- Q:I have a Dynacraft Next Turbo bike,I have called on the cycle companies and said I would need to call the Next company. So I was wondering, what are the crank bearing sizes for the bike? Thanks!
- You should go with Bones Original Swiss Competition Skate Bearings Skateboard wheel bearings optimum for speed and strength Precision-grade Swiss design and manufacturing acclaimed for 25 years Nylon ball retainers and Bones Speed Cream lubricant for a sustained ride Removable rubber shields make cleaning a snap Skate Rated for better performance than any ABEC rated bearings; lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects
- Q:can i make my own ball bearings for hubs, bottom bracket, etc. from a ceramic mug or the like? if its possible, what tools do i need? can i get it done at a machine shop? i would only do this if its cheaper than buying them pre-made, which in case you didnt know, can cost several hundred dollars for a full set.
- oh man I hope you're kidding. for the time and effort you spend trying to get a complete functional set of ceramic bearings (which aren't the same stuff as a coffee mug anyway) you could get a second job at McD's and afford 3 real sets.
- Q:Im not sure how to open it up.
- I just lubed up my skateboard bearings today. Sometimes you cant remove the shield (the yellow-gold part in the picture). If the shield is removable you can take a razor blade and stick it in the tiny gap between the shield and the bearing wall and lift up the shield to expose the ball bearings. you should do it carefully so you can put the shield back when you're done. If you're doing this to lube up the bearings, drop in a couple drops of lube and pinch the bearing and spin it so the lube coats the inside. then brush the ball bearing with a q-tip to remove excess lube.
- Q:It kinda makes a humming sound from the front end
- Ball bearings?? There are no ball bearings in the front end of a Ford Explorer, or any other car for that matter. Most cars use tapered roller(drum)bearings. They usually run 10-25$ per side, plus 5-15$ for new seals to put around them. Grease will be about 10$ for a can of good stuff. Do it yourself and save some money on the labor.
- Q:ok so i have a customized haro f1 bmx bike and im look to buy new bearings for my cranks or bottom bracket w.e. you call it.im not sure what kind i need.american? mid? euro? or spanish?
- Walmart motorcycles could be ok, however the climate used are each from time to time of low high quality, and the bike maximum possibly became assembled by employing some1 who had no guidance there4. all of the excellent of success, be it a walmart bike or no! Timothy :o)
- Q:Car was making grinding noise while moving. Replaced both wheel bearings and the noise went away. Drove car for 2 days then suddenly on the highway the noise comes back. I was told I toasted the bearings because I didn't use the specific torque setting on the hub nut. Does anyone know the proper settings and procedure? Could it be something else?
- Tractor, I am only familiar with replacing the rear wheel bearings on a '98-'02 Corolla so I hope that this write-up is of use to you: First you jack your car up and for safety you place it on a floor jack . Then you remove the brake drum off . Once you remove the brake drum you turn your the bearing until the hole lines up with the four bolts that hold it. Once you remove the bolts then you can remove the bearing , You might need a rubber hammer to tap it off . Then you get brake cleaner and spray the area to clean it up . Remove any grease there . While you you are there check out your wheel cylinders for leakage and your brake shoes for any wear . Give them a lightly sanding if they look shiny. Compare the two hub bearing . The OEM has a open back and the aftermarket has a sealed back. Right now is a good time to point out that going with OEM hub bearings is a better choice than after market because the quality is usually of a higher quality. Then you can put your hub bearing back on put some anti seize on the bolts then tighten and recheck . Spin it . Put some anti seize on the studs . Put your brake drum back on and adjust your rear brakes if necessary. Then put your wheel back on , make sure you tighten up your lug nuts and then you are done!
- Q:How can I measure to see what size main and rod bearings I need, I know to use plasti guage but from there how do I decide
- Proper way is to mic the journals for size. But in many cases you can still read print on back of old bearings. Originally there would have been (std) printed on back of bearings if they are standard or original size. If crank was turned say ten thousands, bearing would have (.010) printed on back for undersize crank and so on for different sizes.
- Q:What are some signs when a wheel bearing and/or ball joints are in need of replacement? For example, does the steering wheel shake a lot? What sort of noises do you hear? What happens if you don't repair/replace these parts over a long period of time?
- if at has previously been in an accident, body suspension mounts can crack loose. or could have move bent the body itself. cv joint is possible, but should have been easily caught by three different mechanics. a worn power steering sector, can cause popping noises when in a turn also. usually with worn sector problems, you will having a wondering front end that likes to dive from side to side for no reason.
- Q:Was recently told by a friend that my front two wheel bearings needed replaced (actually, that the wiring for them was pulled right out of them - which in an 99 Alero requires replacing the entire system) after an ABS light had been on for quite awhile in my car. Furthermore, he suggested that I also needed to replace a pigtail in my car - though I do not know what that is (anyone know?). He quoted me a $750 price tag on the deal and being our friend, we assume that we are getting some sort of labor deal as well - but checking it out we found some sort of pigtail online but it was only $10. With $190 for each wheel bearing that should add up to only $390 + tax so we were a little confused. Can anyone explain what/how much a pigtail is actually worth and what would be a right price on this fix with without labor? I realize prices are slightly different all over the world - so if it helps, this is in Ohio in the States. Much appreciative!!!
- Check with at least two other reputable auto centers in your area. The labor for wheel bearings can be high because the parts have to pressed by a big machine. Lots of bolts to pull and maybe you are getting new brake rotors too because bad bearings can ruin the brakes as well. good luck....
- Q:can i install crankshaft bearings without taking the crank out if so? how?
- No,the bearings need to come out so you can first clean the crank journal and second measure the dia.of the journal on the crank and the block to see if you have any wear and what size bearing to go back together with, either standard or an oversize bearing.
