Q:Without achole
Yeah Brake Cleaner would be the best way to clean anything gunked up. It removes any old grease and slime buildup. Although brake fluid does dry out quickly so after you sprayed it and wiped your parts down, lithium grease the bunch. :)
Q:So I have a 2006 beetle bug and I noticed that my bearing sounds loose. I don't know however, if I have to replace just the bearing or since it's German, I need to replace the whole hub like an Audi. Does anyone know? Thanks! It's also the front left wheel
Of course. Its German. Audi uses the sane parts
Q:Took my car to the mechanic yesterdcay because it was occasionally making grinding noise when turning right they said its the bearings and i don't have the money to get it fixed til next wendesday. I have to drive to school on tuesday which is an hour from my house...will it be dangerous to take this trip before getting it fixed? The car is a 2003 dodge neon
You should be ok for a day drive. Better avoid freeways for your safety incase broken bearing stalls the wheels. Find the replacement from salvage which I have seen are cheap and good.
Q:My husband has a dodge 3500 extended van that he uses for work. He is a floor installer, so he carries carpet, laminate, tile, and his tools in the van daily. We bought the van just over a year ago. He has put just under 40,000 miles on it (it has a totol of 211,000), and he is now on his 3rd set of bearings on the front. The van was upgraded by adding an extra leaf to the suspension on each side by the previous owner. It is a good sturdy van. The body is in almost perfect condition and it runs great, but it seems like we are always having to replace something for the front end. Is this a common problem, or could it be because of how it was modified? Is it that the front end is taking too much of the stess of the road and the load of whatever he's carrying that day? He just replaced the bearings 3 months ago, and now they are going bad again. (and that seems to be the trend, every 3-4 months they go bad)I was just wondering. Thanks
Use a bearing packer that you can hook to a grease gun, don't use the old hand method. Also make sure you are using grease suitable for disc brakes, this type of grease can withstand much higher temps without running out of the bearings. I use synthetic grease in my wheel bearings. Try it like this one time and see how it goes.
Q:what kind of bearings should i buy for my skateboard?
u should try some atm bearings or some reds then eventually when u wanna get really good ones get some bones swiss....i think those are the ones....forgot
Q:I need at least a link because i got really good bearings
You don't need to ask the same question in three areas, two of which aren't appropriate. Are you asking how to take the bearings out of the wheel to replace them or how to open them up to clean or oil them? Unlike a couple of people have said, inline skate bearings are NOT sealed. Sealed bearings have way too much drag for inline skate or skateboard use. The method of removing from the wheel that one of them posted is just as wrong. Please clarify your question. If you want to remove them from the wheel, are the axles 6mm (1/4) or 8mm (5/16)? If you want to open them up, do the shields have a rubbery surface or metal surface? If they have a metal surface, are there a row of visible notches around the outside of the shield? Then I can tell you what you need.
Q:i was putting a new tire on my gt dyno when it got really hard to pedal i ve smashed them before but it was my Friends bike! and was wondering if i should get the newest bearings?
go to a bike shop!
Q:No stupid answers please. Im an ASE master mechanic and I'm looking to hear from experienced off roaders. I'm new to offroading. I'm driving an F250 460 Bigblock 4x4. I know my u joints breaking are normal but am I to expect the same from my tie rods and front manual locking hub wheel bearings once a month if not once a week (I stay up on my alignments). I just bounced my truck three times straight sideways (that's when I really felt the wheel bearings and tie rods go out) so I know I'm very abusive but they are...well were brand new. Is there something I should do as far as suspension or aftermarket parts. I've been doing my homework but any suggestions would help. Rear axle is 30 years old and still kicking major *!*, front end not so much. I do a lot of jumping and climbing. Any suggestions would help. I have an IFS dana 44 front axle. I don't really think of a center pivot axle as IFS and I always thought it looked crappy for offroading. Could it be I need a solid axle?
no you should not be breaking wheel bearings and tie rods every couple weeks. I have done plenty of off-roading and have never busted a wheel bearing from it. unless you are jumping the truck several feet in the air and turning the steering wheel before it lands. You should not have this problem at all. either you are getting bad parts or they are being installed improperly. And as far as the IFS not being good enough I would not worry about that. The twin I-beam suspension is at least 1 of the best suspensions that you can get for off-roading (especially jumping) EDIT Yes you can beef up the tie rod ends but There is not a way to do the same for the wheel bearings that I know of. Basically if you want to treat the truck like that then you should expect to have to repair it daily. Also if the truck has independent front suspension then it does not have front leaf springs. I would think that a ASE certified mechanic could tell the difference between the 2 but I may be wrong
Q:I would like to ask about the difference between needle roller bearings NK and nki,Recently, I encountered a problem, originally wanted to buy NK 40/20 needle roller bearings. But it is later discovered that the label is NKI bearing 35/20 (inner) model, measure and NK 40/20 nominal size, only found nki35/20 needle roller bearings NK 40/20 bearing needle length is shorter a section, the other to look exactly the same.Considering the bearing equipment used in high precision, and the bearing capacity is large, so request, the use of NKI35/20 (inner) bearing replacement prototype No. NK 40/20, it has a bad effect on the accuracy of the equipment, whether this model can be used to replace. Therefore, I always have this doubt, hoping to get answers from professionals,.Thank you for putting it down hereWhat I want to ask is, if you take the NKI 35/20 inner ring off, can you take the place of NK40/20 bearing? If the NKI 35/20 bearing is installed, what impact will it have on the equipment?
NK and NKI are light series needle roller bearings. The difference is that one with inner ring and one without inner ring. The following problems are shown. Relevant technical data of the model are compared. Q:I have a 2001 BMW 325i. I believe that we need to change the wheel bearing (passenger rear). You can check my other questions in case the diagnosis is incorrect...(help??)Does anyone have any diagrams, instructions on how to change them? Is it necessary to have them pressed on/off? (that would determine if I could do this at home or not. Please help, this is my sons car and he is in the military and doesn't have time or cash to spend on it. So mom dad are trying to help them out. Any advice or websites will be appreciated. Thanks, stormphyre
The okorder (fill out the form on the right) Once you get your new wheel bearing, you can take your old hub (with the old bearing) and the new bearing into a local repair shop. They will press out the old bearing and press in the new for much less than a complete job. You can then take the hub with the new bearing and put it back into your BMW. The rest is just wrench work.
