- Q: make more noise when they are in rictas?
- theyre the bearings...get bones REDS
- Q: Is it possible to replace some from the oil pan? Please dont say i need a new engine etc. im only concerned about the bearings.
- Yes, although doing it right is tedious. Remove the spark plugs so you can move the pistons by hand. Keep track of which rod and which orientation the caps come from. The new bearings really should be plastigaged (green Plastigage, available cheap at auto parts stores) to verify the clearance. The first source has a good description of how to use it - be sure not to rotate the crank with the Plastigage in place or the piece of Plastigage will be ruined. Remember the bearings will look wrong until they are clamped in place - they will look like they are too large. If the crank journals are shiny you should have no problem; if they have black deposits remove them with 600 grit sandpaper shoeshine rag fashion. Take your time; get it right. Before rotating the crank always make sure the connecting rods are out of the way so they don't get jammed. When in doubt, push them up. !!!Never let any pistons come down so far a ring could pop out of the cylinder bore!!! I don't think it is likely but it would be awful. Get pre-lube and put it on the bearings before final assembly. When it is done, let the engine idle at least 15 minutes before driving, and drive it at modest speeds an hour or so before taking it on the freeway.
- Q: I need to change/ repack the wheel bearings but i've never done it before but I am mechanically inclined enough to do it. Just need to know if theres any secret steps to follow. Any info would be great!!!
- The 1993 Cutlass Ciera does NOT have wheel bearings you can repack. They are what is known as Sealed Bearings. If they need grease, you MUST replace them. There is NO way around it. The Hub and Bearing come as an assembly! The job to swap out the Bearing/hub assembly is actually pretty easy. should take around an hour to do. You must remove the wheel, then the Brake Caliper, then the Rotor. then remove the big axle nut. Then remove the three bolts (torx bolts) that hold the hub to the steering knuckle. remove splash shield and remove the Hub/bearing assembly. You may need a special puller to get the hub out from the steering knuckle.
- Q: I have a rm 125 and I might need to split the case to make some repairs and I was wonderin if you have to replace all of the bearings and seals when you do it
- i would recommend it because you dont want to be back in there for a long time. the bearings are obsorbing air and gas all the time, to deteriorate them. seals will shrink terribly if it has set in storage a long time. any snowmobile mech. will tell you that. the seals have to be in great shape, or it defeats the vacuum effect to such air and fuel into the bottom end. with worn bearings they will try to seize when hot. and without the seals in great shape, it will never run at optimun level. and youll think you have coil problems all the time. you will have to takethe crank, to a shop with a press, the bearings have to be pressed on.
- Q: what is the advantage and disadvantage of water-lubricated bearings?
- The main advantage of a water cooled bearing is you can use the a portion of the water from the pump discharge to lube the bearings. That way you can always be assured of the lubricating fluid supply and do not have to relay on another pump. Some pumps do use another source, especially if the water being pumped is dirty, but it is still cheap and non-contaminating if some leaks into the pumped fluid. However, water is not always a good lube especially on pumps with high speeds and/or mechanical loads. Water is not very viscous and becomes less so with increased temperature. Even small 3600 rpm pumps will use oil for lubrication. Some large, high pressure pumps will have their own oil pumping and cooling system for the bearings.
- Q: Im looking for some really fast bearings. I don't use my board for tricks but mostly for speed. Can anyone tell me what are some very fast bearings?
- bones reds unless u have alot of money to spend then u could get bones ceramics or swiss
- Q: What size engine rod bearings do I need for a ford Fusion? I ordered standard which was suggested by the dealership and by the sales people but they are way too big. We have a 2.3 liter engine.
- You rarely replace just the bearings because usually the crank is damaged or worn as well, and the entire crank kit should be installed. You are talking like .0002 clearance there. Well, it's a ford so give or take an inch or so should be like new. Kidding. Almost.
- Q: Hi, I have a problem with replacing the bearings on my bike, the ones I took out weren't tapered, and all the ones I have found on the internet are tapered. Was just wondering if anyone knows of any good parts websites that would probably sell old style bearings. Thanks, Kim :)
- The reason for this is that EVERYBODY replaces old ball and race bearings with tapered bearings, even on my antiques, as they are far superior, last longer, and require little or no maintenance.
- Q: what are oversized bearings for?i got drink and held it wide open started a lil kock from the bearings...i hope i can get away with just replacing the bearings and not the crank ad everything else..lol..later
- There are a couple things you can do. Delete the contact and there is also a setting in Messenger where you will always appear as off line to that contact. I know in MSN there is a block feature, but not that used to Messenger.
- Q: i was putting a new tire on my gt dyno when it got really hard to pedal i ve smashed them before but it was my Friends bike! and was wondering if i should get the newest bearings?
- nonsense question no info wle
