- bones makes many types of bearings. Some are ABEC rated and the better ones are not. The ABEC rating is for vibration in high speed machines that run at speeds similar to skating over 200 mph. They are not the best design for skating but companies make a lot of them for other reasons and it is cheaper to get them than a design that is custom made. Bones, Twin Cam, Zero Drag, and some other companies have custom designs for their better bearings.
- Q:I have a 1992 Camaro RS, LO3 305 TBI V8, Automatic, 125k miles. It had the oil changed awhile ago, not sure what they put in it, but when I picked it up, the engine was ticking (sounded like a lifter or failing oil pump). I've driven it a few thousand miles and it runs good and strong, but I've always noticed that the oil pressure guage reads low, between 5-25 psi. I'm concerned my bearings are shot. It normally starts up at 25psi and after driving 10-20 minutes, it reads 5-10 psi, and the ticking becomes slower. The engine never kills though. Could it just be a case of a bad sending unit, with to light of a weight of oil, or bad bearings? What are some common signs of bad bearing? The motor does not knock.
- if your bearings are bad your engine would be knocking and would soon stop. it sounds like your bearings are worn which would give you low oil pressure. I would run the oil made for older engines that have wear like yours.and by the way try not to beat it to much it'll last a little longer

- It used to be common practice to remove wheel bearings and inspect and repack with grease and replace and re-torque. This has become a thing of the past with the newer bearings being replaced as a unit with the abs systems in use now days. If your wheel has noticeable play top to bottom it a safe bet the wheel bearings are worn past there useful life but ball joints or struts can also cause play. If the play is front to back, the steering components should also be checked to determine if it is the steering or bearings. And yes it can be serious and dangerous. Any problem with the steering or suspension and rotating parts should be addressed immediately.
- Q:I was just wondering how the Bones Reds skateboard bearings would compare to the ABEC Rating. I know they are not measured by ABEC but what type of ABEC bearing would best compare to them? Thanks.
- ABEC is a label.. and if you look into it the ABEC rating system you will see it is intended for industrial bearings for things such as machines in factories.. when your building something like a dumptruck or a machin that creates alluminum cans ABEC ratings matter because u dont want to have to change ur bearings for sumthing so complex so the rating system works great.. but for skateboards ABEC really means nothing because if u have ABEC rated bearings with a rating of 3 or 7 it doesnt matter because if you ollie a 8 set the shock from landing on the bearing is exactly the same. so wether u pay 30$ or 20$ for the 7 or 3 rated ABEC bearings theyr both going to break in the same amount of time. go with REDS becuase reds are cheap and theyr made by the best bearing company on the market (for skateboards)./// cheap is good
- Q:I recently made a trade with another airsofter and i found that the shell was missing some ball bearings and the spring was bent. where can I find a replacement for this. I live near carpendersville and there are very few airsoft stores around that i can get to. The shell just releases the gas once i fill to a certain point (like in .25 seconds)
- Any 3mm ball bearings will do. You should be able to get them in any worthwhile hardware/engineering store. edit: I double checked for you. If it's a 40mm grenade and has eight ball bearings, then they're definitely 3mm. If it's a 40mm shell with 4 bearings, then you need 4mm bearings. As for springs, one from a clicky pen will work fine. There's a great guide to moscart shells here: www.arniesairsoft .uk/forums/in... You may need to register to view it though.
- Q:I got my car alligned and suddelt every time I turn it makes an awful groaning noise. I believe it's the bearings but I JUST had them done a year ago and hardly drive... Could the allignment have caused this? A year seems like such a short time for bearings to last.

- You don't need to ask the same question in three areas, two of which aren't appropriate. Are you asking how to take the bearings out of the wheel to replace them or how to open them up to clean or oil them? Unlike a couple of people have said, inline skate bearings are NOT sealed. Sealed bearings have way too much drag for inline skate or skateboard use. The method of removing from the wheel that one of them posted is just as wrong. Please clarify your question. If you want to remove them from the wheel, are the axles 6mm (1/4) or 8mm (5/16)? If you want to open them up, do the shields have a rubbery surface or metal surface? If they have a metal surface, are there a row of visible notches around the outside of the shield? Then I can tell you what you need.

- I'll cover some basics with you about advanced longboarding. I'll first start by talking about trucks and bushings, then I'll move on to bearings. Longboarding can be divided into two sub-categories, that is downhill riding and free riding. Now each type of riding has different sets of parts which differ from each other to provide maximum performance for the style of riding. Downhill boards are usually at top performance with trucks that have a 42 degree base plate. You will sacrifice the maneuverability and carving ability of trucks with 50 degree base plates to sturdiness if you get 42's. However, you will be able to handle speed much better on 42's and the risk of 'speed-wobbles' will go down. Bushings are pretty difficult to choose. With all different hardnesses and shapes, it's hard to recommend anything that you will be satisfied with. Bearings are simple. Any bearings are basically the same but MAKE SURE you get completely sealed bearings. Ceramic bearings are pricey but supposedly improve performance. I recommend you look into Randall or Paris for trucks (180mm standard), Khiro for bushings (unnecessary), and Bones for bearings.
