, Idle speed control, auxiliary inputs; PO1744Manf. Control, transmission. I had the transmission replaced with used one last year. It seems OK, but after I drive it a while the OD light starts flashing. But the real rough idle when car is stopped is really bothering me. It is worse when it is in drive, but still bad when in nuetral or park, so it may be related to transmission. It reminds me of the way a stock car idles, but my car is far from being race car. PLEASE help! Also, if you know where I can get suggested parts at a good price please let me know.: 1. Stop going to autozone for diagnostics. 2. Take your car to a reputable shop, for a nominal fee, they will find out what's wrong, and give you an estimate for repairs. Good luck. I would find a different shop. If he is using the same equipment as the autozone kid, he isn't keeping up with technology. As far as parts, I guess the best place would be the dealer. But again, without knowing exactly what is wrong, why start throwing parts at it?

( yellow pages ) These folks are usually good knowledgeable.
